Actually, the music is perfect
The music in episode 1 and 2 (and possibly future episodes, but I haven’t listened yet) is “Oh Shenandoah,” a traditional American folk song dating back to the 19th century. It’s exactly the song that should accompany the description of this beautiful park land. As a transplant who now calls the community nearby Shenandoah NP home, I was moved by the underlying tune. And I know it well, as my child performed it when she was younger with her school choir, and more recently with her school marching band.
Love the Narration
I am sensitive to sounds and am easily bothered or distracted. I’ve read lots of complaints about the narration and music but that doesn’t bother me. The stories on Sequestered keep my interest. I look forward to hearing more from this narrator.
Interesting
The story is very interesting. The music, however, is distracting and disruptive.
Suzanne Morphew
I recently learned more about the upcoming trial. The latest episode of VPI, on court tv is focused on the case.
Wow
Season one was fantastic. Great job on telling a terribly sad story but keeping Jasmine at the forefront. Brought me to tears many times while listening. Thank you telling her story so well.
Well done
I rarely get emotional when listening to podcasts, but I felt this one. Court clips are difficult to hear. Hosts voice good for me. Starting season 2 right away.
A New Top Favorite Pod 🎙️💯
I’ve been meaning to write a review and with each episode it reminds me why I needed to do so. The way the show is edited is amazing (for both seasons) and really pulls in the listener (ex. background music/sounds that are different for each story). It’s quickly become one of my new faves and I look forward to each episode. Keep up the great work!
A++
I just started listening to this podcast and I'm a harsh critic normally. I love this one and I really enjoy the narrator and how direct her approach is. So far I really like this and look forward to future episodes
LOVE THiS SO SO MUCH ❤️❤️‍🔥❤️
I don’t know why people think her voice is terrible. It’s really not in certain parts. She really describes. In good wording and vocabulary each individual part of all of the episodes love this podcast would watch it EVERYDAY ALL DAY❤️‍🔥
Excellent podcast
I think "the narrator's voice" is perfectly fine. I'm not understanding why people say it's "non emotional". Does everything in today's world need to be dramatic? She's educated and precise. Personally, I think the tone and pace is fine. Yes courtroom recordings can be hard to hear, but I've noticed that on nearly every podcast.
Great podcast with one note.
I really loved this fresh perspective in true crime podcasting (season 1). Just started season 2 and appreciate your bringing light to old cases. Well done! The only note I have is that the background music is way too loud and distracting. You have a wonderful voice! Let’s hear a little more of that and maybe dial down the music?
Riveting
This was a riveting podcast. I am so glad Sarah & Andrea decided to create this podcast to keep Jasmine’s life alive. This is to advocate for victims of crime, not just a sensational story.
True to Life
As someone who has worked with the DA’s office and court judges, victims of DV and lived in Chattanooga, this is as real as a trial can be next to sitting in the courtroom each day as a member of this sequestered jury. The law and which side of the line of the verdict you fall on is up to you so give a listen to a tough trial both prosecuted and defended and learn from the professional trial court personnel.
A Too Soon (but with expert quality) Rating! - Just got done with Jury Duty.
Layers of relevant content packed in every minute (After the first half of episode two). Almost lost me when repeating testimony almost verbatim but then… #nospoilersx3 You struck a recently exposed nerve. You and your team get 9.875 stars for conveying details that I would have never understood before being a juror on a very rough case. Thanks for validating the posture post verdict with your own account. It legit helped understand the unique dynamic between Jurors (each other) and cases. Way to follow through on the Podcast, I needed it.
Tears
Each episode made me so sad for Jasmine’s family. So many tears while listening and I consider myself to be very hardcore. Thank you for telling her story, now I need to go listen to other podcasts cover it.
Binged it in 2 days
I couldn’t get enough! I’ve always wanted to be a juror and have never had the chance. So it’s super interesting to hear the behind the scenes stuff. The host did a great job of balancing telling her experience and the story without it being salacious or hurtful to the family. Very good podcast!
Worthwhile Podcast
I appreciate the telling of this tragic story. I also liked hearing it from the perspective of a juror. I did find the court audio very difficult to understand and was hoping for some clarification after each one that I couldn’t follow but that didn’t happen. I loved the continuous reminder that this was Jasmine’s story, not his. So glad they continued to honor her and her family.
For Jazzy
This is a really well done podcast. It really puts things into perspective and gives you an inside look into our justice system. Thanks for putting Jazzy’s story out there and sharing your first hand experience.
… but the music/sound effects
Great story. Overall, I liked this podcast, but as someone who has listened to podcasts for years and does so on a daily basis, I have to say I HATE the sound effects and music in this podcast. I find it annoying and distracting. There is no reason for it in most cases. It takes away from the production and gives me pause whether I will seek out another in the future by this same producer. Sometimes simpler is better.
Great podcast
It was very interesting to learn about the process of being sequestered! Glad to see Jasmine get justice!! It seems like many victims don’t get proper justice these days! So this was great to hear. You did an awesome job!
Different then your typical
Very different than your typical true crime podcast because it is told in the perspective of the jurors. Very well told. Very respectful of Jasmine.
Fascinating
I really enjoyed seeing the process of a jury from the inside. I’m awed by what those who serve on a jury are asked to do & actually do. One thing I often found annoying was the use of music. It would be on underneath the talking. Really awful in the bonus episodes. Almost made me stop listening. Added no value, only distraction.
Loved it!
I loved this approach to true crime, it’s often not a perspective that we get. Especially from a sequestered juror. It was easy to follow along, I loved her unique voice. Excited for a second season.
Well done.
Great delivery of this podcast.
