Listener Reviews

wrestling with God
I sincerely appreciate the way the speaker wrestles with the scriptures. I too find myself with frequent questions. I love God and His people.
Thought provoking
In my opinion this is the best pod cast program out there very thought provoking, discussing and talking about issues that the church should be teaching and discussing. Keep up the good work you are appreciated more than you realize.
Hermeneutics and Lesson Application
I am really enjoying your podcasts and they have challenged me to do a lot more studying. I hope this is a simple question and will not cause you to interrupt your Bible reading and lesson prep. If an Old Testament text is taught hermeneutically correct, is it correct to use that text to teach a lesson based on the story. For example, Naaman the Leper. If the text of II Kings 5 was taught hermeneutically, could one then use Naaman's eventual actions to teach "the need for complete obedience"? When I taught this lesson I never considered hermeneutics, but taught the Biblical historical facts. However, I used the text to teach a lesson on obedience. Again. I read into the text that Naaman went into the Jordan six times and there was no sign of healing. If he had stopped and not gone the seventh time he would have missed the blessing of healing. What I am asking is, when is it proper to use a Biblical text to teach a lesson? I am trying to understand how you would present a hermeneutical presentation of a text and still provide Biblical principles to help me grow in my Christian walk. If you communicate by email, I would be willing to try to explain in more detail my confusion. I am hesitant to listen to sermons on sermon audio because, based on your teaching, many of the sermons are not Biblically sound. As a side note, do you have a way to donate other than Paypal? My account was hacked years ago and I do not want to reactivate it. I am old school so I can send a check...I know you said a lady from Ohio, I believe, supports your ministry that way. Even though you thought I might not listen after your response to my last review, I have not stopped. I understood your point of view, I just was more upset that you had to take time to address my review instead of God's Word, I hesitated writing this second review but I did not know how to reach you without using the review option. Please feel free to delete this text, or segments of it, because it really isn't a review.
Found someone who thinks like me
Brother, just wanted to let you know that I have been listening to you for a year as of this month, June 2026 people need to hear your thoughts and hypothesis and learn to ask questions about the church and Scripture. Great job keep it up !
Philippians 2:13
I can't find any contact information, so I was going to post this comment on sermon audio but it must have been too long or something? I'm the guy who replied or made a comment on your post yesterday. I think my username is Jacobsson or something like that. Well bro, you definitely have more answers than I do, and no, I don't have any answers to Philippians 2:13. But I love your careful and gospel-centered approach. I just started listening to your podcasts about a week ago, and I can't believe how much you are “talking my language” in one sense. You have raised considerations that I had never even thought about, yet at the same time you have touched on concerns that I've carried for many years. I'm a writer; you're a talker. I've been writing about "relationship with Jesus" language and similar issues for a number of years, and I do try to maintain a distinction between law and gospel. In fact, you're helping me see a few additional aspects of that distinction, and I'm thankful for it. I would describe myself as advocating a fairly high-grace soteriology, so in many respects I'm quite removed from your theological persuasion. At the same time, I love the light of the gospel wherever I find it, and I appreciate the questions you're willing to ask. Contact me sometime. I'd love to chat. Marc, Sovereign Redeemer Books. My email is on the website. Thanks, brother, and have a nice weekend. Try not to get so worked up. 😃 By the way, you're slacking when it comes to critiquing the featured SermonAudio messages. I had to take over for you. You missed Lost in Hell's Darkness: Demons, Darkness, Damnation, Revival Institutes by E. A. Johnston. You would have had a field day with that one. Go back and listen to it - or at least read the transcript. It was folklore and ghost stories from beginning to end. 😳 If you promise to behave, I'll send you a copy, as I haven't posted it on my website yet. Marc 😃 Obviously, you can delete this if you want.
Different from anything else
This is not your average podcast. He does not follow the traditional podcast format. It is more like a conversation with himself or the audience. It is not clean cut, but it is thorough. I really enjoy the Bible honoring approach, how he tries to discover what the Bible actually says and means rather than following a theological pattern. This is a really good podcast, just don’t expect it to be like all the other podcasts.
