17 Hey, everybody, welcome back, and we have a conglomerate of topics. How you like that, guy, conglomerate of topics to go over with you today. We're going to start off in Louisiana with the lsu Ole Miss rivalry hitting a new high or a new load, depending on who you are a fan of. It got physical during a baseball game in Oxford. We're covering that twelve guns confiscated during the Louisiana's Strawberry Festival. We're going to be talking all about that. Oklahoma's principal heroically tackles a gunman inside of high school. This is all over the place. As a matter of fact, it is so trending that I talked about it before.
00 We talked about it. Before we talked about it. Excused USA talking about it? Long story there, we'll get into it. Chrisly knows best star Lindsey Christly has been assaulted by her boyfriend. We're gonna tell you all about that. Baby Jessica. Do you know who baby Jessica is? I do. That's right, Yeah, I remember that, that's right. You were very young. I was. I remember watching it. Well. She's back in the news after an arrest in Texas. So we're gonna be talking about that Nebraska kidnapping leads to a fatal shooting in a horrific scene. Uh where, Actually there were some screenshots of the lady with a knife in her hand. This occurred at a Walmart. I believe it was in Nebraska. We're gonna be talking about that a new pole rates the most popular ice cream flavors, And this is gonna be our utterly unrelated segment for today.
55 We'll be bringing that to you. An Ohio firefighter executes his second mother, That's how he referred to her, then responds to the scene to put out the fire that he said, of course he did. Is that not crazy? All right? True Crime Time Machine. We're gonna be going to a Florida State campus shooting that occurred just last year, actually one year ago. Today, we're gonna be revisiting that. We have a foolish felon's segment that Kelly's gonna be telling you about, and of course, over time, we'll be following the regular show. So with that, I'm Jim Chapman. And I'm Kelly Jennings. What you got to say today. Kelly, I.
37 Thought that I had early on set dementia because I saw you post that principal video on our TikTok and you said we had talked about it, and you know, you don't lie to me, Jim, And I'm like, oh my god, I do not remember talking about that. I could have sworn that we did. And then I realized I printed out the article and never actually talked about it. All of like, oh my god, how do I not remember this? Yeah, everybody was probably like that that saw it. But we're going to talk about it today, so I will catch you up. And of course it's just a few days past tax day. You get that done, Kelly, absolutely not thank you for the extension that it was filed on my behind? Did you really follow?
18 Ran out of time too? Paranoid? I feel like if you follow an extension, they're really going to be lucky taxes. This is a testament, though, to our personality differences, because you were like anal retentive about like timelines and deadlines of things, and I'm more of a round about. Her, you know, like. You know, hey, yeah, here comes the audience auditor. That's all I can say. I don't know. I'm bad at that. I'm mad at math and I'm bad at technology. I did my best. Yeah, well we'll get into we'll stop talking about taxes. It was a you know, a crazy year for everybody from what I understand with the with the knee tax laws, et cetera. But we'll get into today's show, and we're going to start off in Old man Us, but kind of via Louisiana. And I'm going to tell you about a fifty two year old LSU fan. So's he's only a year older than me. He was arrested this past Saturday night following a chaotic brawl in the stands during a college baseball game between the Old Miss Rebels and LSU Tigers at Swasey Field. Alton Bloodworth, that's great last day, was booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center. This was well.
31 He was charged with simple assault, and he was released after posting get this a three hundred and thirty two dollars and twenty five cent bond. Hell yeah, they even got it down to twenty five cent. That's right. According to witness accounts, police reports, and multiple viral videos circulating on social media, blood Worth, wearing LSU gear, was being escorted out of the right field student section. This is general emission bleachers. When an old miss fan threw a drink on him from behind. As security intervened, Bloodworth charged back into the crowd, threw a punch with his left hand and struck the man in the face, knocking him to the ground. He then struck the man again before the scuffle was broken up. Now, multiple video angles do appear to show blood Worth hit the wrong person and security may have grabbed the incorrect individual. Initially. Blood Worth was handcuffed at the scene and transported to jail, and he faces a charge of simple assault. Now, the incident occurred during game two of the weekend series between the sec rivals. LSU ultimately lost the game, adding to the fan frustration that reportedly boiled over. The altercation quickly went viral. Clips were shared on Instagram, x, read at, etc.
45 And it sparked debates among fan behavior, stadium security, all that kind of thing that you would expect. Now, I'll tell you Lane Kiffin he weighed in on this. Of course, he is the former Ole Miss had football coach and he had his thoughts to share. He shared a social media post on ex it was deleted. He deleted it a little later on. However, you know I was quicker than he was in the instance, and I screenshot it. Oh my goodness, that post. And he actually wrote one thing you, you of all people know Matt, and he's talking to Matt Bowers. Now, Matt Bowers is a owned car dealerships and he is a big old miss booster. So Matt Bowers posted, I'm gonna guess if people travel to Oxford looking for trouble, they will find it, and Lane Kiffin wrote back, one thing you of all people know Matt is LSU fans aren't ever going to lose a fight to old miss fans ever, hashtag fa f.
