Why pages show "Crawled - currently not indexed" and how to fix it

Seeing "Crawled - currently not indexed" in Google Search Console means Google has found your pages but decided not to index them yet. It's frustrating — and it's usually fixable.

Why this happens

With so much low-quality, AI-generated content flooding the web, Google has become pickier about what it indexes. Thin or duplicate-looking pages often sit in this state until Google sees more evidence of their value. Google's indexing algorithms also keep evolving, so even good content can face delays.

How to fix it

  1. Request indexing manually. In Search Console, inspect the affected URL and click Request Indexing. Google treats this as a signal that you care about the page.
  2. Add substantial content. Comprehensive show notes — and transcripts, if you have them — give Google real text to evaluate and demonstrate the page's value.
  3. Link to your website from your RSS feed. Make sure each episode's show notes include a direct link to its episode page on your website.
  4. Earn backlinks. Links from reputable websites act as votes of confidence and can speed up indexing.
  5. Promote your pages on social media. Use Podpage's social posting feature or share links yourself to increase visibility.
  6. Add internal links. Podpage handles a lot of internal linking automatically — supplement it by linking between related blog posts and pages.

Once you've strengthened the pages and requested indexing, give Google a little time — indexing decisions often take days or weeks to change.
