Hello, welcome to Self Talk. I'm your host, me, Dr. Ray Self. I'm so glad you're with me. I've got a very important topic today about living life free. Have you ever noticed that sometimes things get in your way, things happen that you're, that are unexpected? Well, I've got an idea for you how you can live life unobstructed. So, stay tuned. And I'm so glad you're with me. This is Dr. Ray. 

 

Okay, here we go. Living life free. Let's pray first. Heavenly Father, I thank you for everyone listening to this show. Holy Spirit, touch them right now, even through the recording. Touch their lives right now. Let my words be pleasing to you and bring freedom to others. In Jesus’ name. Amen. I've lived a long time. I'm 75 years old at the time of this recording. And it's been a great walk. I've noticed in life, though, things get in my way. Things get in your way. You know, I'm rocking along, having a good day, and all of a sudden something happens that shouldn't happen. Something unexpected, something that uh, throws me for a loop. Sometimes the attack is in my mind. Sometimes the attack is in my spirit. Sometimes it's emotional. But where are these attacks coming from? What, what's going on here? How can I live free without all this stuff that slows me down, stops me in my tracks, makes me stressed, gives me anxiety, and all that stuff? 

 

I want to tell you something. We live in two realms. If you don't know this, you– it's too obvious not to know this. There's a natural realm and a spiritual realm. The spiritual realm surrounds us. It's all around us. And the spiritual realm is affecting our natural realm. The spiritual realm is where angels, demons, and the Holy Spirit reside. Now, you also have the Holy Spirit. If you're saved, you have the Holy Spirit inside of you. But this spiritual realm will affect you and hinder you and stress you and attack your mind, attack your thoughts, even attack your body. And so, to be aware that we're under spiritual assault is, is critical. It is critical.

 

Now listen, there, there are just normal things that happen. You know, you get in a traffic jam, and you can't get to where you're going on time or, um, you have a stressful event happen. But so many times these stressful life blockages are being caused by spirits, demonic spirits. If you are a Christian, demons hate you and have been assigned against you, because you are of God and you have a purpose and you have a call. And Satan doesn't like that. So he's attacking you so he can hurt God. You are working God's purpose out in your life. And Satan doesn't like that, so what he does is he tries to hinder you and obstruct you and frustrate you. And he does it through spirits. Now I– you can't blame everything that goes wrong in your life on demons. I'm not saying that. But I am saying that so much of what goes wrong in our life is demonically inspired or is demonic enhancement. What I mean by that is you have, um, an argument with your wife or with your husband, and here come the demons who magnify that and start giving you thoughts. “Well, they don't really love me. I, I just don't know if I can, can take this anymore. Maybe I should think about divorce. Maybe I should think about living somewhere else.” And that's coming from the demons. Or maybe you have a problem at work, and it's a, it's a problem with a boss or with a, with another employee, and here come the demons and they start magnifying this and blowing it out of proportion. So the demons are magnifiers of the negative, magnifiers of the bad things that happen to us in life. 

 

Sometimes demons will inspire a person to come into your life to say bad things about you, to cause you harm, to hinder you. The demons do a lot of stuff. They're evil. These demons are evil, and they are after to hurt you. So, if you want to live free, you have to be aware of demonic interference. That's what I'm trying to get to. You must be aware of demonic interference. That's why the Apostle Paul said, "Do not be ignorant of Satan's schemes. Do not be ignorant of his schemes. He said we do not battle against flesh and blood. We got to– we battle against principalities and powers in heavenly places. We have a spiritual battle. Not to fight the spiritual battle is just, I'm, I'm going to be blunt here. It's dumb. It's foolish. It is critical that we do spiritual warfare. Not to do your spiritual warfare and your diligence in that area is setting yourself up for a lot of obstacles, a lot of heartaches, making your life more difficult. Jesus said, "Who the Son sets free is free indeed." Okay. And then the Apostle Paul, the Apostle Paul made a, made a beautiful statement in the book of Galatians, and he said this. He said, "It's for freedom that Christ set us free. Therefore, keep standing firm and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery.” What does God want us to do? Jesus said He's given us authority over snakes and scorpions and all the power of the enemy. It's critical, critical, critical that you take authority over these spiritual harassments in your life. Take authority. 

 

Listen, be aware that you are being hindered. You're being obstructed. You're being attacked. You're being assaulted. And so is your family. But you have been given authority. So Jesus set us free. He has given us the ability to live life unhindered. We can live life unhindered. If, if, if you resist the devil, submit to God and resist the devil. You must resist him. And that means spiritual warfare. That means rebuking, renouncing, calling the demons by their name, and commanding these demons in the name of Jesus Christ, which is the name above all names. Commanding these demons to leave, to get out of your life. Command the assignment to stop. Command the assignment to stop in the name of Jesus Christ. Address these demons. Be aware of what you're doing and say, "No more. You will not do this anymore. I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to stop what you're doing. Your assignment is null and void. You will not do this to me or my family or my marriage or my job or my fenances– finances or my body anymore. I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to stop.” Period. 

