It is Wednesday, June the nineteenth, twenty twenty four. It is currently twelve fifty nine pm Central Time, and I am coming to you live from the Theology Central studio located right here in Abilene, Texas. It's test time, now, I know. I know. No no, no, no no no no no no no no, don't don't, don't close the app, don't don't stop it, don't. I know when you hear it's test time. You know that you typically think that I'm going to tell you it's time to grab a notebook, a pencil, and a Bible. We're going to have a Bible pop quiz or I'm going to give you all kinds of a Simus And no no, no, no, no, no no no no, no, no no no.

0:53 This is test time for me. All right, it's test time for me. But I do need your assis. Okay. As many of you know, we try to get our content on every available platform and app that we can on the face of the earth. I try everything in my power to say, okay, let's get our content here. Let's get a content here. Let's get a content here. Well, and doing that it can become one. It's very tedious and a lot of work, far more work than you understand, than you would understand. And you're gonna hear in the background lawnmowers because the yard guy has just arrived. See good thing, I wasn't doing a normal broadcast. Okay, but that you'll just hear all the noise in the background. Just ignore that. Okay, it'll get loud at different times, but that's okay. What we're testing here is we're testing our RSS feed. Now that doesn't mean anything to you, all right, but our RSS feed is the way all the different platforms and all the different apps find our content and pull in the latest episode. Well, if you look at your podcasting app, you can choose whichever one you would like. You will notice that we have two different podcasts coming from two different RSS feeds, all right. Our main podcast hosting site comes to us from spreaker, right, that's the one we use that gets sent to all the other apps.

2:20 The second one comes from the sermon audio platform. Those are two distinct ones. If you take your favorite podcast app, if you would like to look, you can choose whichever podcast app you would like. All Right, I'm just gonna do you pocket Casts because it's the first one that I found. All right, So if I go to discover type in Theology Central, you can go to any of your favorite podcast app do this type in Theology Central. You will see, well, you're going to see a number of them, unfortunately, okay, because there's some there's some weird there's been some weird things going on with our RSS feed. That's why we're doing test. But you'll see one it says Theology Central, a green background, a white circle in the middle of that a Bible with a cross on it, and then underneath it it says Theology Central. All right. If you click on that, you'll notice that the last episode was Prophetic Reset Monday. It's thirty eight minutes long. You should be able to find that. That's relatively easy to find, right, you should be able to find that one with no problem.

Now, if you also look, you'll see one that has a black background with a microphone with words and kind of a green color, Theology Central, and then right underneath that you'll see the sermon Audio branding. You'll see the sermon Audio branding, and I'm sorry that's so loud. It's irritating me, all right, But you'll see that now, if you'll click on that, you'll see that that one currently says Prophetic Reset. That's the one that comes from Sermon Audio. Now there's another one that has a green background, white circle Bible has the Sermon Audio branding as well, and that one is well, that one's broken, all right, because that one has Sermon on the Mount introduction from May the twenty third. That one's just broken.

4:15 I don't know why it's there. I don't know why it can be found. I wish it would go away because some people will subscribe to that and they're like, well, this one never updates. Why am I listening to this? Hopefully they find all of our others. I wish that could be deleted. I don't know where it's coming from, but it's got the Sermon Audio branding, but I don't know why it's there. But so the two you want to find is the one with the green background, white circle Bible in the middle says Theology Central. There's no branding on it, all right, it's just our artwork. The other one is has the Sermon Audio branding applied to it telling you that that feed comes from sermon Audio. Those are our two RSS feeds. Now, what I need you to do today is I need you to find both of those and which what app you use, Whichever app you use, whether it's Pocket Cast, Apple Podcasts, Pandora, whichever one you use, and when this broadcast is over, what I want you to do is monitor both of them and see which one updates first or how close they update at the same time. Now, what we have been discovering is that the sermon Audio one is massively delayed, at least massively delayed on Apple podcast What I've been noticing is under Apple Podcasts, and I may have to contact them. The Sermon Audio one in some cases is delayed.

5:43 Are you ready for this twenty four to forty eight hours? And what's even more frustrating is sometimes I have to go in manually and tell Apple refresh my feed. Refresh the feed, go search, go search, search that RSS feed from Sermon Audio and look for new content. Well, that's ridiculous. It's twenty twenty four. I shouldn't have to log into websites and go tell them to look for my content. They're supposed to be searching for it without me doing anything. So I don't know if it's because they don't necessarily perceive sermon Audio as a podcasting hosting site. I don't know what it is.