47 Lane Kiffen is a hero without a cape. Well you know, what do you think about this? I mean it's assault. He knocked the doo flight out. Well, but you can't shot, can you. I mean, okay, let me put on my professional cap and let me get into the seat of the you know, authoritarian. And I'll say that is frowned upon. If you cannot control your emotions at a sporting event, blah blah blah. But the but the freaking LSU fan in me is like, oh, because don't throw shit at me, don't throw at me. Well, and that's right, And that's the way I actually feel about it is. On one hand, it is, Look, you're fifty two years old. We need it, we need to grow up a little bit.
30 And why was it going to esport it out too? But if I'm in the stands and you throw a freaking beer on me, I'm knocking your ass out. You heard it here first, I'm I'm telling you. I'm not telling you I'm against it, but I am. I do, I do get it. I would just be willing to take the charge. Yeah, you know what I did it. I understand this assault. I'm gonna take that charge because you ain't gonna. But to me, he assaulted first by throwing the beer that is technically as salt. Yeah, but if he hit the wrong person, that's the problem. That's the problem. Yea. And they're saying that the guy that he hit was not the guy that threw the don't. I don't know what to tell you, but. I didn't like I didn't zoom in on that. I didn't know that. But you know, here's the thing too, obviously, come on, you're not supposed to fight, Okay, we got that whatever, let's move on.
15 Let's talk rivalry, let's talk sports. But he's being escorted out, which I'm curious why he was being escorted out. So I don't know if there was miss bad. Well, he was being escorted out by his wife. Yeah, but she seemed mad in the video, so I don't know. If something because everybody was clowning him the game, is that? But is that what started it? Why he was being escorted out? Had he met? Yeah? He was. I mean, you're sitting there, you're a Nailshie fan, You're in someone else's house, You're surrounded by old miss fans, and they're basically talking noise to you. And so his wife's like, screw y'all, let's go, and she's he's, I guess, wanting to talk back. Yeah, you know, his wife's pulling him away and saying, no, we need to get out of here before it gets crazy. And some jackass decides he's going to toss a beer on it.
00 Yeah, and it wasn't. I don't blame them for punching the gob back. I don't encourage it, but I get it. I sure I'd pay five cents or yah, it cost them. A little more than that. But in the end, but I'm sorry. Now going to go to Ponchatoula where Tangibaho, a pair of Sheriff's Office deputies arrested nineteen people and confiscated twelve guns over a three day Pontchatola Strawberry Festival time frame. Official said Monday. The arrests, which included two juveniles, took place as part of an aggressive multi agency security operation at Memorial Park. Authorities also seized an unspecified amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia. The majority of those arrested were under the age of twenty five, and they now face at least one count of illegal carrying of a firearm.
48 Several individuals were hit with additional charges, including resisting arrest and drug possession. One person had an outstanding warrant and another had a prior criminal history. Sheriff Grady's sticker praise the proactive enforcement efforts, which included random bag checks, a larger than usual deputy presence, surveillance cameras, and drones. Multiple agencies assisted in this, including the Louisiana State Police and neighboring sheriff's offices. The rules for festivals attendance has never changed, but this year those rules, including no weapons, were widely publicized. There is no need for anyone to have weapons or illegal drugs at a family event like the Strawberry Festival, but Louisiana laws make it clear neither are allowed in that environment. Regardless, organizers and law enforcement ramped up measures after a fatal shooting at a twenty twenty five festival and recent threats circulated online. Four individuals, including a nineteen year old who posted a viral TikTok referencing gun violence, were banned from this year's event. Attendance was estimated between two hundred and fifty to two hundred and seventy five thousand people, lower than the projected three hundred thousand by state police, but festivalgoers still enjoyed parades, rides, food vendors, and live music in a noticeably calmer atmosphere. Festival chairman Ruben Otter said the visible police presence has helped maintain the event's family friendly vibe. We want everyone to feel safe and have a fun family atmosphere. No shootings occurred on the festival grounds themselves, however, Pontchitoula police responded to a separate shooting less than a mile away at Tasker
19 Park on Sunday evening, and this left two people with non life threatening leg wounds. Sticker called the weekends operation a success and said organizers plan to use the same security playbook for the twenty twenty seven festival. The fifty fourth annual Pontchitoola Strawberry Festival wrapped up Sunday after drawing crowds from across the Southeast and southeast Louisiana at least and beyond for its signature strawberries, crafts, carnival rides, and community spirit. And actually I would say across the southeast because there were a lot of people from out of state there all those sort of things, so that attracts people from other states as well as Louisiana. Strawberry Face will have been around a long time, twenty five plus years. Yeah, and you know, the crowd was thinner this year, and I totally get it because people are getting nervous about going to these big events where there's going to be a lot of people these days, and that's sad. That sucks.