 

Now, I'm being bold here, but if you don't do this, they will continue to attack you. So, it's like you're being punched in the face and you're, and you have the ability to knock them out, but you don't even take a swing at them. Don't let these demons continue to hinder your life. You– how do you know if it's demonic? Well, there's a gift called discernment. Discernment helps you know. You know, pray for discernment. And I'll tell you something, the demonic is kind of logical. If it's just beyond natural consequences, beyond what normally should be, chances are it's a demonic attack. If it's like all of a sudden your money just dries up out of nowhere, you just keep struggling financially over and over and over again. You never seem to have enough. Well, that's probably an assignment against your life. Every time you turn around, you're sick, and there's some kind of disease affecting your body or your family. That's a, a demonic assignment. Every time something good seems to happen to you, you get a good opportunity, something kind of sabotages it. Well, it's probably a demonic assignment. Maybe you have a good frame of mind. You have a great attitude. You're, you're just thinking happy, joyful thoughts, and all of a sudden, you get this depression, an oppression that comes upon you. Probably a demonic assignment. 

 

Now, again, everything's not caused by demons. We live in a natural world. We have natural stuff that happens to us, but a lot of stuff is caused by demons. We have to do our due diligence. Now, practical things that, that I recommend you do: every now and then, walk around your house and pray over your home. Walk around your yard and say things like, "This house belongs to Jesus Christ. This house is under the authority of Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Nothing that is anything - that is not of Jesus Christ- your assignment is broken, and you cannot come into my house. You cannot come into my yard.” Take authority. Pray. I mean, sometimes you - some of the old charismatics and I used to do this too. I take a little anointing oil and anoint my windows and doors. Um, you know this stuff is good but, and, and you can change the atmosphere of your home. I remember years ago I used to worked for a, a large department store, and I was in commission sales in a large department store, and I had this little habit of every time I went to work I would pray, just say a little prayer at the door of the store as I went to work; say, “I just dedicate today to the Lord Jesus Christ. Lord, I thank you for this day, and I submit this day to you.” And then, of course, a department store, I worked in a particular department. And I go into the department. I say another little prayer. “Lord, this is your, this is your area. This is your day. Uh, I thank you. This area belongs to Jesus Christ.” Interestingly enough, I nearly always was the top salesperson in the store. I make– a matter of fact, at one point I was the top salesperson in the city. And it was just spiritual warfare. 

 

You– we walk, we go into a world that's full of demons. And it's important to put on the armor of God. Remember, Paul said, "Put on the armor of God, the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of, of righteousness,” to, to do all that. Okay? So, it is so, so, so important that we do our job. Now, you think, "Well, God will just protect me." Well, yeah, God protects you, but God gave you an assignment. He gave you a job to do, and your part to do is to do your spiritual warfare. Every day I claim the name of Jesus Christ over me and my family and my job. “I thank you that this home, my life, is protected of Jesus Christ. I will not accept any scheme. I will not accept any assignment, any scheme of the enemy. You are rebuked. You are renounced. Holy Spirit, come fill my house. Fill my soul. Fill me. Fill me fresh. Fill me fresh, Holy Spirit. I praise the name of Jesus Christ. I thank you, Lord. I praise you, Father.”

 

My point is this. Your life is being obstructed. Your life is being hindered by spiritual forces. You do not have to accept this. You do not have to live this way because you have been given authority and power to overcome this. But it's up to you to take action. Do not allow obstructions. Just, just do a little inventory. Where are things unnecessarily difficult in your life? Where are things unnecessarily hard, or just seems like it, it's, it's slowing you down and robbing your peace and robbing your joy? Could be, maybe, likely is a demonic attack. And that's good news in a way because you have the authority to stop all the demonic attacks. Amen. Take authority. Take authority in the name of Jesus Christ and live life unobstructedly. Amen. So, thank you for listening to the show today. I appreciate you. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, for everyone listening to the show, I pray, Father, you'll give us a fresh boldness, a fresh anointing. Holy Spirit, touch us now. Touch us now. Come upon us now. Fresh anointing, fresh fire. Lord, show us where we need to take authority in our life over the schemes and works of the enemy. Show us that area, Father. Forgive us for not standing firm, Father. But Lord, tonight, today, we resist the enemy. We, We submit to you, Lord, and we choose to resist the devil. And we know, Father, that we, we’re, we, when we resist him, he will flee from us.
