What happens when life demands everything you have and still asks for more? In this episode of Doing Business With a Servant’s Heart host Steve Ramona welcomes producer, storyteller and survivor Jonathan Bogner to explore what it means to live with purpose amid unbelievable adversity. At age 45, after selling his movie at Sundance, Jonathan suffered two massive strokes, heart failure and aphasia. Doctors told him he needed a new heart. Jonathan said no to defeat, chose life, and pushed forward with tenacity few can imagine. He survived, he reinvented himself as a producer of film and television projects with studios attached and later reality shows featuring his own son. His heart journey continued with an implanted defibrillator that shocked his heart back to life eight times and eventually led to a successful transplant. Jonathan’s story is both raw and inspiring. You will hear how he learned deep empathy, the value of connection, and the truth that optimism is a muscle you work every day. In this candid conversation Jonathan shares lessons about producing film and television reality, explains the roles of producer versus executive producer, and reveals why listening deeply to others became one of his greatest gifts after illness. He talks legacy, purpose and what the next chapter holds for him as a podcaster, writer and storyteller. If you are facing challenges, this episode will help you consider what it means to fight for life, cultivate empathy and pay your story forward to help others. P.S. Go back and listen again because there are moments worth hearing twice and share this episode with someone who needs hope today.
