09: What I wish I knew about paying for college

09: What I wish I knew about paying for college

Today, we look at the advice I wish my 35 year old self could have given to my 18 year old self. Here is a quick run down of the topics we cover.

What is a Subsidized loan?

What is an Unsubsidized loan?

Here are the top 5 things I wish I had known.

  1. You don’t have to take all the money they offer you.
  2. Pay the interest during school.
  3. Apply for scholarships every year.
  4. You don’t have to graduate in 4 years. Work, save, and pay for classes as you go.
  5. Talk to a financial advisor.

I know there are a lot of people that are in the same boat (or worse) than me. I feel like it’s part of my responsibility to help educate the next generation so they don’t fall into the same traps. I am researching for future episodes more about ways to fund college. I would love to know what questions you have about it. Please send me an email (heather@thepolkadotdesk.com) or a DM on Instagram so I can tailor the show to all of you.

Hit me up on social media and join in on the conversation.

Let's get ready to connect the dots!

XO, Heather
