Good afternoon everyone. It is that time. Grab your notebook, grab your pencil, and grab your bible because it is time for another Bible pop quiz. I know you are excited. Look, I know you're not excited.

Like I thought that that podcast series was dead and gone, and it was like one of his foolish ideas that he thought was going to be so popular and everybody was going to love and everyone was going to be so excited to do pop quizzes, and he finally caught on that no one's really interested in doing Bible pop quizzes. Nobody wants to participate, no one's gonna send in their answers, knowing, well, maybe I should take a hint. But I still think sometimes it's important for you to grab a notebook, a pencil, and a Bible and participate in a Bible pop quiz, because I think that's a great way to help reinforce what you have been learning, maybe get you to learn new things by making you have to go look some things up. It's fun, it's hopefully interesting.

2:30 Okay, maybe I shouldn't say it's fun. It's interesting, it's beneficial, it's helpful. I mean, we once again, as Christians, we love to talk a big game about the Bible. Right. Oh, it's the inherrant inspired, infallible word of God, sharper than any two edged sword, to be desired, more than gold and honey, and the honey co it is it's to be man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded that out of the mouth of God. Oh, as a new born babe desired the sincere milk of the world, that you may grow thereby on. We can talk such a big game, but so many times we don't really have the desire we really should have to study it and to memorize it, and to dig in and to really do everything we can with it to obtain the greatest amount of spiritual benefit. So I attempt to try to find different things we can do, and one of those things is the Bible pop quiz. So we're going to have a relatively short Bible pop quiz. These are not going to be fill in the blank. These are going to be a little bit more open ended, but relatively simple. The goal of this Bible pop quiz for this June the sixteenth, twenty twenty four, The goal of this Bible pop quiz for this Sunday, June sixteenth, twenty twenty four is really to kind of reinforce things you should have already been looking at, thinking about, working on, listening to sermons about. Because we and the reason I feel we need to do this Bible pop quiz today

4:01 isn't because we're kind of in an interesting situation, right. Okay, so this previous week, your entire focus was supposed to be on the concept of fear of the Lord. You're supposed to be looking up sermons for the fear of the Lord for our sermons two point oh sermon challenge. Right, You're supposed to be doing that, So hopefully you've been working on that. We've been working on Proverbs in general, right, And we were going to do more work on Proverbs at Victory Baptist Church this morning, but everything kind of got interrupted, Everything kind of got hijacked with Psalm eighty three, So we kind of left the fear of the Lord without really even I think bringing that to any kind of conclusion. We didn't do a lot of work on Proverbs this week, and the next thing, you know, I'm over here on Psalm eighty three. So there was a part of me that's like, well, you know what, we've already moved on this new week. The week in front of us is all about Psalm eighty three. For the sermons to two point oh app challenge, it's Psalm eighty three. For the two hours of teaching I did today, Psalm eighty three. So I wanted to kind of turn on the microphone and go, you know what, welcome everyone to the Bible Pop Quiz for Sunday, June the sixteenth, twenty twenty four.

5:15 Today is all about SAW eighty three, and to offer up a quiz on Saw eighty three. I probably, I hope I will do that this coming week, but since we're early in our work on SAW eighty three, I thought I would wait. I'm like, okay, so what what could I do? What should I do? So I'm pulling together a very brief Bible pop quiz. I think it's only five questions. I think I put down five questions. I have a sixth one in mind, but you know, I think we'll go with five questions. These are relatively simple. But the goal here is to reinforce some things about proverbs, things you've already been working on. And so some of you, I apologize, some of you you will. You'll be looking at your notebook going, look, I got it right here, I understand. Just take your previous work and just bring it over to your Bible Pop Quiz notebook, okay, and just write them down again. All right, It'll be okay, it will if you write them again, it will reinforce this. Now, this Bible pop quiz is one of those A lot of people won't actually want to write these things down, but I'm going to tell you to write it down for your own benefit.