16 But a great job by the police to get the guns out of there that they did locate, and you know, it's interesting and why I shouldn't be in the comments ever on social media because there's so many people out there that are just so uneducated on gun law. In Louisiana, you have a right to conceal carry freely. There's no permit required anymore in the state of Louisiana. But that does not include things like schools, churches, or festivals, and especially when they have signs all over the outside of the festival saying you cannot carry a gun in here. So many people in the comments, well I was legal in Louisiana. You can get you can't. You can't carry in a festival, you can't carry in a bar, you can't carry on in the church. Yeah, those sort of things.
08 A concealed carry permit will allow you to carry certain places that you normally couldn't carry, but this festival will not include that. Even with a concealed carry permit, you can't carry where they're telling you not too specifically, and this was one of those places. And it's to this exact point. All of these knuckleheads are a majority of them are under the age of twenty five, and the reality is that you know, there's I hate saying the word gang because that sounds you know, it's not like the bloods and the crips, but like there's gang activity of these young people. They make these threats online. I watched the video of the guy dancing and doing the gun stuff like that, and you know, it's sad because we are in a state where festivals and parades that's our culture, and there's people that are gonna shut this the fun out of it because they can't stop shooting each other or threatening to shot each other. Y'all take that nonsense elsewhere.
03 You know, it doesn't belong there where there's kids. And the Strawberry Festival is so much fun. You know, it's the best time of year, big strawberries, big crawfish, and we should be able to go have fun without these idiots running around wanting to shoot everybody. Right, I agree, And so I'm glad they got a hold of that this year. And you know, there was a major shooting at the Pontchatula Festival last year, and that I also I think contributed to the lack of normal crowd like they normally have. It was still busy, but it wasn't like years past what they were estimating, And I think that the tragic shooting that they had last year contributed that. Yeah. I mean, we used to go to down in downtown Baton Rouge.
45 They always have the huge fireworks on the levee and you wouldn't catch me there for all the tea in China, Like, I'm not going to bring my family down there because of the shootings and all the things that happened. And that's sad because you know, those could be really wonderful family events. They're free, and then people destroy it. Yep. I agree. All right, Let's go to Paul's Valley, Oklahoma, and I'm gonna give you the story that I teased you with and told you I already gave it to you, and that is a principle that was an absolute hero tackled a gunman. I posted that surveillance video on the Facebook page, but I'm gonna tell you exactly what occurred. Surveillance video this week captured the dramatic moment that Paul's Valley High School principal Curtin Moore charged an armed former student inside that school lobby, tackled him to the ground, and stopped what authority say was a planned Columbine inspired mass shooting. The incident occurred on April seventh, twenty twenty six, when a twenty year old by the name of Victor Lee Hawkins entered the school through a lock door that someone had opened for him. Armed with at least one handgun, Hawkins walked into the lobby, pointed the weapon at two students, and attempted to fire. Court documents indicate the gun jammed. Initially, More, a longtime educator, for his dedication to students, did not educate.
09 He sprinted across the lobby, slammed into Hawkins, wrestled him into a bench against a wall, and during the struggle, Hawkins fired again, striking More in the lower right leg. Undeterred, Moore continued to pin the suspect down as another staff member arrived and kicked the gun away. More and at least one assistant principal held Hawkins until law enforcement arrived. No students or other staff were injured. Moore was airlifted to the hospital for treatment of non life threatening wounds, and he was released a few days later and has since returned home to recover. Now. Hawkins was a former Paul's Valley student, and he told investigators he intended to carry out a mass shooting modeled after the nineteen ninety nine Column attack, targeting students, faculty, and than himself. He faces charges including shitting with the intent to kill, two counts of pointing a firearm, two counts of unlawful carrie, and he's held on a million dollar bond. Community members who knew More described him as the type of principal who would take a bullet for his students. Former students and lifelong friends praise this guy about his selflessness. School officials and law enforcement, of course, credit his quick action with likely saving multiple lives, and as More continues to recover, the small Oklahoma town is riling around the principle. The man is now a statewide hero, although he would be the last to call himself that. But if you saw
43 the video, you know there's the famous three f's fight, flight, and freeze, and he's a fight. He's definitely someone that kicked into gear. When he heads And I mean this in no disrespect whatsoever, but he doesn't look like somebody that would be a fighter. And the principal and the fact that he does charge the way he does to me was absolutely incredible. The selflessness, because you know, I don't know that that was a fair match, like age wise and stuff like that. For how hard he went in. And something that's very poignant about this when he said he was, you know, modeling it after Columbine and all of that.
