A focus keyphrase is the main search phrase you want a page to rank for — the query your audience is most likely to type into Google. For example, an episode about budget travel might target "cheap travel destinations." Setting one tells Podpage what to optimize the page around.

How to set a focus keyphrase
- Open the edit screen for the episode, blog post, or custom page you want to optimize.
- Scroll to the SEO Content section.
- Enter a 1–4 word phrase in the Focus Keyphrase field.
- Click Save.
The Advanced SEO Analysis tool then grades the page against your keyphrase and gives specific recommendations — like where to add the phrase in your content and metadata.
Why target just one keyphrase per page
A single keyphrase keeps the page clearly about one topic, for both search engines and readers. Spreading a page across many keyphrases dilutes all of them — if you want to rank for a second phrase, create a second page (or episode) that targets it.
Tip: Use the words your listeners would actually search, not industry jargon. A quick Google search of your candidate phrase shows you what you're competing against.
