Stories That Inspire Us / The Author Series, welcomed to today’s podcast, Friday, September 23, 2022, Sandi Schwartz. Sandi is the Founder and Director of the Ecohappiness Project; author of the parenting book Finding Ecohappiness: Fun Nature Activities to Help Your Kids Feel Happier and Calmer; co-author of the children’s book Sky’s Search for Ecohappiness; and journalist specializing in parenting, environmental, and wellness topics.
More than just a book, this is a journey for the entire family to enjoy. Each chapter is organized by nature tool and as Sandi explains in her book, except Chapter 1 which provides a general overview.
At the end of each chapter, there is an Activity Checklist. Sandi also provides “Resources” such as different organizations for parents to reach out to for further information as well as suggestions of books for the parents to read and further their understanding and books for the children to read to expand and further their knowledge.
Sandi shares her personal experiences and the love of creating the Ecohappiness Project. Her mission is to inspire and educate families to build a nature habit to feel happier and calmer.
Sandi’s work has been featured in The Washington Post, National Geographic, Library Journal, Yahoo!, Good Housekeeping, Chicken Soup for the Soul, Scary Mommy, and more.
She began her career at the United States Environmental Protection Agency and National Academy of Sciences. She has a Bachelors in Environmental Studies from The George Washington University, a Masters in Government (Environmental focus) from Johns Hopkins University, and Specialization Certificate in Foundations of Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.
