In the last time that I left you in this series, Christy Mack was in the process of testifying regarding her abuse, not only the night in question that got John Coppenhavior and that's war Machine arrested, but also the prior abuse. Now as shocking as it's I told you at the end of the last episode about war Machine getting caught cheating on Christy Mack. Even though this dude was allowed to kind of step outside this relationship as long as she was aware of it.

4:14 He couldn't even stick to that. So she breaks up with war Machine and she's trying to go about life. And that's where we're going to pick up today with this first clip of Christy Mack discussing her new relationship with another guy that played a key role in this case, and that is Corey Thomas. So here's that clip. Before we had taken a recess, I was asking you some questions in regards. To your the breakup that. You and the early summer of twenty fourteen, and after the two of you broke up, did you meet someone by the name of Corey Thomas?

I did not after you after meeting Corey and starting a relationship with him. Did the two of you take a few trips together? We went to San Diego one times. And when you were in San Diego in the public, would would people come up to you sometimes and ask for a picture? Yes? And was it if an individual took a picture with you to then post it on some type of social media and tag you? Yes, we were on your trip in San Diego?

6:33 Did the diff while you were on your trip in San Diego soon thereafter? Did the defendant find out about your relationship? Yes? He did? And how was that? He said, I can't believe that you'd still be talking to me when you're dating this guy and things like that. And do you you found out about your relationship with Corey? I assume online one of his friends had told. Him and so when he reached out to you, he was angry that you were still speaking to him yet seeing someone else. Yes, did he did he do something. Or say something to you that made you kind of rush to him? A few weeks later, when I was in San Francisco, he had threatened suicide because he felt me, and he said nobody cares about me. I might as well just in my life.

7:24 Now, had he threatened suicide before? I'm he? I don't know. Now did you go and then see him? Did you travel to see because of that? That's part of the reason. Yes. And do you know, like approximately what is that in July or August when you see him? Because of this, the part of it being the suicide. Issue, it would have been late July, I believe. And when you go to see him, do you go in to Sandy A go to see him? Yes? I could. How long a time did you spend with him?

8:04 Two days? I think during that period four I would still talk to Koori. Yes. And so after or while you're spending time with the defendant in San Diego. Are you guys getting along? Are you moving towards getting back together? I believe so the first night I wasn't. I wasn't feeling that well, So I took some niq will and tried to go to sleep. But he wanted to have sex, so he was very He was mad that I didn't want to have sex that night. Okay, but the the rest of your days there were you guys getting along. Yeah, the other day it was just finance corfect.

8:47 So after at some point you leave you and had to come back to Las Vegas. Yes, you get back to Las Vegas. In your head, are you working back towards defend? And what are your. Feelings about Corey? I stopped texting him pretty much altogether, and he. Noticed me pulling away. And when he noticed you pulling away. Did you you send him kind of a detailed text message regarding you kind of falling into bad habits or using words like that. Yes. And I also had a talk with him. I told him I no longer wanted to continue a sexual relationship.

9:30 That and he had seen pictures of John and I together online, so he knew that you would get that. Jonathan and I were were working towards the relationship again. Now even though you were going to have a sexual relationship with him, Like, did. You still did you still want to make in Ucasia with him or hanging out with him? Yeah? He was a very nice person. He was a great friend, Like he would help me anytime I would need help. It's just it was just have a person like that round. So at that point you have so this is like late July, you're are you working, You're in the defendant's relationship getting back together and kind of getting back on that yes, relationship. Yes, at this point in time, do you think things are going to be better? Do you think things are going to change?

10:23 I honestly believed that things were going to be better. Why did you do that? He said that he had changed, and I feel like that was the first time he had ever said that he was going to change, and he honestly made me believe like. It could be. Differences use the terms like I'm sorry, I'm going to change, I'm going to be better. He had Any time he had hit me before, he had never apologized, He had never said the words i'm sorry. He had never said that he was going to never do it again. But but for this, the start of this relationship, I felt like.

11:03 Things were going to be different. Like he did apologize, he did say you know I'm going to change that they are better. So yeah, and you thought that that's how it's going to be. Yeah, okay, So now I'd like to turn your attention to August seventh of twenty fourteen. Were you getting prepared to do a tast two conventions at. The South Point? Yes? I was like, what were going to be your job duties or your role in that convention? They gave me a large booth, so it's going to be selling my products. I was going to be doing as signing, take things like that. And did you need help setting up the booth for the convention?