23 I was thinking about the shooters. And there's this. Statistic out there, and you can look, there's multiple things on this, but upwards of fifty percent of school shootings that occur are done by former students Parkland, even former student. So when he comes in to that school, he doesn't have kids there, he doesn't have you know, you know. Why was he there? Did they even? You know? So that's something that I think we as a whole need to look at for sure. But what this is hero stuff right here, But he didn't that principle, didn't set out to be a hero. He set out to save lives and he did just that. Yeah, sixty year old guy and love it.
07 What do you think since he stopped the shooting, I'm just curious, what do you think the penalty for a stopped potential mass shooting should look like? Because obviously he came prepped for that. You know what I'm saying, I. Think you minimum should spend the rest of your life in jail. I mean, that's the potential. Just because it was stopped doesn't mean the potential for what could have been isn't there. And I think that's gonna be. Look, they don't play with mass shootings or attempted mass shootings for that matter. And this that boy ain't never getting out of jail. That's my thoughts. I hope he spends a solid amount of time.
47 Know, a whole lot of mass shooting attempts where somebody didn't spend the rest of their life in jail. That's any shot somebody, So that's attempted murder, that's attempts his second degree murder, that's automatic life. Yeah. Yeah, he's going to jail for the rest of his life. I hope. I guess what I'm trying to say is sometimes we go whoo, you know, nothing major, major, major, that could have been happened. But to me, the potential is what's the scary part? You know that that could all shoot them? Oh? Absolutely, But I'm saying I hope they don't minimize and go, oh, well, he didn't go shoot up to school. No, I mean, thank god. I think And that's one thing in this hyper political world that we live in now. I think that's something everybody can all agree yeah, and then typically do when it involves kids, it involves a school and someone going in there with a gun, nobody plays yeah, good and that's a good thing.
37 Good. Let's agree on that, everybody, All right, let's go to Woodstock, Georgia. David Landsman, the boyfriend of former Chrisly Knows Best star Lindsay Chrisley, was arrested April tenth of twenty six on felony aggravated assault by strangulation and misdemeanor battery charges following a domestic disturbance at the couple's home now. Landsman, who is fifty two, was booked into the Cherokee County Jail around four thirty am after Woodstock police responded to a nine to one one call that he placed himself. According to the incident report, The arrest warrant affidavit says, in an argument irrupted when Lindsay Chrisly confronted him about a lie and then attempted to leave, Landsman allegedly quote went berserk, grabbed her by the neck with one hand, lifted her off the ground, and strangled her until she nearly passed out, telling her that she was not quote going anywhere end quote. Officers observed visible red marks and bruising on her neck. Landsman told police that Chrisly had punched him in the face, causing the bleeding scene. In his mugshot, You Go girl. She reportedly told investigators she struck him in self defense during the assault. He was released later that day after posting approximately a six thousand dollars bond. Chrisly has since filed for a restraining order.
53 Lindsay Chrisly, thirty six, is the oldest daughter of reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisly. She appeared on christ Knows Best for several seasons before leaving the show in twenty twenty one amid a family rift. She now hosts hosts the popular podcast Coffee Convos with Lindsay Christley. Have you ever heard of that? Yeah? You have? I hadn't heard of it. And has largely kept her personal life private in recent years. She and Landsman had been dating publicly for months, frequently sharing photos together on social media and sparking engagement rumors as recently as last week. This is the first public legal issue involving the couple. Landsman, who is a real estate agent, has not commented publicly on the arrest.
36 Horrible situation. And any man that puts his hands on a woman ain't a man in my book. And you know, if you look at his at his mud shot, which if you're watching this on the Patreon you see it, he got at a little pop. She got into it. She got even a little shiner, I guess she could say. And good for her for doing that. That being said, do you watch Chrislies? Did you watch that? No? I wasn't into that. I mean, I know who watched the dad is Yeah, I was confused that he was the dad because he struck me not as like a father type guy, but seems to be a nice fella. And uh, it just didn't appeal to me. It wasn't something I was interested in. Yeah.
16 I thought it was a somewhat entertaining the first season and maybe a little bit of a second, but I quit watch. I think I know more about the wife going I mean about them going to jail. Yeah, about the show, yeah, I got a little pardon. Yeah yeah again, I mean they just seem like whatever, but you know, this goes to show doesn't matter who you are doesn't matter, famous or not. Problems happened behind closed doors. But when you start putting your hands on each other, that ain't good. Yeah, and I guess they're breaking up. So for anybody out there, that single Lindsey Chrysly is available. What's the song? Tell age bracket, tell me no lies and keep your hands to yourself? Right, that would have been a good song for them to be playing them.
