Robert Maiolo was tired of "do this, do that" self-help books. He knew there had to be a better way to find meaning, direction and answers in life. Rather than a book full of answers, Maiolo wrote "The Book With No Answers" - a book packed with thought-provoking questions that will enable readers to find their own answers in life. This book not only presents some of life's most important question's, but looks at them in a new light, and helps the reader begin the journey of finding their own answers. Tackling everything from "Who am I?" to "Who do I want to be in 30 years?" - The Book With No Answers will help readers understand that some of life's most meaningful questions can be answered by looking inward. This will be the last self-help book you will ever need. The first thing you need to know about me is that I’m a teacher who writes vs a writer who teaches. My students have always been my inspiration and my books would be very different if not written through the lens of an educator who is deeply worried that our children have become disheartened about a country I love. To me, this does not feel like an abstract problem. A country without patriotism feels like a country that will wither, a wandering nation without a soul. I’ve taught at one public high school in Bakersfield, CA for over 25 years. The same school where my dad taught for over 20 years. The school where I met my wife and the school I graduated from, as did my 4 siblings. Lest you think I’m a guy who simply can’t get another job, the reason I’ve stayed in one place is because my school is located in a region that is an incredibly diverse microcosm of America. It is endlessly changing and thus always new and fascinating. We have brilliant and beautiful diversity at our s…

Ben has lived and worked in New York City since 1969. His essays and book reviews about New York City, American history, and Yiddish culture have appeared online and in print in CUNY’s Gotham History Blotter, The New Partisan Review, Columbia County History and Heritage, and Ducts literary magazine. Ben’s first book, Butchery on Bond Street – Sexual Politics and the Burdell-Cunningham Case in Ante-bellum New York, appeared in May 2007. Its tale of an infamous unsolved murder case from the 19th century is told “like a gaslight-era episode of Law & Order” (The New Yorker). His second book, Call Me Daddy – Babes and Bathos in Edward West Browning’s Jazz-Age New York, appeared in June 2009. The retelling of a notorious tabloid scandal “captures in delicious fashion the philandering real estate magnate in all his buffoonery” according to Sam Roberts in The New York Times. Diversity is one of my passions. With dual Canadian-U.S. citizenship, a Japanese-American mother, and a B.A. in African history and classical literature, I have quite the eclectic background. I grew up in California and moved to the East Coast of the USA in my mid-twenties, recently settling in Alberta, Canada to raise my three daughters. I started my writing career at age four with a "self-published" horror story about the monster in the closet. The story was highly lauded by my closest family members. Since then, I've received a number of writing awards and accolades from people not even vaguely related to me, but I still have a soft spot for that first short story. I grew up in a family with its feet in the past and its head in the future. My grandmothers were taught rudimentary reading and writing at home, but my father and uncles were university graduates and part of Iran's emerging technocratic elite. I've come a very long way even from that: whereas one of my great grandfathers had 25 wives and concubines, I have a PhD from MIT. I am curious: fascinated as much by technology as by the human experience. I started writing for Iranian magazines and journals (including the prestigious weekly Ferdousi) at the age of 14. As a journalist, I became acutely aware of the chasm developing between the traditionalists living in south Tehran and the modernists living in North Tehran. My grandparents lived in South Tehran. I lived with my family in North Tehran. I knew both sides.