11:44 Yes? I did? And who did you ask to help you? I had asked several people. I had actually John to do it. He said he was unavailable, so I asked Corey to do it and he helped me. And was John going to be unavailable the entire week or just for certain parts of it? He said for just just certain parts of it. He said he had a fight to attend in La the day that it was beginning, okay, and that would be on. The eighth, correct, Yes, And so were you expecting him though later on either later on on the eighth or on the on the weekend. Yes, And were you communicating with him, either via text or on the phone about your guy's. Plans for the weekend.

12:26 I don't think we had any secure plans, but he couldn't be there on that day, and I would tell him like, I wish you could be I wish you were here. I wish you were here to help me, I wish you could go to convention things like that. But was it you that he would be there later in the weekend, Yes, it was okay. So what did you and Corey do on August seven to prepare for the convention the following day? I had gone and uh collected all the all the things that I would need to put in my booth, like boxes and and like lamps, little carpets, seats things like that, a table to put my products on, and and it was way more than one car load.

13:06 Helped me with his roommates rover, okay. And when his roommate had our range rover, yes, okay. And so do the two of you then pack up both your le and his vehicle with the convention items that you just mentioned. We only packed up mine that night, and the next morning we were going to pack up all of my products into his vehicle, okay. And so in the evening hours of August seven, in the later evening hours, like between ten or eleven o'clock, does he come over to your home with some dinner? Yes, he brought us salads. And where did you know where his vehicle was parked in remarts to your house? I'm not exactly sure. And where was your vehicle? My room was inside and my car was outside of the garage.

13:51 After you know, you guys ate your salad, what'd you do after that? I felt, coach. I don't remember what we were watching, but we were watching my movie. And at any point in the evening had you texted the defendant or texting had any photos of yourself? I'm sure I have, but you don't have like an independent recollection of what it was. No, I don't, okay. And at some point, do you guys decide to go to yes, And do you remember what you were wearing? I was wearing like a flowy gym tank top and in tight shorts. And what was do you remember what Corey was wearing? Black shorts? And when the two of you go to bed, do you where do each of you sleep?

14:37 I sleep on my normal side, which is away from the door, and then the dogs always sleep by me, and then he slept on the other side of the bit. Okay, now, after being asleep for a period of time, are you awakened by something? Yes, Soyzy let out a small bark and I didn't think of anything of it, so I laid back down. And a little bit after that, you awaken your alerted to something? Yes? Can explain what he ways. John came in and turned the lights on. He set his things down, and then he started yelling at Corey. Do you remember what it was? And he was saying I don't. I don't remember exactly what he was saying to him. What happened?

15:18 I let the dogs outside because John had been batting one of my dogs before and I didn't want them to get hurt. So I set the dogs outside and I closed the door. And at this point he starts hitting Corey. He jumps on top of him and starts hitting Corey. Where's he hitting Corey in the face? So they're both on laying down and John just starts hitting him. Eventually they start rolling around and fall to the floor and I call nine one one, How. Do you call me? One? Can you explain it? I grabbed my phone out of out of the bathroom and I down on line one one and I set it down. On the ledge that. My bedroom where the bed is, and then the bathroom and says it's all fairly open, and so I set the phone down so they could hear everything. Why did you set it down though I didn't want to not John to seeing it with the phone. Why as I knew he would hurt me.

16:13 So you kind of just. Set it down close to where you are. Yes, and you've had the opportunity to previous hearing to hear your nine and one calls ap right, Yes, that's friend. Did you to turn that copy of the ninety one calling youmat in the early morning hours of August eight? Yes, and you're on it this time. You're yelling John's name? Yes? Do you at some point are you screaming John stopped? Stopped You're going to kill him? Yes? Did you think that that's what was going to happen? Yes? I did. Did the descendant choke you or beating Corey?

21:01 How did that end? Eventually he just stopped, He let him go, stopped. He's you just it looked like they were both just hired. And then he sat him down and Corey asked him what his end gang was and said, you know, basically that he was just going to let him go, but if he told any want to call the cops that he was going to send his friends after him. Did Corey gang leave the rest kinds? Yes? He did. Did you were you ever able. Or I should say, did the GUS ever try to make contact with you back via the telephone? Yes? They tried to call back, but I was just so in the situation that I didn't answer, and I figured that since I had made the call, would already be on their way.

21:49 Were you ever able to erase the call log in case the defendant found your phone? Yes? I did. And did you erase call that you made to nine one one? Yes? I did? And did you erase the call on them calling you? Yes? I did. After Corey leaves the house, what is the next thing that you remember? As soon as Corey John takes his shirt off and me, he said, this is why I can't wear white because I'll always mess it up. And then I remember him running at me, and then past that, I just remember being in the ship. Okay, So you remember the defendant running toward you?

