An alt tag (or alt text) is a short written description attached to an image on a website. Screen readers read it aloud for visitors with visual impairments, browsers show it if an image fails to load, and search engines use it to understand what the image shows — which helps your SEO.
Podpage adds alt text automatically to the images it places on your site, like your podcast artwork and player icons. The one place you control alt text yourself is the text editor: when you add an image to an episode description, blog post, or custom page, you can set its alt text there.
Write alt text that briefly and accurately describes the image — "Host Jane Smith interviewing a guest in the studio" is far more useful than "photo1.jpg".
Tip: Podpage's SEO analysis flags images that are missing alt text, so you can find and fix them page by page.