58 All right, let's go to middle in Texas and look, it's been a long time since I've heard the name Baby Jessica, but she's back in the news again. Jessica McClure Morales. She actually captivated the nation back in the day as Baby Jessica when she was rescued from a well way back in nineteen eighty seven. Y'all, nineteen eighty seven, I was eleven years old. I was three, and you remember that? How do I remember it? I don't know, but she said you were remember I do. I remember it being on TV and I remember, sure you. Didn't fall in Well I might have. It might have been you those in the West. I very vividly remember what. Maybe I watched something with my mom when I was a kid.
39 Like a special or something that came on years later. Yeah, that's probably because I remember her getting pulled out. I remember the whole thing. Well, I was eleven years old. I remember it was all over the news and they actually had a camera set up in front of the well for twelve hours. Yeah, while they're getting and it was an absolutely miraculous thing that she was rescued, not pulling in. Kid down the world to get her. Is that that rescue er A note? I think they sent a short person. Okay, I don't know what the proper terminology is for that these days, but a vertically challenged person went down there, if I recall, and was able to get her. Know what we have the internet. See. I could be wrong on that, but anyway, she was.
24 She's in the news again. She's forty years old now and she was taken into custody by Middland, Texas Sheriff's Office deputies at a residence and she faces a charge of assault causing bodily injury involving family violence. Arrest showed that Morales was booked at the scene and later released from the detention center after posting bond. There's not a whole lot of details about this arrest sounds to me like a christly situation that we just covered morales. Of course, as I said, she became a household name. On October fourteenth, nineteen eighty seven. She was just eighteen months yell old, y'all when she fell twenty two feet into an eight inch wide abandoned water well at her aunt's home in Midland, Texas.
11 Rescue crews worked nearly fifty eight hours in a nationally televised operation to free her. She suffered serious injuries, including permanent scoring and the loss of a two, but survived what many called a miracle, and it absolutely was a sheer miracle. In the decades since, she has largely stayed out of the public eye. She married Daniel Morales in two thousand and six. They have two children. The family resides in the Midland, Texas area, and this marks her first public legal matter, if you will, as an adult. But it sounds like some sort of domestic vile. She may have whooped up on her husband or something. But that's just me because they're not releasing much information on it other than it's an assault charge and it's a domestic matter.
58 Well, I have multiple things here. First of all, it was not. It was a regular paramedic that is rescued credit died with pulling her out. So we must be tapping into other stories that we're thinking about. But you said an eight yeah, I don't I thought it was. It might have been a short paramedic. You say, paramedic can be short. I'm not saying that at all. Shout out to all the short pairs out paramedics out there. But he doesn't look short. I'm looking at his picture. But anyway, you said that it was an eight inch. Well, that's a guy. They passed her down, so that okay, that might be someone else. Hey, if you rescued baby Jessica, we want to know how tall you are. But you said an eight inch wide. Well, and so I'm looking at a piece of paper that's eight and a half by eleven. That's that is so tight, you know what I'm saying? Look how small That smaller than a piece of paper and she goes in it. That that's a miracle. All right, Let's move on to Omaha, Omaha, Nebraska. A horrifying attempted kidnapping at a Walmart in Omaha ended in a deadly police shooting Tuesday, morning, when a woman allegedly stole a large kitchen knife, seized a three year old boy knife point from his caretaker, and slashed the toddler across the face after refusing officer's commands to drop the weapon. The suspect was identified by Omaha police as thirty one year old Noimi Guzman. According to authorities, the incident began inside the Walmart store near seventy second in Pine Streets around nine to twenty am on April to fourteenth, when Guzman shop lifted a large kitchen knife, approached a female caretaker pushing a shopping cart
28 with a three year old boy inside, brandished the weapon and took control of the child. Surveillance video captured Guzman forcing the caretaker to walk ahead while she pushed the cart and directed them out of the store into the parking lot. A nine to one one call prompted a rapid police response. Officers confronted Guzman near the southern entrance of the parking lot and immediately gave her multiple verbal commands to drop the knife. Body worn camera footage released by police shows the tent standoff. Instead of complying, Guzman began swiping the knife at the boy cutting him across, lost the face and hand in what Deputy Chief Scott Gray described as a rather large laceration. At that moment, at least two officers opened fire, striking and killing Guzman.
11 She was pronounced dead at the scene. A bystander and the child's caretaker quickly pulled the injured boy from the cart and began rendering aid. Officers also attempted life savings measures on Goozman, but she could not be revived. The boy, identified by family as and I think is this Kyler cy Ler. It's just a different spelling, so I'm gonna say Kyler Hillman was rushed to rush to Children's Hospital and Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. He is expected to make a full recovery, and his family described the little boy as their little cowboy, and they said he's already showing signs of resilience. He's out of. Surgery and doing much better or doing better than expected.