22:32 Yes? And are you near the bathroom area? I'm standing at the life put the phone, so it's the space in between the bedroom and bathroom. Okay, So I will show you just so you can kind of get an idea. I'm showing you what's been marked Evid and Evan's state post. What seven Is this a picture where you could show where you're standing. Or it's right here in corner where this this is the last shore I puts. Okay, I'll get that in. I'm seking great. And before we get into the. That we were, I was just going to ask you some questions about at any time when Corey was still at the house to be defendant, ask you questions or ask you to tell Corey thanks.

At this point, Corey leaves, and in the prior episode we discussed what happened from his point of view after he left, but we never really got the full details of the sheer horror that was happening to Christy Mack in the meantime in that two hours after Corey Thomas left. Well, you're about to hear about it. And of course I mean to warn you that it only gets more disturbing as well as we go along. So here's that club.

24:03 Now. You said that after Corey leaves, you remember the defendant running at you. Yes, and then you remember the next thing you remember is being in the shower. Yes. Do you remember how you got in the shower? I don't know how I got in the shower. Do you remember what you were in the shower? Did you have clothes on or off? They were off and the. Shower but the top wasn't like when you got homembar. Yeah. I found the shorts in the shower like later after you had been in the hospital. Yeah. So do you know how you got en dressed? No? I can throw When you were in the shower. What was the defendant doing? He was going through my phone and yelling at me through the glass.

24:43 What was he yelling about? I don't remember exactly what he was yelling about anymore. At that point in time, you did you think you had it? Yes? I could taste blood in my mouth, so I knew I had been hit in the face, and I also I have I don't remember how I got before. So is there anything else that happens in the shower besides him yelling at you through the glass for how you got. Out of the shower. No, I don't. What's the very next thing you remember? I remember waking up on the floor I was laying on and he was sitting next week and going through my phone. Anytime you would see something that he didn't like, like someone I had followed on Instagram, you would hit me.

25:33 I remember at some point while I was laying there, I feel like the two bought by Chuck. I don't know hit were the hits with the open hand or a close fit. I can't be sure. So every time he found something he didn't like on his song, he would strike you to the face. Yes, what's the next thing you remember? Past that. I went to? I just remember being. Right in front of the shower like I was about was staked up, and he kicked me in the gris so hard that I fell over and be s. Did you ever ask him for help or to stop?

26:16 Just after this? I told him that I did help. It's like I genuinely felt like I was going to die this poor What did he say? He told me that nobody could help me. He told me that they were just broken ribs, and there's nothing they can do to heal that. Anyway, He told me, I threw the dog's blanket on top of me because he thought I was just cold. That's the reason I was hazy, So he threw the dog blanket on top of me. At any point in time, did she ever use any weapons against you? Explain how he. Had a knife. It was one of my kitchen set knives.

He cut up all of my wigs because he always hated my He he cut my head. Okay, I yeap. When he was digging, you know, like you said, he's digging it into your ear, into your hands, into your head. Is he Is he still angry? Is he still yelling at you? Yes? He is? What's what is he yelling? What is he so angry about it? That way?

27:38 I don't know what he's still angry at that? I mean, I remember, I just remember him still being so angry. He broke the handle off to the knife and still continued to use the knife blade in his hand to push it into me to. Push him too. The parts that you were talking about before. Ye. After, I mean when this knife is being used, you're fearful of the knife and in general. Yes. And at some point does this incident turn into like a sexual violature?

28:19 Yes, it does between me on all fours. I don't know how I got into this position, but I was laying facing the closet on my we're up. He licked his hand and wiped it across night vagina and said, that's my pussy. I'm gonna take it back. Say he wiped your vagina? Did he ever penetrate the vaginal hole? No? You did not.

I believed at that point if he could and he was going to or sexifarm me, but he never did. At this point you've been beating about the face. Is that. You have lacerations or cuts in several places. Is that right? Yes? Are you missing teeth at this point? Yes? I am. Are you naked throughout this part of it? Yes? Is there a good amount of blood on your face and your body?

I've gone too far. You can't be see like this. Everyone's gonna note. Did you try to talk him down off of that that's not said? Would you say, go on vacation but nobody has to see? He said, I can't take you anywhere because people will see. And then I tell him we can just help people work up a non vacation. We can just tell my mom we're going on vacation.

30:22 And he's like, well, that's not gonna work because your mom has to come over and take care of the dogs. I said, you could drop the dogs off his house so she doesn't have to come over. She won't have a reason to see me. She'll think I'm gone. And I keep trying to give him reasons. Who had your phone at this point? We did during this time. Are you still afraid of him? Yes? Are you still afraid of the weapon? Yes? When this when he licked his hand and put it on your vagina, were you stealing fear of the weapon at that point in time?

