What if happiness wasn’t something you had to chase… but something you could engineer on demand?

In this episode of Prosper With Wayne, we break down the science behind happiness—what’s really happening in your brain—and how to take control of it using simple, proven strategies.

You’ll discover how your brain is driven by key neurochemicals like dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins—and why most people are unknowingly stuck in stress mode (cortisol), draining their energy, focus, and motivation.

More importantly, you’ll learn how to hack your happiness daily.

Inside this episode:

  • The 4 brain chemicals that control how you feel (and how to activate them)
  • Why you feel stuck, unmotivated, or disconnected—and how to fix it
  • A simple daily protocol to rewire your brain for happiness and confidence
  • The hidden link between your identity and your emotional state
  • How faith and spiritual alignment create lasting joy (not just temporary highs)

If you’ve been feeling off, stuck, or just know there’s more available for your life—this episode will show you how to take control from the inside out.

Wayne Sutton: Most people think happiness is something you find. But what if I told you it's something you could engineer? Today I'm breaking down the science of happiness, what's actually happening in your brain, and more importantly, how you can hack it on demand. Because when you can control your state, you can control the results of everything in your life. Welcome to another episode of Prosper with Wayne. Welcome to another exciting show of transformation. Prosper with Wayne. Creating wealth, health, and happiness in your life. With your host, life and business coach, author, entrepreneur, and lover of life, Wayne Sutton. Prepare to become excited, expand your beliefs, and truly prosper in all the areas of your life. Enjoy. Happiness isn't random. Happiness is chemical. Your brain runs on several neurochemicals. We're going to talk about four today. that I teach when I'm helping people in their selling and persuasion, that's called the DOS system. Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, and Dorphins. So, let's look at each of those. Dopamine is your motivation and reward center. Oxytocin is connection and trust. Serotonin, confidence and status. And then, Dorphins, pain relief and euphoria. Here's the problem. Most people are not living in those. No, the brain juice that is dripping is most likely cortisol, which is the stress hormone. And when cortisol is high, decision making drops, energy drops, faith drops, and vision shrinks. So when someone says, I just don't feel happy, what they're really saying is their chemistry is out of alignment. Now, let's get real. Most people are addicted to stress, negativity, overthinking, Because the brain has been trained that way. Social media, news, fear-based environments. And over time, your brain becomes wired for survival instead of happiness. Here's another truth. Your brain is pliable. It's plastic. You can rewire it. And once you understand that, you stop being a victim of your emotions and start becoming an architect of your state. If this is your first time with us, hit that subscribe button, hit that bell for notifications, and we look forward to sharing with you more on how to create health, wealth, in this episode, happiness. So let's get tactical. Here's how you engineer happiness daily. Number one, your brain needs winds. So start your day with a wind. Now for many people, it's a cold shower or a cold plunge. Not me. I prefer a warm hot shower. But it's a workout, a cold shower, a complete and small task. Something small that releases dopamine. And you want to stack those. Start off with multiple areas that stack dopamine. Momentum creates happiness. Then, because as humans we're wired for connection, make sure you get that oxytocin activation. Hugging your spouse, not just saying good morning, actual physical contact with your spouse. Hugging your kids before they run off to school. Calling someone, hearing that voice instead of a text message. Making eye contact. And even prayer. Prayer activates this. Because connection to people or to God releases oxytocin. So important. Three, a serotonin boost. You feel better when you respect yourself. OK? You build serotonin by keeping promises to yourself. So find a small promise. Whatever it may be. Maybe it is, I'm going to take something so small. I'm going to take the coffee mug from my office down to the kitchen. Well, I'm every day, I'm going to do 10 piss shups with my morning coffee, something that I'm keeping a small promise. I make the promise and I keep it. Getting sunlight, getting out in the morning, getting that, you know, everyone says 15 to 20 minutes. If it's two minutes, get that sunlight. Okay. And then reflecting on past wins. This is important. Confidence is actually remembered success. If want to be confident, okay, and boost that serotonin, what is something that you have accomplished? Focus on that. A remembered success will bring confidence. Even if you have to say, what did I win yesterday? What was my win? And if you can't think of a win, maybe go back. What was my win last week? What was my win last quarter? What was something I did that was successful? Okay. And when you do this, okay, Remember, you feel better when you respect yourself, your serotonin is going to go up. And then there's endorphin. To activate endorphins, move your body. Movements non-negotiable. Exercise, laugh, push your limits. I take a morning walk almost every morning. Okay. I get out there and I move quick. In my morning walk, I'm praying. I'm talking to God. I'm having that, you know, that part of that relationship moved. ⁓ exercise, laugh, whatever it may be. Again, exercise is going to be Depending on where you're at in your physical body and your goals just move that short walk Listening to some great music that short walk with maybe your spouse or short walk talking to God It will increase those endorphins movement is non-negotiable Even finding something that will make you laugh. I love dry bar comedy. So it's a clean Comedy show. I like to jump them and just listen to it sometimes Just until I find a good chuckle, until I just have a good laugh myself. So again, endorphins matter. Number four is identity shift. Now those who've worked with me in sales and persuasion coaching, we talk about identity a lot, but here's where people miss it. Happiness isn't just habits, it's identity. If you see yourself as I'm stressed, I'm overwhelmed, I'm stuck, then your brain will prove it. But when you shift to I'm someone who creates joy. I control my state. have a multi-million dollar mindset. When you begin to shift your identity, everything changes because your brain follows your identity. Now, obviously, let's talk about the spiritual component. Science explains the chemicals, OK? But faith explains the source. In fact, there's happiness, which my pastor says happens because of what's Happening, happiness comes from what's happening around you. But then there's the joy, which actually, for a Christian, a joy is the fruit of the Spirit. It means the Spirit of God within you, joy comes from that, regardless of circumstances. So it's not dependent on circumstances, it's produced internally. So you can be in chaos and still have peace. Why? Because true happiness isn't external, it's spiritual alignment. So let me give you a practical daily protocol. Here's your happiness protocol, okay? In the morning, we wake up, move your body, get the endorphins going. Again, get out, get out into the sunshine, go for that walk, that run, that exercise, whatever it is. When early, for me, I look at the walk, okay? I have my Apple watch and I time myself. How long does it normally take me to walk one mile? Can I beat that time? Can I walk two miles? What am I looking at? Well, I have something that is a win for me. So in the morning, I've got endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine by moving my body, getting some sunlight, and making a win. Midday, connect with someone. Again, maybe it's someone that you pick up the phone and call them. Maybe your spouse or a family member that is literally a physical hug. Connect with someone. At night time, reflect on your wins for today. Get that serotonin going. Pray. Spend time with your Creator. Prayer in maybe even a gratitude journal. Release that oxytocin and bring it into a place of peace. And if you'll do this for 30 days, you'll literally rewire the brain. The neuroplasticity will change. That's so fun. It's not just do it for 30 days and it becomes a habit. No, do it for 30 days and something changes. Literally. Physically inside of your brain. So now do I walk every day? No But most do I connect with my spouse every day? Absolutely. Do I connect with my kids? Yes Do I spend time in prayer? Absolutely. I never miss it. However, that was times I did I had to build it into the until literally the mind is Expecting it. Okay, and now I walk in this area where the dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins are flooding my system, and with that, I walk in happiness, and I make better decisions. So here's the bottom line. Happiness isn't luck. It's a strategy. And when you learn to control your state, you don't just feel better, you perform better. You lead better. You live better.
