Maximizing Technology in Today’s World

TECHNOLOGY TIMELINE

By using today’s technology, we commit to reach every soul across the Diocese of Charlotte, NC and Upstate SC.  In addition to Radio, we have expanded our CAROLINA CATHOLIC media platforms to include Video on our website, mobile app, Facebook/Instagram/X social media and YouTube channel.  We provide access to all our platforms through our weekly eNewsletters.

Our streaming technology allows us to access every computer and smartphone allowing us to significantly reduce projected capital expenditures.  This overcame the biggest single broadcast objection of “I can’t hear you.”  With 90% population reach by Smartphone the broadcast signal is not an issue. With compelling content the ears and eyes will come.

Redefining our Mission & Vision

WHERE WE GO FROM HERE…

CAROLINA CATHOLIC MEDIA offers a unique opportunity to reach the entire Local Catholic Community both registered Catholics, those in the pews on Sunday AND the vast flock of those who are not.   With 5 million people in the Charlotte Diocese and a Charlotte metro workday population increase of 20% (post pandemic) there is much room to grow with our outreach in the Vineyard of the Carolinas (3 dioceses - 15 million souls - 1.5 million Catholics).

During these tumultuous times where the world feels upside down, may we be guided by GOD’S love, mercy and grace.  May we grow in and be strengthened by our Catholic faith to reinvigorate our hope in and our love for GOD and for one another. May we truly be Instruments of His Peace by our actions and by our words… to feed the hungry, cloth the naked, forgive the guilty, welcome the stranger AND the unwanted child, care for the ill and love our enemies.

CAROLINA CATHOLIC MEDIA looks forward to continuing providing you with ONE LOCAL CATHOLIC VOICE that truly reflects the MOSAIC OF MINISTRIES created by you for all our Carolina Catholics.  From the CRIB TO THE CROSS, may we always remember the REASON FOR EVERY SEASON!  PRAISE BE JESUS CHRIST, NOW AND FOREVER!  VIVA CRISTO REY!

I look forward to hearing from you!

In the peace of Christ,

Pope Leo XIV surprises Catholic youth festival with unexpected popemobile salute

Knights of Columbus

More than 4,000 pilgrims from the United States, including several college Knights, flocked to St. Paul’s Outside the Walls, one of Rome’s four major papal basilicas, for the U.S. National Jubilee Pilgrim Gathering on July 30 as part of the Jubilee of Youth being held in Rome July 28-Aug. 3. The event, sponsored by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops with support from the Knights of Columbus, included prayer, catechesis, Eucharistic adoration and a solemn procession of the relics of dozens of saints and blesseds, including Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati and Blessed Carlo Acutis, who will be canonized Sept. 7.

The U.S. gathering was led by Bishop Edward Burns of Dallas and Bishop Robert Barron of Winona-Rochester. Delivering the evening’s keynote address, Bishop Barron emphasized the great adventure that the spiritual life has to offer and invited young people to orient their lives toward discernment and personal mission.

“Don’t ever let [the world] tell you that religious people are kind of dull, stay-at-home types, not all that interesting,” Bishop Barron said. “On the contrary, it seems to me, religion at its best is always a summons to adventure.”

“You don’t know who you are until you find your mission,” he added. “Whom do you worship? What voice do you listen to, and what’s the mission that voice is giving to you? …  [God is] summoning us up out of ourselves to the heights.”

Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School

This week, we were blessed to gather as a school community for the groundbreaking and blessing of our long-awaited athletic enhancements, including six new tennis courts and an outdoor restroom facility.  This milestone is made possible through the generosity of donors to our Spirit of Victory Campaign, whose early gifts provided seed money to launch this project. These enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to fostering excellence in athletics, supporting our student-athletes, and creating a welcoming space for families and visiting teams.  We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have contributed and invite others to join in supporting this effort by making a gift to the Spirit of Victory Campaign:

MiraVia

On this beautiful feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we joyfully celebrate 13 years since the ribbon cutting of MiraVia’s College Residence on July 16, 2012!  What began that special day on the campus of Belmont Abbey College with pro-life leaders and clergy - including Abbot Placid Solari of Belmont Abbey Monastery, the late Bishop William G. Curlin and (now retired) Bishop Peter J. Jugis - has blossomed into a true “Miraculous Way” for student moms to thrive during pregnancy and beyond.  Thanks to our incredibly supportive community, we’ve been able to walk alongside student moms for 13 years offering hope, housing, and life-changing support.

Summertime

Bishop Luis reflects on a surprising cultural difference: the end time of a dinner gathering. Coming from a Latin background where celebrations flow freely, he was puzzled by time limits on fellowship.  Joy, community, and love shouldn’t be constrained by the clock. When we’re surrounded by laughter, good food, and those we love, we get a glimpse of eternity. This summer, let’s slow down, break the schedule, and fully enter into the gift of each moment.

Let his heart pierce yours

Bishop Luis Zarama reflects on the celebration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus during the month of June and Pope Leo’s monthly prayer intention for more compassion in the world. Love and compassion for others begins with love and a willingness to let our own hearts be pierced by the love of Jesus, Bishop Luis explains. He asks us to take time in our daily lives to look for that encounter and to understand that more than ever the world needs more compassion — and it begins within us.
