This page hosts Simon Bowkett's expository Bible ministry from a rural context in the Heart of Wales.

People

Simon has raised four children with his wife Helen alongside their Christian ministry that stretches back to 1985. (Yes, he's a proper Rev.!)

They have farmed on a hill in Wales together and been reaching out through chaplaincy ministries to rural and farming people since 2004, with Simon working for y GRWP (Grace Rural Wales Partnership), a registered charity no. 1170827.

What do you DO?

We do a lot of advocacy, farmer help and mental health support, not only in the three livestock markets we visit each week, but also wherever rural people gather.

More recently we have been doing a lot of advanced first aid and Basic Life Support training because we find stress leads to accidents and help can be a long time away if someone close to you falls ill or has an accident in rural Wales.

How are you funded?

Everything we do is free of charge, but you can help with what we do by donating if you want to.

What's the big idea?

We're in the business of strengthening people from the inside out by helping people base their thinking and their lifestyles on the Maker's instructions ... and increasingly we're seeing emphasis being placed on spiritual as well as just mental health by a growing band of well-being experts.

So you'll find a lot of the ancient, tried and tested wisdom of the Bible in the content we create.

What have you got for me?

  • You'll find (roughly 12-second) micro videos here with an inspirational Verse for the Day, updated every weekday morning.

  • You'll find (roughly 5-minute) Word for the Week videos from the farm with a point to think about, built around a Bible verse.
They come out late Sunday or Monday morning.

  • And you'll find (roughly 25-minute) 'deep dives' unpacking Scripture in a way that helps us understand and apply useful things from God's Word to make us resilient in doing good and doing well ... foundations for life built from the inside out!
It's called 'Expository Ministry' ... we've seen it revolutionise people's lives over the course of forty years and we are REALLY into it!
These come out by midnight on Saturdays ready for Sunday and you can sign up to get a DIY Sunday Service Kit emailed to you each week. Drop us a message asking for that on the contact form.

  • If you run or drive and prefer listening to podcasts rather than watching them, you'll find the deep dives in audio format on the podcasts button and you can download them from wherever you normally get your podcasts. (Please, NO watching YouTube videos in the tractor cab!)

We're also developing a blog which will launch soon, tackling the 'how to's for doing God stuff for rural people.