6:27 Like if you look it up, if you see it, if you read it, if you hear it, and then if you write it you retain it. You have to do multiple things and ulti to ultimately retain you. If you just look at something or just hear something, you retain very little. But if you take the time to grab a notebook and a pencil and write out what I'm going to ask you to write out, I think you will retain much more. So are you ready? The Bible pop Quiz for June the sixteenth, twenty twenty four is as follows. Number one, what is a proverb? What is a proverb? I want you to find and write out in your notebook three minimum five the maximum amount, but three to five definitions. Try to find five. Your goal is to find five definitions for a proverb and write them down. Make sure you write down the source right. You can use Bible Dictionary. You can use if you've been listening to sermons on the Book of Proverbs. Go grab one of the sermons you know where they defined a proverb, and go find the exact quote and say, from this sermon, this is the timestamp. All right, You can do that as well. You can use study bibles, you can use commentaries,

8:01 you you can use you can use AI. If you are using artificial intelligence, how does AI defined what a proverb is? Write down? Try to find five maximum? Right, three is the bare minimum. Everyone should be able to find three, but some people may have less access to different resources. So that's why I'm putting three to five. But go for five and really try to find five that offer some slight difference. Oh, you can also if you would like. Proverbs, Chapter one, verse one says the proverbs of Solomon, what's what's what is the Hebrew word for proverbs? You can do that. You can write that one down. That can be one. What is the Hebrew word for proverbs or proverb? What is the Hebrew word? What does it mean? Go with that first, and then you can look up other definitions offered by people and see if that if that stays somewhat true, do they add what are the differences? I mean, just the main thing is just to find them, but to write them down.

9:00 I know I have to stress that. People are like, oh, he wants me to look up a proverb. Oh, I got a dictionary here. Oh okay, all right, I did that. Write it on paper. You're looking it up, you're seeing it, you're reading it, you're writing it. You will retain it. What is a proverb? Three to five definitions? Three being the minimum, five being the maximum. All right, number two, number two, find and write out. So you need to find them first, and then you're going to write them out in your notebook. Five verses that talk about wisdom. Find five fine five verses that talk about wisdom. They don't have to necessarily be in proverbs. They can be anywhere. Five verses that talk about wisdom. Now, what you may have a tendency to do is like, well, here's a short one, now, come on, look it up. Write and find ones that you think are really interesting, or or you think really shows you something or convict or teach you something that just kind of jumps out of you. Look, I could read five verses on wisdom and maybe three of them don't really do that, don't really jump out at me. So I grab the two that do, and then I go look for some more. Find five verses and write them out on paper that talk about wisdom, that can be in proverbs, that can be anywhere. Find five five and actually read them and think about them. The goal here is not for you to just go, I found five really quick, let me write these down, donk next.

Now I wanted to kind of get into the definition of wisdom because we had some lengthy discussions about that during our study and Proverbs and are the background work on Solomon. Find five doesn't necessarily have to be in proverbs. Find five verses five that talk about the fear of the Lord, and write them out, Write them out, write out the whole verse. Make sure you put the scriptural reference the chapter and verse. Write them out again. You're looking them up, you're seeing them, you're reading them, you're writing them. You will retain them. Number one, what is the proverb? Very simple, very straightforward. You want three to five definitions? Do everything you can to find five. Number two, find and write out five verses that talk about wisdom, all right? Number three, find five, Find and write out

Three to five definitions? Again, you can look up the word pride. You can give me the Hebrew definition, or you can give me the Greek definition. If you find a verse in the New Testament that speaks of pride, right, so you could do. There's two of your definitions right there. Now, are there multiple Hebrew words that are translated pride? Do they have different shades of meaning?

If you do just a little bit of work, you'll get more from this. And then just find so you can do that. That could be one or two of your definitions right there. You could probably may even do more than that, but that's okay. You could You could just write down your Hebrew and Greek definitions of pride and then look up definitions of pride, maybe in a Bible dictionary, Bible encyclopedia, or if you've been listening to any sermons on proverbs that talk about pride, how did they define pride? What is pride? All right? So number one? What is a proverb? Three to five definitions? Find number two, Find and write out five verses that talk about wisdom. Number three, find and write out five verses that talk about the fear of the lord. Number four, what is pride? Find and write out though once again you're writing out three to five definitions of pride, and then number five. Number five, Fine and write out five verses that talk about pride. Find and write out five verses that talk about pride. Find and write out five verses. Try to find verses that, I mean, there's something to them. It's easy just to look up the word pride, one, two, four, five,

At some point we may do some fill in the blanks I was going to do some fill in the blanks for proverbs as well, but there we go. There's a lot more open ended questions I could I could throw in some very interpretation type questions, but maybe we'll work on those and then we'll come back to a quiz. Now.