He had it throughout the entire thing. When you are. With him in the room, in your bedroom and your bathroom that area. Did he ever message friends or family of yours? I found out later that he had a message. I'll me ask the question more well, in your presence, did you ever see him messaging anyone on your phone? Yes? I saw him with my phone messaging people. Did he ever tell you anything that he was messaging to your love and to No?

31:50 Did he ever leave your presence. At the end, As far as I know, this is the only time he left my presence. At the end, he took both of the phones, mine and his, and he went down. To the kitchen. What had he sent you before he went down? This was right after This was right after he told me that he had to kill me. And when he do you say he went downstairs? Yes, he went downstairs to the kitchen. When he went down How do you know he was in the kitchen, I could hear the metal in the drawers. What did you think was going on? I believed he was getting another knife, since the other one broken killed me. What did you choose to do? I go?

32:34 And I went outside and went through the doors on my balcony where I put the dogs out earlier, and I closed the doors so the dogs wouldn't come in. Know that I left. Not let John know that you had left. Yes, And we foped the book over the fits to the golf course in the backyard. Then I knew if if he saw that I wasn't there anymore, this is the only way I. Could have gone. Don't make it. Yes, since I had the blanket around me that he had thrown on me. Where did you go? I went to my neighbors. I went over to the fence of my neighbor's house, and I went through their garvage night and hopped on her back door.

Yes, it was the last house at the end of the street. And these are neighbors that I had met before. The people who me opened the door to you. Had you met them before? No, I had never met them before.

34:00 But do they make contact with place and let you know that they'd contacted. Yes, he told me that I could hide behind the wall. Did he let you into his house? No? From the time that Corey left and tell the time that you make contact with those neighbors. Did your beating did your assault last that entire time? Yes? Do you have a recollection of police and ambulance showing up to that house where you were staying behind like the wall or the bush or whatever.

34:43 The only thing I remember is them asking to take one picture while I was already in the end. It's not so all I remember. And who asked to take a picture? I'm not sure who it was. And when you do you remember getting to the hospital. I don't remember getting to the hospital. I remember the first thing I remember in the hospital one of my teeth was hanging out, and he pushed my tooth back in. Do you have any recollection speaking to patrol officers at the house. No, we don't, excuse me, not at the house. I called you. At the hospital, I remember speaking to someone, but I don't know who it was.

35:26 Do you have a requestion of going through your sexual assault NAR's examination and I don't remember that. And do you sitting down and speaking with a detective where you gave an interview on a recorder? I remember parts of that, and that's the one I do remember. During that initial day in the hospital, which would be you know, the early the morning hours of August eighth, were you aware that the defendant had not been apprehended. No one had told me yet. I didn't learn until a few hours later when my mom had told me that he had not been caught. Yeah, at that point, were you scared? He was like, was how long were you at the hospital for? And admitted into that. I believe it was only few days.

36:18 When you got out of the hospital. Did you returned to the house where this had all. Occurred at I went for maybe fifteen minutes to gather some things, but there I wasn't allowed to go back for a while because there were so many camera crews and things out there. Did you pretty much stayed in hiding for several weeks? I did for a little over a week. And then. At some point are you allerdered to the fact that the defendant had been apprehended and was in custody. Yes, how who were you with, if you were with anyone when that happened.

36:59 I was at my friend Way's house. Did you find your phone or receive your phone back? No? I did not to this day. Have you ever had access to your phone? Now? While the defendant. Was, you know, before he had been caught, did he attempt contact with you via email? I received one email in the hospital. And in regards. To those emails, yea, yes, I'm showing you what's been marked for purposes and identification had states proposed one sixty.

40:15 You know the defendance behavior sometimes after a beating where he'd become more loving. Does this reflect that type of behavior? Yes, it does. What were your injuries at the hospital? And my eyes were swollen shut, I could open my right one a little bit. My nose was broken in multiple places. One of my teeth was put up, the other one was have. I had a large bruise that covered much the entirety of my left leg. I had a lacerated liver, which was surgery of it. I was a healthy person, so it healed itself. You can't, I can't think of any more right now.

41:02 Did you have a blowout fracture to your eye, so I didn't order with a blow out frost. In the kind of days, weeks and months after that. Did you have to undergo several surgeries? It's like, do you explain the surgerys that you had to say? I had to have my nose crested. He had to rebreak my nose in a couple of spots to realign it. So it's a little easier. I had to have at least four oral surgeries, and I'm still going to lose several of my teeth over the. Next couple of weeks. Do you have any scars? I have scar tissues still in this lip that it doesn't anyway, but that's pretty much physically it.
