Ep. 8: The Village of 100: A Human Design Story

We’ve spent the last five episodes exploring each of the Human Design energy types individually. But Human Design isn’t just about understanding your own type. It’s also about understanding how all of our different energies work together.

So in this mini episode, we’re zooming out.

Using a village of 100 people, I’ll show you what happens when we put all five energy types together and give everyone a role to play.

In this episode, we’ll explore:

  • How Manifestors initiate and get new ideas moving
  • Why Generators and Manifesting Generators provide so much of the life-force energy that gets things built
  • How Projectors can step back, see the bigger picture, and guide how energy is being used
  • Why Reflectors can act as a barometer for the health of the whole community
  • Why being capable of doing something doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best use of your energy
  • What happens when we expect everyone to work and contribute in the same way
  • How understanding your energy can help you question where you may be exhausted, bored, burned out, or simply trying to operate like someone you’re not

Human Design isn’t about deciding which energy type is best. It’s about recognizing that we were never all meant to do the same job.

What are you meant to do? How does your energy operate best? How are you designed to make decisions? What are your natural strengths? And where might you have gotten off track?

This is the bigger conversation I want to explore on Human Design Field Notes.

And next episode, we’re taking it out into the field with my first official Field Notes episode. I’ll share what I’m discovering as I experiment with my own design and use Human Design to build my next business in real time.

Sandy: Welcome to Human Design Field Notes. This is where we learn human design in a way that's simple, fun, and actually useful in real life. The kind of thing you can try for yourself, talk about with your girlfriends, and before long, you'll want to know everyone's chart. And I'm not just teaching it, I'm testing it too. I'm rebuilding my coaching business using my own human design and I'll be sharing the field notes as I go. The experiments, the insights, the wins, the mistakes, and probably a few things we can all have a good laugh about. Because human design isn't meant to be stared at on a chart. It's meant to be lived. I'm your host, Sandy Connery. Let's see where this takes us. Welcome to episode eight. we're gonna do something a little different today. This is gonna be more of a mini episode, a very short episode, because I realized the last five episodes have been going in detail about all the different five the five different energy types in human design. However, what I failed to do is I've just basically isolated all of you into these buckets, like here's your label, here's all about you. But I want to show you in this episode how all the different energy types interact in society. So how each type is just as important as the other, and then each of us has a unique role to play in society. So we're not in isolation with our little own strategies, but it all is important to work together for the for the whole, for the collective. Okay, so I wrote a little analogy for all of you to demonstrate how we all interact together. So let's imagine there is a hundred people and they want to be a village. And they found this beautiful piece of land, but right now there's there's nothing there. It's just beautiful empty land. Among those 100 people are 10 manifestors. One of them looks around and says, this is where we should build the village. Another says, Hey, we're gonna need a hospital. And another one says, Hey, we're gonna need a hum community hall. Another one says, We need a bakery, we need houses, we need a school. We definitely need a coffee shop. And suddenly things start happening. That's what manifestors bring to the village is initiation. They are the people who get something moving that wasn't there before. They're bringing new ideas, they're starting things, they're opening up new possibilities, and they're really getting the rest of us moving. But somebody actually has to build those buildings, create those ideas. So That's where our generators and manifesting generators or many gens come in. There are 67 of them in this village. They're the life force energy of this village. They're pouring the foundation, they're like cutting the lumber, they're framing the walls, they're the carpenters, the masons, the craftsmen, the builders, the worker bees, basically. And some of them, of these workers, the pure generators, might be doing one job all day that they absolutely love. And others, the Manny Jinns, they might be bouncing between three different jobs. They might be hammering and then they might move to roofing and then they move over to tiling. But collectively, they have this sustainable energy to build the village. So now we have 67 people working on this building. but someone needs to kind of stand back and look at the whole system, the whole picture. That's our projectors. There's 22 of them. The projectors To use them wisely, we don't need them unloading bags of cement for twelve hours trying to prove how hard they work. No, they are our project managers. They're looking around and saying, Hey, wait a second. We've got six people over there waiting for materials to start on the bakery, but no one's working on the coffee shop. And look, Shannon is over there who we know is really good at electrical work, and why do we have her stacking bricks? If we can streamline all of this, our village will be built three days earlier, three days faster. So they're seeing how the people, the systems, and the energy could work better together. They're not necessarily here to supply the energy, they're here to help guide it. And then that leaves, if you're following my math, that leaves one person left who, of course, is the reflector. 1% of the population are reflectors. The reflector isn't designing the building or managing the workers or hammering the nails. They're walking through the village and noticing and feeling, observing how well is this working? Is the foundation solid? Does the building feel good to be in inside? Did we create something healthy for the community, something good for the community? They're like our building inspector or quality control. They're like the barometer of our village. And because reflectors are so sensitive to both environment and people, which we talked about the last episode, they're not only inspecting the building, they're also reflecting the health of the people who built the village. They're like constantly, how's it going? Right? Good vibes only. They're gonna make sure we are in a good place. And if something is going wrong, they're gonna make sure they can reflect it back to us. So if we zoom out for a second and summarize this, summarize our village, we've got a village of 100 people. We have a small group who are initiating things, the manifestors. We have a large group supplying the energy to build, the generators and the manigens. We have another group watching how that energy is being used and guiding it. And that's the projectors. And then we have one person reflecting the health of the whole system back to us, the reflector. So human design isn't saying one type of one energy type is better than another. It's really saying we are never supposed to do the same job. We all have our unique talent and skill. But if you look how our current society is set up, that that like our current society would walk into that village and say, Hey, everyone, grab some hammer and nails, let's work some long days and get this done. The projector grabs the hammer and nails, the manifestor, the reflector, they all grab hammer and nails and get to work. We know that everyone can pick up hammer and nails. That's not the problem. The problem is that we've mistakenly decided somewhere that everyone should contribute in the same way. And that's really what I want this whole podcast, this conversation around human design to be about. Like, what are you meant to do? How does your energy actually work? How are you designed to make decisions? What are your natural strengths? Why are you so exhausted all the time? Are you bored? Are you burned out? Are you always angry? Why does something seem to work so beautifully and easily for someone else, but feel so hard and awful for you? How much rest do you actually need? Are you getting it? Where have you been trying to operate like somebody else when you're just not them? Right? So, like where did you go off track? That's what I want to explore. And I just wish so deeply that that could that each of you could learn this in your own life. that's what has me excited about human design. Like the benefit it can bring to a single person's life. It's just so enormous. And it's not about looking at a chart and like, you know, g learning a bunch of labels that I'm, you know, you're a manifesting generator who's great at storytelling. That's interesting, but I wanna take that into actual life. I wanna take that into your life. What happens if you start to operate as the person that you're actually designed to be. And where can you unlearn what society has taught you and start working with that true design? So if you perfect segue here, I just set up myself up. If you'd like help understanding your own design, I would love to work with you. And you can join the wait list for a reading with me at sandyconnery.com, depending on when you're listening to this or may no longer be a wait list, but head over there and check it out. And we're gonna look at your chart together and start to figure out how this your particular design shows up in your life. All right, so that's the little mini episode. Next episode, we're gonna do exactly what I just described with my design. It's going to be my first official human design field note, and I'm setting these episodes up so that I can share what I've been noticing about. my own design as I experiment with it, learn from human design and how I'm gonna build my business with it. So I'm really like bringing this like it's much i it's exposing the kind of the trial and error that I'm doing with using human design to build my own business. So we will see you in the next episode. Thank you everyone. If you're ready to start learning your own human design, grab your free chart at sandyconnery.com.