53 Guzman had a documented history of mental health issues. In twenty twenty four, she was found not guilty by reason of insanity in a separate case involving the stabbing of her father and breaking into a church. This is all, according to court records. Police have said that there is no known connection between Gouzman and the victim's family. This is a huge cut, by the way. I mean, it starts at his cheekbone and goes way past the top of his ear towards the back of his head. Yeah, it was a huge knife, y'all. And again, if you're on the pageron you can see the knife as she's brandishing it, because I included the screenshots of that. But this is something like you would see in the Halloween movies, the big giant carving knife. Yeah, big for like turkey and stuff.
40 Why is she? Why is she? What are we doing that people like this are not? She should be in a facility. And I don't know what the answer is for this, but that baby could have lost very very well lost his life that day. And the mental health problem that we have in this country is something that I cannot seem to grasp. Why we're not doing more. I was telling Jim, and I know people might not agree with this, but we send money hand over fist to tons of projects in this world, and then I see a little boy almost lose his life, and it's like we can't fund better reaction, better planning for people that are at this level of mental instability.
23 Now, No, I don't even know if it's a question of funding. I think it's just a revolving door. They're getting in, they're getting out, they're getting in, they're not keeping them in there. I don't know. If I came in here with that knife and I stabbed you, my ass would go to prison for for arguably the rest of my life. Okay, but because she is mentally ill, she can stab her father. And but because she's mentally ill, for some reason, it's okay. To put that out on the street. If I'm angry enough to stab someone, we probably have a beef and you can under you can. I'm not saying it's right, but you would understand what got me to where I was with anger. This is unprovoked craziness, right, But for some reason, we're gonna let that walk around.
06 I'm more afraid of that. Yeah, I don't. I agree, So I just I'm frustrated because we continue to have cases like this where innocent people pay the price, and then people. Go, oh, well they're crazy. Yeah, and we already knew. That, right. The question is why was she on you know? And a lot of times the medicine becomes an issue and someone doesn't take it anymore. But I mean, if you've done what she already did, I can't wrap my brain around why she was out to do it again. Yes, you know, an doesn't make sense to me. I don't want to belabor it, but it just makes my wheels start turning that maybe we need a complete and total change in how we approach this.
47 You know, we have probation and parole officers. Right because we recognize that people who come out of prison that we should probably supervise them for X amount of time to make sure that they're doing what they're supposed to be doing well. You know, I know we have social work and things like that, But when someone. Meets this level of unprovoked dangerousness within a society, why do we depend on those people to seek help for themselves? And why don't we have oversight for them in some way? And I don't mean government control, but I'm just trying to say, why don't we have programs where we've got or maybe we do and I'm just ignorant to it, but someone of this level should be monitored, and obviously the family is not equipped to be that those people.
32 All right, y'all, we're going to our utterly unrelated segment and we're going to be talking about ice cream today. Ice cream season, of course, ramping up all over the country. Summertimes, kids are out of school, everybody is thinking about ice cream. And look, it's cold in some parts of the country, and people probably don't eat it as often. Although I would eat it any time of the year, it doesn't matter to me. Data shows that Americans are reaching for familiar favorites, but some adventurous flavors are beginning to churn up interest. Vanilla remains the most popular ice cream flavor in the United States. Chocolate, followed by cookies and cream are close behind. That rounds off the top three flavors nationwide. Now, while the top picks may appear kind of predictable, everybody, I'm sure would throw chocolate in there. Vanilla surprised me being number one, but whatever, They're just the tip of the iceberg. Studies are showing more people are willing to expand their taste and branch out on flavors. Get this.
37 Orders for green tea flavored ice cream don't sound good to me, but that increased by twenty four percent year over year, while Pistachio raised twenty five percent and Pineapple Coconut jumped thirty seven percent. Now major names like Hogging Dies, Ben's and Jerries, and Tillamook, which I have not heard of till continue to rank among the fastest growing ice cream brands in the country. Smaller companies offering better for you options are also gaining tractions. Better brands like Halo Top and Arctic Zebra are now all low calorie, reduced sugar ice cream options, and Greek yogurts are actually becoming something that's selling very well. Ice Cream cells actually dip slightly in twenty twenty five, while lighter alternatives saw a twenty nine percent jump. Sherbet and sorbet products also posted gains, and researchers also found social media platforms are helped fuelling demand for inventive ice cream flavors, particularly among younger customers and especially with that TikTok factor playing in nowadays. And if you're curious how much ice cream Americans actually consume.
57 In twenty twenty five, the industry generated roughly seven point five billion dollars in sales. Dad Gum, I don't I eat, uh the reeses. I like that flavor. Yeah, it's good because some of the flavors out there. Yeah, we have that in comment. Yeah, I love it, some of. The flavors out there. I'm like, I don't understand what's happened here. Like I would never grab green tea ice cream. Never, I wouldn't. That sounds counterproduction. You really need some energy to get a green tea ice cream to me. Now, there's guarantee some people out there gonna be like, oh, try it, you'll love it. We'll get hit. But pistachio, yeah what Yeah, you. Want your ice cream? It tastes like a nut? Is that what it's?
