Listener Reviews

Meh
I used to listen to Marc regularly during my work shifts, his podcast during those years used to get some great guests. Jerry Lewis. Harry Dean Stanton. Norm MacDonald. All dead at this point. Tuned in for a recent episode with Taylor Tomlinson and couldn't jive with the tension I felt between the two (owing to Taylor’s success at a young age, and her coming up performing in churches, working clean vs dirty etc). Marc is cool at his core but he’s settling too comfortably into the bitter old man he was working so hard not to become. Marc is becoming comedy’s equivalent to the snobby record store clerk gatekeeper who thinks they get to decide what’s good and what isn’t. It was clear that Marc doesn’t think much of this fantastic young comic because she isn’t some LA nepo-baby with family in the biz who endured abuse at the Comedy Store or had a coke problem that morphed into some pseudo-intellectual podcast. Cmon Marc. Love ya buddy but the world is more than just Sunset Blvd and “the way things used to be”.
Mr Big
Marc Rules! One of my favorite podcasts and he ends his interviews jamming on his guitar!
Connie Chung
What a delightful interview
Thanks for the pep talk
How did you put it? The mental stuff in our heads makes us more interesting than 90% of the people? I work hard on it—maybe I’m only more interesting than 80% now. Good talk and I’m enjoying the interview with Connie Chung.
Episode 1576 - airport!
I am exactly the same way at airports with late/rebooked flights! Thank you Marc for putting it into words so well…I’m sick of me also !!!
Thanks
Mister Maron, thanks for so many years of hosting a great show and making me laugh. Your comedy and books and podcast have gotten me through some real hard times. Sincerely, Cody Taylor.

Always a great listen. Might take a few months off if Kamala doesn’t win. I hate hearing grown men cry.
Moon Zappa
She’s fascinating. I loved the interview it could have gone on for much longer. She’s a deeply interesting person.
Marc “yeah, yeah, yeah”
Couldn’t listen to the Chris Robinson chat. It’s typical Marc going “yeah yeah yeah” talking all over his guest who is actually more interesting than Marc. Hey Marc, try being quiet for 10 seconds!
Did Moon Zappa
Ever get to talk about her book? I know she tried to a few times. I gave up.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah”
And interruption. Let them speak!
Shut up and quit talking about yourself!!
Never thought I’d see someone more narcissistic than Trump, but Maron is it. Jeez, what a terrible interviewer. Ask the guest a good question then LET THEM TALK and stop pulling the conversation back to yourself. I have subscribed to this podcast for years, but the deterioration is accelerating. I can’t take it anymore. Bye, bye Marc the Uber-Narcissist.
Honest to a fault…
Sometimes I wonder how can someone be so open? I think most people can benefit by learning to be open and caring.
Great with a little ageism
I love this podcast, and I know he doesn’t mean to be less than respectful when referring to older guests or discussing an older person. Marc will say or ask if a person is “lucid” as if it’s an amazing and wonderful thing that an older person continues to be lucid. He uses the word in that context on many occasions. The word clearly has an obvious negative connotation and saying someone is still lucid doesn’t make it positive. Unfortunately (and unintentionally on Marc’s part), it reinforces the negative stereotypes and ageist attitudes that older people face daily. That said, I love this podcast and recommend it highly!
Jimmie Dale Gilmore
Love listening to people like this who’ve thought deeply about their art and the human condition. Thank you both.
The Greats
The greats never get old.
Played out
Pod is tired. And has guests now that no one cares about. Get better guests.
Bob Newhart Interview(s)
The Bob Newhart episode was amazing. He was so unique and you did a great job. What a thrill it must have been to make him laugh and to laugh with him! Thank you
Trey!
I had no idea Trey was in the program, this was my favorite episode ever! Thinking about the NYU noon meetings with a smile and so much gratitude!
Entertaining
I could seriously listen to Marc talk for an hour about anything! I love his honesty. I can relate to his insecurities. Interesting interviews which feel more like a casual conversation. I found his comedy through this podcast and enjoy his stand up specials.
Trey Episode
Trey episode brought me hear but it was such a great conversation, Ill be sticking around!
Tre EP
The tre ep was a return to classic mark. Tre could barley get a word in edgewise mark. Mark, compelled to drive home how little he knows or cares about the guest. He must impress upon them how rooted in legitimacy his lack of awareness is. And the whole time a good natured Tre is just pleasant and easygoing.Of course it’s impossible for mark to just say “ for most of my life my tastes were dictated by what is cool, and you and DMB were not/are lot cool”But I do love and respect mark.
