This is Dr. Ray Self and welcome to Self Talk, and I appreciate everyone listening today. So we're looking again, let's look again at Mark chapter 6. Jesus sent out and commanded them saying “do not go in the way of the Gentiles.” “but do not enter the city of the Samaritans”, okay? And then it goes in verse seven “and as you go preach, saying ‘the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand’, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” And so at the end, and this is a scripture, I put up in the notes here, then you see that's exactly what they did and so you have the disciples doing the commission of Jesus and when they did the commission of Jesus, signs and wonders followed them and it was an amazing time. It was absolutely amazing. And this is- good morning, good morning everybody. Priscilla, good morning Jeanette, good morning La Fondria, good morning everyone. 

Jesus gave his disciples authority to cast out demons, to heal the sick, okay? Cleansed lepers, raised the dead, and what I'm trying to get across is that we also have that authority. Signs and wonders should follow you. They should follow you, not just, you know, a pastor or a super famous evangelist or some person you know with an extraordinary anointing. You've been commissioned by Jesus to move in signs and wonders and when you- look, I want to go back to Mark 6. Um, and it says um, “he called the twelve to himself and began to send them out two by two and he gave them power over unclean spirits” and then you go and you look at verse 13 “they cast out many demons and anointed with oil those were sick and healed them”. So Jesus commissioned his disciples and at one time he commissioned 12 and in another gospel version it says he commissioned 72 and sent 72 out. So he commissioned these people and when he commissioned them, he gave them power. 

What I want to get across to you, I think it's very important for us to understand is that when we tell people about Jesus, when I'm looking at scripture, when I see it, Jesus expects us not just to tell people about the gospel and the kingdom of God, but to demonstrate the gospel and the kingdom of God with signs and wonders. Remember John 14:12 “those that believe in me will do the same works that I do and even greater works.” Paul talked about that our faith should not rest upon his wisdom but on the power of God. We have power. In fact, Acts uh, you know, Acts 1 verse 8, “you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and then you shall be my witness”. So we have the power of God. If you have the Holy Spirit residing within you, you have the power of God within you and you can move in signs and wonders.

Now I know some people think “well, I don't know, you know, about that. I mean, that's something, you know, these famous people do and I've seen it on TV” but no, no you can do it because you have the Holy Spirit. The question is are you saved? Are you filled with the Spirit? If you have the Holy Spirit in you, then you can move in signs and wonders. And the way you do it is pretty simple, it's called faith, stepping out in faith. Lay hands on somebody, pray for someone, command the demons to leave, proclaim healing over them, pray the word of God over them. Uh, “my sister, by his stripes you are healed. Lord, you said we'll lay hands on the sick and they shall recover so Father, I lay hands on my brother and I command him, in your name, to recover”, and you'll be surprised how many miracles God will do at your hands if you step out in faith. You've been given authority.

Jesus is showing us a model. He has given us authority, he has given us power, and the more I look at it, the miraculous signs and wonders of God should follow not only Jesus, which they do obviously but you. You. And when you move in signs and wonders and you're healing people and you're casting out demons and you're prophesying and, and you're operating in your spiritual gifts, it glorifies God. And you talk about building faith and then building faith and then people come to the kingdom. People enter into the kingdom because they see something about the kingdom that they want.

It's been said um, recently, that this generation of what they call- the Millennials I guess they call them- um, are, are the most spiritually dead group of young people ever in the history of our country and I think there's, a matter of fact I don't think, I know there is a spiritual hunger that everyone has. And young people, like, we're born with a spiritual hunger, and I think- and I love the church. Remember, Christ gave himself up for the church, but I think the church so many times has not met that spiritual hunger. We've just done a lot of traditional ritualistic things and have not filled that spiritual hunger so our young people are trying out all kinds of things. 

There's a rise of Satanism, there's a rise in witchcraft and Wicca, uh, New Age philosophy and all this kind of stuff where people- these young people and other people are trying to feed this spiritual void in them because we're born with a spiritual hunger. But the Holy Spirit can fill that hunger and it's up to us to not only talk about God, not only talk about the kingdom of God, but show and demonstrate the kingdom of God. And if you look in scripture, if you look in scripture you'll see this over and over and over and over every time the gospel was preached. You know, Philip, Peter, James, um, every time Stephen- there were signs and wonders. And you know what? The Bible says they will follow you. Signs and wonders will follow you. You have been given authority, now it's up to us. You have power but it's up to us to exercise the power that God has given us. 

Again, uh, good morning everybody. Kathleen, good morning. Um, Priscilla, Dr. T., so, Jeanette, God bless all of you. I thank you for listening and I want to pray over you that uh, we’ll just be activated in this power, that we'll have uh, courage and faith to to move in this authority and power. It's, and I want to say this one more time. I believe the mistake that, and I've made the same mistake, is I'm waiting for some supernatural sensation to come over me and then when I get this supernatural sensation, I'm going to do something miraculous. Well, let me tell you something. It's not like that. It's called faith, stepping out in faith. I have seen miracles take place, I've seen a lot of stuff over the years. I've seen cancer healed, I saw a lady with a blind eye healed, I saw a young man with a broken leg get up and walk, I've seen a lot of stuff. And many times some and I saw um, a lady laying on the street dead from a car wreck and I prayed over her with a pastor friend of mine, we cast out the spirit of death, and this lady is alive. That's all. She's alive and her family came into the church, her husband, thanking us but it was Jesus that did it, it was Jesus that did it.

But I didn't, I don't always feel anything. I don't feel or sense anything but then God does it. And sometimes honestly, I don't see anything. I pray and I command a spirit to leave or I command healing, I proclaim healing and I don't see anything but I don't stop. But then, every now and then, all of a sudden I see a miracle you can't even explain and sometimes our prayers are just answered but then maybe they're answered later, you know, later. 

And remember this, and I'm gonna, I'm gonna not keep you too long, there's a time to ask God to heal someone but there's also a time to take authority God has given you, do you understand this? In other words, if we're asking God to do something he's told us to do, he's probably not going to do it. The Bible said you will lay hands on the sick and you will heal them. Now, you heal them in the name of Jesus Christ but if you're asking God to do something he told you to do, he's probably going to sit there and do nothing, okay? But he has told you to cast out demons, he's told you to heal the sick, he's told you to move in signs and wonders and I believe, because the Bible is true- this is not Ray Self saying this, this is what the Bible says because the Bible is true- we all can flow in signs and wonders. Amen.

Priscilla thank you for your comment about when you're in the 20s “I found more spirituality in paganism” and this, that comment there, going back the young people, are, they're hungry for spirituality. They're hungry to feed their spirit and so they'll find it in paganism and Wicca and witchcraft and New Age and Satanism because they're not getting it from God. It's counterfeit. But see, we need the power of the Holy Spirit and young people, old people, everybody needs to see the power of the Holy Spirit. The Apostle Paul said our faith should rest on the power of God. The Apostle Paul is a pretty good preacher and teacher, he wrote two-thirds of the New Testament, but he said our faith, your faith, should rest on the power of God. And God's given us authority to use and demonstrate his power. Amen, amen, amen.

The Holy Spirit has come upon us and I thank you for a fresh anointing, fresh fire, Father, and that we will all move in signs and wonders to demonstrate and to show people not only about Jesus but let them see Jesus through your power, Father, your power. Let us see Jesus through your power, that people see Jesus through your power. Touch everyone listening to me, Father, in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, we love you, we praise you, in Jesus name, amen, amen.