Genuinely Unique
Uniqueness is something sought by many but rarely genuinely reached. This podcast, being as real and raw as it can be, has truly reached this coveted status. Any listener who wants to break away from the status quo, who values authenticity over polish, depth over soundbites, and genuine curiosity over performance, will find a home here.
Please Leave Pres Trump Out of your Broadcast
I love your podcast and appreciate your insight. I have learned aloft in a short time and I have learned more about my relationship with Christ and greater assurance of my salvation. I was enjoying your series on Judas until you inserted politics into your teaching. I am so tired of every aspect of life either being improved by Pres Trump or blamed on Pres Trump. He is just a man and a sinner like all of us. I do not understand why any preacher or teacher would focus their message on this man. Was it wrong to compare Trump to Christ in any way. But why not explain the fault I the message and move on. Your obvious hatred of Pres Trump that has been boiling up for at least the past 11 years by your own comments, is not Christ like. I know this hatred comes out because of our sinful nature but please deal with it in your closet of prayer and not venting to your listeners. I still plan to listen because I want to grow spiritually, but please no more politics.
I repent. And I did mean five stars.
I repent. "You need to wear your own armor." Point well taken. Please forgive me. I don't have the relationship with you to make that comment about "exciteability." Nor have I paid the piper. I do appreciate your thoroughness. Your teaching on divorce & remarriage was a lens I had never considered—a topic on which I have so desparately sought clarity. Thank you.
Calm Down
Your content is so helpful, but you seem to me so exciteable I can barely make it through a podcast. I really mean to be helpful, albeit direct. If you want me to just go away, I will. But I almost never offer a suggestion, and wanted to ask for a calmer podcast Respectfully in Christ, Tim Cook, Pastor
Is this the Church of Nihilism?
The pastor who preached on where was God at camp mystic seemed to be very angry at God and people. We don’t get happy endings just because we are Christians. Somebody get him a better understanding of the Bible… and some Prozac.
A babbler
He never gets to the point by trying to tell us that he’s about to get to the point. This guy is a time waster
How Three Devotionals Rewrote The Bible
This is a must-hear! These three books—Pilgrim’s Progress, Morning and Evening, and My Utmost for His Highest—shifted the center of gravity in Bible reading. They helped make application the starting point, context optional, and personal connection king. Instead of asking, What did the author mean?, the dominant question becomes: How does this speak to me right now? What insight, feeling, or action can I draw from this today? In short, Scripture became less about what God has said and more about what I feel it means to me.
Great teaching!
I am glad you did the studies on AI vs Lordship salvation. We need to understand that God did it all, we can not do anything ourselves. Living right is proof of our growth only never our justification.

Lectionary
I have been learning from your teaching and enjoying your homey , comfortable style. I have 2 questions: 1) will you share your name so I can quit referring to you as 'that guy' on CT ? 2) when you refer yo the historical lectionary are you speaking of the Anglican lectionary or something different? We use a lectionary in my Orthodox Presbyterian Church but it doesn't match your readings.
Great Podcast
Real and transparent, will cause you to be challenged in your theological beliefs, challenged to study and to think critically about what the Bible actually teaches.
True to the name of the podcast
If you’re looking for a podcast that will provide a wealth of theological teaching and Biblical ideas to meditate on then you definitely want to listen to this one. The Bible studies are in-depth and are a great addition to the other content provided, challenging you to engage and grow spiritually. If you give it a chance, you will be left with much to consider.
Thank you brother!
Very encouraging and humbling at the same time. God is using you!
Challenging
By far my favorite podcast. Helps me look past my presuppositions and challenges me to think from a biblical prospective
Great All The Way
One of the best out there. Solid all around. Love to listen daily. It's like going to Bible class. So glad to have found this.
True to the name "Theology Central"
A great podcast for all things theology. A place to find podcasts on sermons, current events, church history and all things Christianity with a theological focus. Also a great place to come with complicated questions and share thoughts. I can't recommend this podcast enough!
Beth Moore
Where is the love in your voice? Why are you so angry with Beth Moore and with women in community? Where is your love? Above all love God and love one another. Your anger doesn’t even seem righteous but sarcastic and without love.
Excellent job!
The best source for learning theology I’ve ever found. Thank you Trevor!
