Carolina Catholic Media

Proclaiming the faith in a digital age
with Local Evangelization built to put the

TRUTH of JESUS CHRIST
back into the secular and contrary messages of our world.

Bishop Jugis’ announcement of the “new pastoral priorities for the diocese” coincides with our announcement regarding the future of Charlotte’s first Catholic Radio Station AM1270 WCGC.  In reading through Bishop Jugis’ list, I was taken with the fifth priority which is in alignment with our work and the intention of our core initiatives at Carolina Catholic Media …

“Fifth, we must learn to proclaim the faith in a digital age, that we may better evangelize a culture teeming with secular and contrary messages.”

At the Charlotte Knights Baseball game last September, Monsignor Winslow stated how “Carolina Catholic Media was bringing the diocese closer together.”  That has been done without the synergy of our 92+ parishes.  Imagine what will happen when as Bishop Jugis has stated “we must learn to proclaim the faith in a digital age, that we may better evangelize a culture teeming with secular and contrary messages.”  The Carolina Catholic Media apostolate IS perfectly positioned to facilitate bringing all our parishes closer together.  This was a primary objective of CCRN when we established our non-profit in the Spring of 2017.

As you look at our progress these past 50 months and what we are planning for you in the months ahead, please keep in mind that the vast majority of this work is done by our largely volunteer staff.  Despite this cost savings we have come to a fork in the road where we can no longer operate Charlotte’s 1st Catholic Radio Station without your immediate financial support.

We currently need $16,000 to stay solvent through June 30.  As a result, we are working on contingency plans which include shutting the radio station off or selling it while continuing to operate our Mobile App, Website, YouTube Channel, Podcast Channel and eNewsletter digital platforms.  It is with all of this in mind that I am announcing the most important pledge drive in our history.

ROOM AT THE INN - We are most grateful to these fine young people from Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School who came to help out yesterday. We had a bit of a miscommunication about what they would be working on (my fault) and so they wore their nice clean uniforms, but they managed to do an amazing job of planting and mulching and keeping pretty clean too. It was so nice to have such cheerful, helpful happy teens around. They were a credit to their school and to their parents.
