Helping listeners search your website

Once you've built up a back catalog, listeners need a quick way to find that one episode they remember. Your Podpage includes a search button in the navigation bar that searches your whole website and shows results as visitors type.

Available on the Pro plan and above.

How search works for visitors

  1. Visitors click the magnifying glass in your navigation bar (on phones it appears as Search in the menu).
  2. As soon as they type three or more characters, matching results appear instantly — no need to press Enter.
  3. Results are grouped by type: Episodes, Videos, Guests, Blog Posts and Pages.

Episode results match on the title, summary, show notes and transcript, so listeners can find an episode by a topic you only mentioned in passing. Titles count most, so the best match usually comes first.

Your episode list and other list pages also show a search box at the top, which opens the same search limited to that type of content.

Want an exact phrase? Put it in quotes, like "morning routine", to show only results containing those words together.

Turning search off

  1. In your dashboard, go to Settings → Advanced Settings.
  2. Under Browsing, switch on Hide search.
  3. Click Save. The search button and list search boxes disappear from your site.

Tip: Transcripts make your episodes much easier to find through search. See Enhance your episode pages with transcripts.
