🖼️ Beyond the Frame: The Cost of Visibility
🎙️ Curator Talk Tuesday | Final Episode
What good is being seen if you’re still not free?
As we close out the Beyond the Frame series, I’m sitting with a hard truth: visibility doesn’t always mean liberation.
Artists like Kehinde Wiley and Rashid Johnson disrupt traditional narratives—placing Black figures in positions of power. But what happens when that visibility is still filtered through misinterpretation, voyeurism, or tokenism?
👁️🗨️ Visibility can uplift. But it can also exhaust.
In this final episode, I explore how Black artists—and we as cultural leaders—can reclaim agency in how we’re seen, portrayed, and remembered.
It’s time to move beyond the frame.