6:25 I don't know why they're they're so delayed, but the other sites do. Really, what you're gonna notice that if you have notifications on on the other podcasting apps, what you're going to notice is that the one from spreaker will show up within probably one to five minutes from the moment I'm done like it. It shows up so fast, it is awesome. The one from sermon Audio, well, we'll see, we're gonna we're gonna do a test. So I gotta figure out why. From what I'm being told, sermon Adio doesn't push out the RSS feed. It's just there and the other sites have to search for it. Well, if the other sites aren't searching for it, how can I get the other sites to search for it in a timely manner so that it pulls it in just as fast as it does from our podcast hosting site Spreaker. Now you may say, well, it doesn't matter, it doesn't who cares? Well, It matters because when people go on their favorite podcastings app, whichever one it is, and they're searching for things and like, well, what's this Theology Central? Let me subscribe to that. If they subscribe to one that's either massively delayed, dead, not working, then they just remove it from their library and they may not do any more searching. You want them to find your content and find the most recent episode that is available to them. That's what you desperately want some of the apps. And like, on one end, you know how much work

7:56 it will take me to contact each and every single app and go, hey, first of all if they even get back to me, but I maybe have to send three emails to get someone to finally respond. That's do you understand how frustrating that is when you get you know, you're not like, I'm getting paid for this. So you want it to work quickly. You want it to work efficiently. You want it to work easily. You want people to be able to be on any app no matter where they look. They're and they're looking for anything, they're searching for whatever something maybe they're searching for theology or just searching for something, and they maybe they're searching for Matthew twenty four. I want them to find all the messages I did on Matthew twenty four if they if they saw eighty three, I want them to find. I want them to find everything quickly, easily, and it's updated.

8:41 That's what I want. Well, the only way I can determine that is to try to figure out how it's working. My perception is the RSS feed from Sermonadio is massively delayed. That's my perception. But I could be maybe I'm seeing things. Maybe I'm just not noticing it. Maybe it's just on my end. So if you'll help me look, so find. So go do a search find. I don't care which pot you say. I'd never used a podcast app. Pick one all right. If you have an Apple device, it's already on your device. Just go to the Apple podcasting app. Take your five seconds. Already there if you if you use Spotify for music, all right, the podcast already there. If you use Pandora for music, podcast already there. If you use Amazon Music for music, it's the podcast are already there. So in many cases it's it's already built in.

9:31 It's easy for you. You don't have to do anything extra if you don't. If you don't use. If you don't have any of that, then just grab any podcasting app. It can be any one of them. Do a search for Theology Central. Find both of those. Again, one the green background, there's no branding on it, it's just a green background, white circle, bible in the middle says Theology Central. There you go. The other one has a black background, there's a microphone, it says Theology Central and green lettering. Then it has the sermon audio branding on it. All right, those are the two you want. All right, those are the two you want, and hopefully, hopefully it's going to work out perfectly well. And theory I wanted to work, and theory I wanted to work. On the other hand, I wanted to I wanted to not work to prove that I'm not losing my mind. But I would rather it work and lose my mind than than not work. And I have to go spend hours trying to contact people because I got to figure out what's the deal.

10:35 I think there's a delay. Well, I know there's a delay because I've had to log into Apple Podcasts multiple times and say refresh the feed, refresh the feed, refresh the feed, and it's oh, I'm like, come on, now, can you just refresh the feed now? I'm not going to I'm not going to tell it to refresh the feed today. I'm not going to do that today. So we'll see. We will see. So that is what is going on. That's why I turned on the microphone. I'm glad i turned on the microphone for this test because I'm not doing any actual teaching. So the lawnmower in the background, even though it's irritating, it doesn't really mess anything up. It's we're just testing an RSS feed.

11:16 We're not testing sound quality, we're not testing soundproofing the studio. We're We're just testing the RSS feed. So there we go. But whether you don't care about RSS feeds, I care about them because that's how my stuff gets. That RSS feed is how those podcasting apps find my content. Well, if one of the RS feed RSS feeds work instantaneously, the other one takes twenty four forty eight hours, or even if it takes an hour or two hours, you want them to. You want them to kind of work pretty close together. And the different podcasting apps also, they're so weird, like some of them search constantly. That's why they pull them in some quick some of them are very delayed. Well, for me, I want the podcast apps to get the content the fastest. That's what I want. That's why I use so many different podcasting apps because I subscribed, well subscribe to so many hourly news podcast or at the top of the hour they drop a new episode. Well, I want that episode at the top of the hour.

12:20 I don't want it forty five minutes into the hour. It's already forty five minutes late, and the next one's supposed to be dropping in fifteen minutes. That's useless, right, So I need them to drop immediately. And when you have when you subscribe to things like CNN breaking news alerts, well you don't want the breaking news alert to show up eight hours after the breaking news. I need it to drop immediately, right. So I'm really picky about the podcasting apps I use. I want them to be giving me the content as fast as possible, and I want my content to be available as fast as possible, because sometimes we talk about something that's pretty like that's important news that's happening right now, like when the whole Mark Driscoll being you know, kicked off stage at that conference. I wanted that out there immediately. And the reason you do that from a podcasting perspective is when if you're if you're covering something that's kind of just breaking, or you're kind of ahead of the story, you want your content out there first. When people start searching for it. There's a high probability they will find your content. But you've got to get the Stuff's got to be available immediately. If there's a delay, people are going to find someone else's content. So those are just like and again, if you post a sermon for Sunday, do you want people finding the Sunday sermon on Tuesday. No, you want them to find it on Sunday. Okay, that's what you want them to find. Now, you may not care, but there's a high whether you care. How you prioritize

