UAWIL #78: Oasis - UK vs USA with Paul from Vintage Rock Pod

In the 90s, Oasis took over popular culture and rock music in the UK. As the country moved out of Thatcherism and into a new era of Cool Britainnia, the Gallagher Brothers, Noel & Liam, led the way with their Beatles-esque string of hit singles and albums. However, in the US they never quite got the traction they assumed was inevitable to rule North America as well as England. Why is that? Was it the Gallaghers' constant fighting? Their unabashed cockiness? Their untamed unibrows? The Wolf has struggled for years to get more of his US friends to understand the greatness of Oasis and their melodies so we explore the UK phenomenon of Oasis with Paul Stephenson from Vintage Rock Pod & This Day Rocks to understand what it was like to grow up in the UK during those heady times. As the Liam and Noel are set to start their own tours of the UK, which of the Gallaghers are you most likely to see live?A Proud Member of the Pantheon Podcast Networkhttps://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/werewolf@ugly_w…

UAWIL #75: Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets Live at Royal Albert Hall

Pink Floyd helped create progressive rock music in the 1960s and started out playing clubs in London with elaborate light shows. In the 1970s they became one of the biggest bands in the world with platinum records and record breaking tours. Nick Mason, the only member of Pink Floyd to never leave the group, has convened with some friends to revisit the pre-Dark Side of the Moon catalog and breathe new life into these often forgotten classics. With the help of long-time Pink Floyd collaborator Guy Pratt on bass & vocals, his Rockonteurs partner Gary Kemp on guitar & vocals, Lee Harris (guitar) & Dom Beken (keyboards they provide an extraordinary show. The Wolf scored a last minute seat to see them at the renowned Royal Albert Hall in London....in the front row!! I basically sat on the stage and marveled at these extraordinary musicians take on this incredibly special collection of songs from the 60s and early 70s. Deborah Bonham & Peter Bullick have been making music together for decades. Whether live with Paul Rodgers, in the studio or out on the road these two have lived, loved & lost enough to finally be ready to release an amazing blues album. Culled from classic blues tracks and more modern song given a blues treatment, Bonham Bullick is out April 29. I get Deborah & Peter to talk about their musical origins, early experiences in music and the rundown on the latest album. Deborah doesn't need to trade on her late brother's legacy - she an extraordinary artist in her own right. But she does make room for fans of John & Led Zeppelin and we discuss that part of her life. A fun interview, both of them generous of spirit, we explore the blues, this album and playing live.A proud member of the Pantheon Podcast familyhttps://www.deborahbonham.com/index.htmlhttps://bonham-bullick.lnk.to/Bonham-Bullick@ugly_werewolf@actionjax72