39 Yeah, I'm not into it, although I will say, uh, pecans pecana ice cream is pretty good. Oh. You know what else people who don't need to sleep on is locally, we have a place, a sushi restaurant, and they they have red bean ice cream. And I thought that sounded absolutely disgusting, like red beans and rice like red beans. Yeah, okay, sounds disgusting. But then I ordered it one day because I was like, what I don't understand, and the girls like just try it, and y'all, I. Actually fell in love with it. How about pineapple coconut? Absolutely not I like to go I don't. I agree. I wouldn't try any of those, but curious how many of y'all would. What's y'all's favorite ice cream?
19 Let us know your. Taste buds change over time too, so you know, yeah, maybe that's a certain age group or something likes different flavors. Who knows. There you go, All right, let's go to Ohio, where a twenty two year old volunteer firefighter faces aggravated murder and aggravated arson charges after authorities say he fatally shot a woman he called his quote unquote second mother, poured gasoline on her body, and then set her rural home ablaze to cover up the crime, and then arrived back at the scene as one of the first responders to help extinguish the fire. He is now accused of starting. Peyton Beam of Ansnia was arrested April twelfth. Prosecutors told the judge that Beam executed fifty year old Erica Kramer, a beloved head varsity cheer coach at a high school, by shooting her twice in the back and twice in the head inside her home on April tenth, After the shooting, Beam allegedly doused Kramer's body with gasoline and ignited the fire before leaving the property. Minutes later, the volunteer fire department, where Beam served with, was dispatched to the burning home.
23 Beam was among the first firefighters on scene. Responding. The Dark County Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set. Beam had worked for Kramer doing farm and yard work since he was a teenager, a relationship that spanned nearly a decade. His defense attorney said that he considered Kramer a second mom and would never hurt someone he'd work for or he'd worked with for the last seven years. The attorney added that the defense is very interested in ballistics in this case and any evidence beyond inference. Beam shook his head during the bond hearing as the allegations were detailed. The judge set his bond at five million dollars cash or surety, meaning he would need to post five hundred thousand dollars to be released while awaiting trial. He remains held in the Dark County Jail as of this recording.
14 Yeah, and another horrific one man we're covering some tough stuff today. Yeah, I'm actually doing my episode that'll drop next week is going to be something kind of similar to this. It's actually a common thing. I was talking to a former student of mine who's now a supervisor firefighter, and he said that at their trainings, specifically at his level, they look at you know, it's fire investigation and arson, and he said that a majority of the arson type stuff that they learn about is to cover up crime. Yeah, and him coming back on the scene, of course, just adds more macabre to that story. But you know, when you get back to the scene, I'm sure he was trying to see what he forgot to do or if any bloody was on to him, you know, to him, it's gonna lend a little more confidence and maybe he can get away with it. But man, you know you're gonna kill someone. You look at it as a second mother.
11 Yeah, there's got There's obviously gotta be more to this. I don't know what what spawned this, but. You know, he thought he could gain something. I don't know what it is, but I guess we'll find out once it's taken to trial. Right, you know what I just thought about, Jim, I have to tell you this. Do you know this is a fun fact. Do you know that there's actually a celebrity that was sliced in the face by a stranger, a very famous one, and the scar on the celebrity's face is from that. And just thought about that. So the story like the little boy that's got that scar, this celebrity has the same one. Do you know who it is? I have none. Ea, it's Tina Fay on Saturday Night Live. The same thing happened to her when she was a child.
54 Oh when when she was shopping with her mom. I don't know. It just popped in my head and I was like, wow, I I forgot about that. But it's not crazy. I mean, it happens, and there's you know anyway, I learned that story recently. That's why I'm sharing it. All Right, let's go to Tallahassee and we're going into the true crime time machine. Do b Do Do doo be doo. And when we jump into the true crime time machine for today, we're going to go all the way back to just last year actually April seventeenth, twenty twenty five. Horrific story I'm bringing your way. A gunman killed two and injured six on the campus of Florida State University. The suspect, a twenty year old Florida State University political science major by the name of Phoenix Eichner, was shot in the jaw by responding police officers and taken into custody.
45 He was hospitalized for weeks with facial injuries requiring reconstructive surgery before being booked into jail. Aichner was the step son of a Leon County Sheriff's Office deputy, and he allegedly used a handgun that it belonged to his stepmother as as her former service weapon, so he used that in the shooting. Authority said he began shooting around eleven fifty seven am in the area around the student union, chasing people and firing at random individuals. Now The victims killed were identified as fifty seven year old Robert Morales, a longtime Florida State University dining service coordinator and former assistant football coach at leonn High School, as well as forty five year old tyru Chaba, a regional vice president for Airmac Collegiate Hospitality who was just visiting campus from Greenville, South Carolina for work. Both men were obviously non students.
