How AI assistants read your site as Markdown

More and more people ask AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude about podcasts. A normal web page is mostly menus, styling and player code, which makes it slow and costly for an assistant to read — and it may only read part of the page. Podpage solves this by offering every public page on your site as clean Markdown text when an AI agent asks for it.

Included on every plan, with nothing to set up.

How it works

  • An AI agent requests a page at its normal address and says it would like Markdown (using the Accept: text/markdown header).
  • Podpage sends back the same page as plain Markdown: the title, description, address and main content, with menus, scripts and pop-ups such as cookie banners removed. It's a fraction of the size of the full page.
  • Browsers keep getting your site exactly as designed. Your visitors never see the Markdown version.

It works on every public page of your site, including on your custom domain. Agents only get what's already public — anything a visitor can't see stays protected.

How agents find out about it

Podpage mentions the Markdown option in your site's llms.txt and agents.json files, which AI tools check to learn what your site offers. See Helping AI assistants understand your show with agents.json and llms.txt.

Tip: Assistants can only describe what's on your pages. Adding transcripts and detailed show notes gives them more accurate material to work from.
