This week host Alex Kehaya joins The Guild founder Uri Goldshtein. The Guild is the largest group of open source developers in the GraphQL ecosystem. They have worked extensively with many top Fortune 500 Companies and are the recent recipients of a $48m grant from The Graph.
In this episode, Alex and Uri discuss The GraphQL Hive, a project launched last year by Uri and The Guild team. The GraphQL Hive functions as an open source schema registry that are sold to companies as a SaaS product. Even though this product is marketed to Fortune 500 companies, Uri notes that The GraphQL Hive is, at its core, an open source SaaS.
Alex and Uri also take a deep dive into Geo, a project launched on Graph Day 2022. Geo is the first native Web3 browser to be run on The Graph. The browser allows users to contribute, thus ensuring the accuracy of data on the internet by utilizing decentralized open source code and allowing users to verify and vote on all changes. Uri describes Geo as "kind of like Wikipedia, but completely decentralized."
Listen to Alex's full interview with Uri to learn more about The Guild and Uri's philosophies on how open source can pave the way for a more sustainable tech startup model in the future. The podcast is available for download via Apple, Spotify, and other major streaming platforms.
