If you've moved your website to Podpage or changed your site's structure, old links around the web may now hit 404 "page not found" errors. That frustrates visitors and hurts your SEO. A 301 redirect fixes it by permanently forwarding the old URL to the right place — and telling search engines to update their index.
Available on the Pro plan and above.
How to set up a 301 redirect
- In your dashboard, go to Search Optimization → 301 Redirects.
- Click New Redirect.
- In the Old URL Path field, enter the path you want to redirect from. For example, if
yourdomain.com/old-broken/missing-linkis returning a 404, enter/old-broken/missing-link. - In the New path field, enter the destination: a path on your own site like
/the-new-link, or a full URL likehttps://www.othersite.com/the-new-linkif it lives on another website. - Click Save. The redirect takes effect immediately.
