Gratitude with Latitude- Another Fantastic Conversation with Johnnie and El-Amin.

Welcome back to the podcast, I’m Jamie Baynes. It’s been a few months since I last had Johnnie and El-Amin on the podcast, so I reached out to them to set up this episode, and they readily agreed. The plan was for us to discuss gratitude, and that’s how it started, but as you’ll soon see, it snowballed into a whole other topic. Now, let me preface this episode by saying that the language used is salty and may offend some people. However, Johnnie and El-Amin are always honest, direct, and respectful of each other and each other’s viewpoints. That makes every conversation I have with them refreshing and enjoyable.
After the episode, Johnnie texted me a quote, written in 1928 by Edward Bernays about propaganda, part of which I’m going to read here:
"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in a democratic society.
Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.”
We all need to remember that both political parties use propaganda in order to divide us and give themselves more power and control. So, how do we fight it? It’s easy. Talk to each other, listen to each other, and ignore attempts to make us hate each other.
I’d like to thank Johnnie and El-Amin for another great conversation and look forward to the next one.
Until next time, take care of one another, be kind to each other, and as always, thanks for listening.
