The sounds of his grandfather's guitar under a clear sky,
the sounds of crickets at night chirping;
recalling how the dirt made circles in the air as trucks drove by while sitting on a porch,
waving to cars because no one is a stranger in New Kent county, Virginia, the legacy in this small town.

That is the foundation upon which my guest in this episode, Dr. Wilmon A. Christian, the 3rd, aka AJ, is building his legacy.

Born and raised in New Kent County, Virginia, Dr. Wilmon is he Founder and Executive Director of Resonance Organizational Consulting and Solutions, LLC. He also serves as the Director of Workplace Equity at the University of Southern California Race and Equity Center.

Our conversation touches on Dr. Wilmon's early life in the seemingly magical town of New Kent County, home of the 1st ever First Lady, Martha C. Washington.

Dr.

Dr. Wilmon A. Christian III is the Founder and Executive Director of Resonance Organizational Consulting and Solutions, LLC. He also serves as the Director of Workplace Equity at the University of Southern California Race and Equity Center.

His career in education has included various roles, spanning areas such as student access and success, project management and administration, and racial diversity initiatives. He is a 2020-2021 recipient of the USC Rossier School of Education Dissertation of the Year Award for his doctoral research on the workplace experiences of Black postsecondary employees. His scholarship includes several book chapters and articles about racial equity.

A scholar-practitioner, his research interests center on peopleโ€™s experiences working in educational contexts, and using asset-based approaches to improve work environments. He holds degrees from Hampton University (an HBCU), the Pennsylvania State University, and a doctorate from the University of Southern California.