45 Six others, primarily students, were injured by gunfire, and all the surviving victims were treated and released from area hospitals. One graduate student was shot while actually fleeing the scene, so Florida State Police the University police responded within minutes. Body warn camera, surveillance video and nine on one calls were released, capturing the chaos and the swift actions that ended the rampage. A grand jury actually indicted Eiitner in May of twenty twenty five on the two counts of first degree murder and seven counts of attempt at first green murder. Prosecutors filed their notice of intent to seek the death penalty in Jane of twenty twenty five. And get this, Shaw, we are now in the one year exactly anniversary of this, of course with the True Crime time machine, and as of today, the case is still in the pre trial phase. All right.
40 Well, so in this instance, I do think that the death penalty is completely warranted. Obviously his actions clearly fall into into that penalty level. And I just really feel bad for these families that you know, it's been a year, there's still no we're not even close to trial. Doesn't seem like it's going to continue to drag out and they're going to have to just relive this at some point. They know it, and I just wish we could get get it soft, quicker, you know, get it resolved in some way so these families can move forward, not move on, but move forward. Yeah. I agree. And you know this is as a parent who has two kids in college and one just graduated.
20 These people don't even know this guy. I'm sure that he was shooting at and just randomly shooting people. Hell, two of the people that he shot weren't even students at the school. They were fifty plus or old men, one forty five, one fifty seven, and he just randomly kills them and then shoots six other people that could have died. Yet he gets reconstructive surgery. Yeah. I don't know, man, something just doesn't seem fair with that. Let's do some foolish felons in Florida. Okay, and this is Orlando is a new segment. It's our new segment, Foolish Felons. You don't have a sound you want. To for that? No, so foolish all right?
03 A Central Florida man is being called the cookie Monster bandit after he allegedly lost it Adam McDonald's. When employees wouldn't hand over free cookies. He was pushing workers, jumping behind the counter, throwing items, and stealing extra meals before deputies tracked him down nearby. Jalen Menzie was arrested following the chaotic incident inside the McDonald's near the University of Central Florida campus in Orange County. Now. According to the Sheriff's office, Menzi placed a regular order and paid for his food. When his meal was handed over, he demanded a tote of cookies at no charge. When he was told that he would have to pay for those, Menzi became irate.
44 Deputies say he pushed. Employees out of the way, He went behind the counter, he threw food, He threw drinks and equipment at workers, then fled the restaurant with two additional meals that were not his. A brief search led deputies to a nearby apartment complex, where Mensi was located and taken into custody without further incident. He faces charges of robbery and battery. Now, the bizarre strong arm robbery has quickly gone viral on local news and social media, with many dubbing the suspect the Cookie Monster bandit for his cookie fueled meltdown. No one was seriously injured in the incident. Menzi remains in custody as the case moves forward, and there's surveillance video from inside the restaurant that is expected to play a key role if the case goes to trial. This marks the latest in a string of foolish felon stories coming out of Florida, where suspects have turned minor disputes into major legal headaches over the smallest of things and in this case, a free dessert.
38 You mentioned a toad of cookies. Mc Donald's has toads of freaking cookies. All I know is they have a basket of fries, because I'll hammer a basket of fries. Yeah. I didn't know about a tot of cookies. Had I known, I'd probably be a lot bigger right now. Yeah, I know. Well, while you were reading it, I actually looked it up, and they do have toads. Of course. I don't know if they offer them in Louisiana or it's just specific places like Florida or something. But thirteen cookies in the tape and he wanted his for freaking free. Why would you get it for free? Dude? He can't just get the mdonald cookie for free. I think he was looking for a fight. He went in there wanting to fight people. Will do some wild shit. Ever cookies, Yeah, and then you go. But I would expect to pay for him.
21 I mean, I mean, yeah, I want some cookies. Foolish felons so foolish? Yeah, all right, Kelly, any final. Thoughts, Well, actually have a question, a final question. Have you done anything that you think would qualify as foolish? Uh not? Maybe a felon, But do you have any things you've done in your past? Oh? Hell yeah, and probably a lot of felon stuff that I get caught for a lot of foolish shit. Yeah. We ain't getting into that, are it'd be on permanent record now, Yeah, exactly. But yes, I could fill up a several podcasts with my dumb ship. Saying my mama might listen to.
04 All right, well, thank you so much for listening. We're gonna go into overtime and just quickly we're gonna be talking about a Florida doctor who removed the wrong baby body part rather not baby port, wrong body part. Florida hoa bookkeeper embezzled nearly a quarter of a million dollars to get plastic surgery and some her hair dead, things of that nature. We're gonna be talking about that. And Brian Hooker is in all over the news. This is the guy who went on a sailing trip with his wife in the Bahamas. She has disappeared. He has not been charged in that case.
