This Novena for Mental Health is an opportunity for all the People of God to join together in prayer for women and men experiencing or impacted by mental health issues and for all those who accompany them. The Novena can be prayed at any time of year.
The entire Church in the United States is especially encouraged to pray this Novena in solidarity with one another from October 10 to October 18 each year. October 10 is a fitting beginning as it is also World Mental Health Day. It is a time when people around the world are seeking to raise awareness and remove the stigma connected to mental health issues. This nationwide annual moment of prayer fittingly concludes on the feast of Saint Luke, patron of health care, on October 18.
This Novena is offered in solidarity with those suffering from mental health challenges as well as health care professionals, family, and friends who are caring for people in need. We hope that this modest Novena will move all people to discern how God is calling them to offer greater assistance to those with mental health needs.
Each day of the Novena reflects on a theme related to mental health, or a particular population significantly affected by mental health challenges, using a “Pray, Learn, Act” structure. The Novena is not meant to be exhaustive of all of the many aspects of this crisis; rather, we hope it will offer nine initial entry points for people to prayerfully approach the topic. It is our sincere hope that this Novena will inspire more prayer, reflection, and creative action to address these great challenges of our time.
We note that various links to religious and secular mental health resources are included. We encourage all to utilize a variety of resources, always keeping in mind Catholic teaching and recognizing that mental health is a universal human right. Whether this Novena is prayed at the annual time of October 10 to 18, or at any other time of year of your choosing, may you know that we never make this journey alone. Let us always pray with and for one another.

The Story of Jesus’s Visit to St. Faustina
Fr. Chris Alar recounts one of the most extraordinary moments in modern Church history: Jesus’s literal appearance to St. Faustina. This was no dream, no vision, no locution — Christ Himself entered her cell in 1931, clothed in a white garment with red and pale rays streaming from His Heart, just as we see in the Divine Mercy Image today.
At the time, St. Faustina’s convent had no electricity, only oil lamps. Yet when Jesus appeared, the light was so brilliant it poured from beneath her door. Her fellow sisters testified that no lamp could produce such radiance. According to accounts, even two children outside the convent thought an airplane had landed on the roof because of the blinding glow!
This miraculous encounter not only gave the world the Divine Mercy Image, but confirmed the reality of Christ’s mercy and His urgent call for us to trust Him. Through St. Faustina, Jesus revealed the depths of His Heart — a light that shatters the darkness of sin and draws us into His mercy.
Learn more about the powerful mission Christ entrusted to St. Faustina by visiting DivineMercyPlus.org and reading the Diary of St. Faustina at ShopMercy.org.

Outside the walls of the city of Gubbio, in Italy, there was a wolf so fierce that no one dared to leave the city, because it devoured not only animals but also people. So they called Saint Francis of Assisi, who was already famous for talking to animals; he had even prayed to the birds. Saint Francis went alone to face the wolf, and when the wolf was about to attack him, the Saint made the sign of the cross and called the wolf to come closer. A peace offer was made: the inhabitants of the city would give food to the wolf, and the wolf would no longer attack people or animals. While they were talking, the wolf nodded its head. In the end, Saint Francis made the wolf give his paw, and it did. Then, in the end, the wolf went alongside Saint Francis like a little lamb when he went to tell the population about the peace treaty.

In addition to Radio, we have expanded our CAROLINA CATHOLIC media platforms to include Video on our website, mobile app, Facebook/Instagram/X social media and YouTube channel. We provide access to all our platforms through our weekly eNewsletters.
Our streaming technology allows us to access every computer and smartphone allowing us to significantly reduce projected capital expenditures. This overcame the biggest single broadcast objection of “I can’t hear you.” With 90% population reach by Smartphone the broadcast signal is not an issue. With compelling content the ears and eyes will come.
WHERE WE GO FROM HERE…
CAROLINA CATHOLIC MEDIA offers a unique opportunity to reach the entire Local Catholic Community both registered Catholics, those in the pews on Sunday AND the vast flock of those who are not. With 5 million people in the Charlotte Diocese and a Charlotte metro workday population increase of 20% (post pandemic) there is much room to grow with our outreach in the Vineyard of the Carolinas (3 dioceses - 15 million souls - 1.5 million Catholics).
During these tumultuous times where the world feels upside down, may we be guided by GOD’S love, mercy and grace. May we grow in and be strengthened by our Catholic faith to reinvigorate our hope in and our love for GOD and for one another. May we truly be Instruments of His Peace by our actions and by our words… to feed the hungry, cloth the naked, forgive the guilty, welcome the stranger AND the unwanted child, care for the ill and love our enemies.
CAROLINA CATHOLIC MEDIA looks forward to continuing providing you with ONE LOCAL CATHOLIC VOICE that truly reflects the MOSAIC OF MINISTRIES created by you for all our Carolina Catholics. From the CRIB TO THE CROSS, may we always remember the REASON FOR EVERY SEASON! PRAISE BE JESUS CHRIST, NOW AND FOREVER! VIVA CRISTO REY!

Father Kauth asked that some dirt that was moved to make room for the new chapel be added to the small hill located behind the construction site. By raising this hill, Father created a great vantage point from which to survey progress. Our general contractor, Edifice, is doing great, and the project is on time and on budget. You can follow along from the comfort of your home or office by visiting the construction cam HERE
The columns and beams have now been joined for 2/3 of the chapel, and studs are being added in addition to the inner roof.
Please pray for the safety of our construction workers.

We are blessed to have the Daughters of the Virgin Mother here at the seminary and in our diocese. The other day, Whitney Hetzel brought two members of the Sisters of Mary (https://worldvillages.org/), one of whom works in Tanzania and the other in Mexico, to meet with Mother Mary Raphael and the other sisters. It is always extra joyful when sisters visit with sisters. From left to right: Sr. Mary Agatha Rose, Sr. Mary Jacinta, Sr. Marilyn, Mother Mary Raphael, Sr. Margie Cheong, Whitney Hetzel, Christy George, and Sr. Mary Philomena. Please pray for all of our sisters and consider supporting their missions.

Traditionalists push Pope Leo to resurrect the Latin Mass:
The Latin Mass has become toxically politicized and is posing a test for Pope Leo XIV as traditionalists call on him to reverse restrictions imposed by Pope Francis.
