When life is already in a pickle, our instinct is often to do something - anything - to fix it.
But rushed action usually makes the spiral worse, and before long we’re not acting like ourselves at all.

In Revelation 2–3, John shows that before Jesus confronts struggling churches, he re-anchors them in who they are: loved by God, freed from sin, and held by a risen and reigning Christ.

For Christians, repentance isn’t about earning love back after doing something daft.
It’s about returning to the truth of who you already are - someone redeemed, not someone defined by the downward spiral.

Forget that, and the danger intensifies.
Remember it, and the spiral can be broken.
