All Mental Work episodes and social media posts are recorded and published in alignment with relevant sections of the AHPRA/Psychology Board of Australia Code of Conduct, the APS Ethical Guidelines on Working in and With the Media, and relevant legislation such as the Australian Privacy Act (1988). Dr Bronwyn Milkins takes her ethical, professional, and legal obligations seriously and is committed to upholding them.
Confidentiality. All Mental Work episodes and social media posts adhere to the relevant sections concerning confidentiality in the AHPRA Code of Conduct and relevant legislation such as the Australian Privacy Act (1988). When there is an educational impetus to provide a case example on podcast episodes, Dr Bronwyn Milkins safeguards confidentiality by 1) providing a fictional composite of several individuals or, 2) describing a generic hypothetical example or, 3) self-disclosing limited information from my own experiences. With respect to self-disclosure, only information necessary to facilitate an educational point or core aim of the podcast (e.g., universality of experiences) is disclosed. All personal information disclosed is carefully considered. Current or recently discharged clients are never referenced on the podcast. Podcast guests are advised to not discuss confidential client material on the podcast and, if such information is inadvertently shared during recording, it is edited out before public release.