13:56 what you're listening to. You may prioriti ties it based off your favorites. You may prioritize it i'll what you find first. You may prioritize it based on the date of the content. And even if you don't, other people do so. All right, so please find your favorite podcasting app right now. Look for Theology Central. Theology Central. You're going to find two feeds. One the artwork will be green background, white circle, bible in the middle says Theology Central. That's pretty simple. The other one has a black background, has a microphone. In fact, I have that very microphone right over there in the corner. The only problem is, for some reason, I can't hook it up to my Mac and I don't know why. Okay, but it looks really really good. But it's that exact microphone that's in that picture. It looks awesome. It looks great. I just look at it, but I can't use it. Okay, all right, but I digress. It has a black background with a microphone, and it says Theology Central, Theology Central green lettering, and then you'll see the sermon Audio branding underneath it. It says Sermon Audio Sermon Audio dot com. Faith comes by Hearing, and it has the SA little the logo for sermon Audio. And then well, you you want to follow both of those, and then here in a few minutes, you can tell me how quickly these broadcasts show up on those apps. And if you use more than one podcasting app, which I'm probably the only person who does that. If you do use more than one, then tell me what happened on all the others, all right now? Remember? Oh, also, I always forget if you use Serious well SiriusXM, if you use the Serious ex app from music and all the other things. Hang on, I'm opening up Serious XM. Right Serious XIM. I'm gonna search hang on theology Central. Yeah, I don't think it pulls in the sermon audio feed. It doesn't. Yeah, it doesn't. So if you if you're using sermon audio or I'm sorry, if you're using Serious XM. If you're using Serious XM, you will only find us that's coming from spreaker.

16:36 It does not, It does not locate, It does not notice, does not acknowledge the feed coming from sermonadio. It doesn't. But at least we're there. So but if you if you so, if you're using Serious XM, you can tell me how quickly the feed is updated from uh spreaker. You won't not be able to participate in how fast it shows up from sermonadio because SERIOUSXM does not recognize the sermon Audio RSS feed. That's that's maddening. Okay, because and you say, well, why do you want both? Because I want both because both are easily found, right. I want to because it just adds to people finding the content. The more ways people find the content, the better. All right, But yeah, if you did not know, we are available on Serious XM satellite radio the app. All right, the app. If you're looking for Theology Central on your satellite radio in your car, you're not going to find it. But if you instead of using the satellite radio use the Serious XM app, you will find us.

17:40 Right, Which is really cool that we're on the SiriusXM app. It really is cool because millions of people use Serious XM. Some of them seem to have trouble wanting to use the app and they still want to my satellite radio in the car, I want to use. The app sounds better than the satellite radio, which it's much more compress Okay, so yeah, we won't get into an argument about sound quality. Yeah we're there. We're we're there as well, Serious XM, which we may be it would be interesting to know how many sermon audio broadcasters are available on SiriusXM. It would be interesting does does does SERIOUSXM app find anybody like? Anybody coming from the RSS feed provided by Sermonadio. That would be interesting to test. I may have to test that. I'm gonna go through all I'm gonna do some search.

18:30 I'm gonna go to the beta dot sermon audio dot com website, look up broadcasters and then start searching for them and seeing how many show up on the SERIOUSXM app. If none of them show up, then then why does it not recognize the RSS feed from Sermonadio. But yes, we are on Serious exam. We're everywhere. I'm telling you, we are literally on every app. When I when I see that, people think I'm joking, But I'm not joking. Well, I have worked hard to put us on every platform on Earth, right, So all right, I think we're good. So you can email me news if it Yahoo dot com, news if at Yahoo dot com. Here's what's going to happen. As soon as this broadcast ends.

19:18 As soon as it ends, I hit the big pause button for spreaker. Then I hit stop it immediately turns it into a draft, I fill out the title Boom Submit. Then it goes to every podcasting app on Earth almost instantaneously. Then, so there was going to be a delay. Then I will go over to sermon when then once it's uploaded to Spreaker, I go to Spreaker download it. Then I take that file and upload it to the sermon Audio platform. Then that then then it's available on that RSS feed. So there will be somewhat of a delay. There's going to be a slight delay of about five to ten minutes to ensure that it's available. So there's going to be some delay. So if they show up on the apps, you know, within fifteen to thirty thirty five minutes apart, that's okay, all right. If they show up between fifteen thirty five minutes apart, that's okay. My concern is is when the Sermonardio win doesn't show up for a very long time, we will see, all right. Remember, check both feeds, the Spreaker feed and the Sermonadio feed. Tell me which one updates, Tell me what the difference is in time, and tell me which platform you were checking. Right. The more people who participate in this, the more information I have, and then I can determine what I need to do. All right, thank you for listening. Everyone, have a great
