I used to listen to Marc regularly during my work shifts, his podcast during those years used to get some great guests. Jerry Lewis. Harry Dean Stanton. Norm MacDonald. All dead at this point. Tuned in for a recent episode with Taylor Tomlinson and couldn't jive with the tension I felt between the two (owing to Taylor’s success at a young age, and her coming up performing in churches, working clean vs dirty etc). Marc is cool at his core but he’s settling too comfortably into the bitter old man he was working so hard not to become. Marc is becoming comedy’s equivalent to the snobby record store clerk gatekeeper who thinks they get to decide what’s good and what isn’t. It was clear that Marc doesn’t think much of this fantastic young comic because she isn’t some LA nepo-baby with family in the biz who endured abuse at the Comedy Store or had a coke problem that morphed into some pseudo-intellectual podcast. Cmon Marc. Love ya buddy but the world is more than just Sunset Blvd and “the way things used to be”.
