The Acolyte Episode 7 - Brendok Bombshells

First off, can we talk about that Brendoc flashback. After weeks of teasing, we finally got the full story of what went down that fateful night. Cogonata's direction here was absolutely stellar, giving us a haunting, almost dreamlike quality to these scenes. The way he contrasted the serenity of the coven with the sudden violence of the Jedi attack was masterful. But let's break down what we learned.

0:44 So it turns out that Jedi were on Brendock searching for a force virgence, a nexus of force energy that had somehow brought life back to this previously barren world. That's some pretty heavy stuff, and it explains why the Council was so interested in this backwater planet. Now here's where the get really interesting. We find out that Saul became obsessed with taking Osha as his padawan, convinced she was in danger. Meanwhile, Indara was trying to avoid conflict and leave the twins with the witches. Talk about your Jedi disagreements, it really shows how even the supposedly wise Jedi can make some pretty big mistakes and poor dumb Torbin. I mean, come on, man, you're a Jedi, act like it. The revelation about May and Osha being essentially the same being split in two mind blown. It explained so much about their connection and why Saul couldn't tell May was impersonating Osha. It's these kind of details that make me excited for potential future seasons of the Acolyte. Now, let's talk about that climactic sequence. The witches turning into black smoke. Creepy and cool, But I've got to say, the way all the other witches just dropped dead when Indara broke their connection to Kalnaka felt a bit anti climactic. And don't even get me started on May accidentally started that fire. It all felt a bit convenient, if you ask me. But the real kicker Saul choosing to save Osha and let May fall to her apparent death. That's some dark stuff, folks. It really shows how far soul had fallen from the Jedi ideals

2:14 in his obsession with Osha. I've got to say, though, this episode left me with mixed feelings. On one hand, we got a lot of answers we've been waiting for. On the other some of those answers felt a bit unsatisfying or raised even more questions. And that pop song over the end credits. Look, I'm all for shaking things up, but that felt really out of place in a Star Wars property. Still, I'm excited to see how all this plays out in next week's finale. Will Osha fully embrace the dark side with camer what's the deal with Coral? Is she still out there somewhere? And how will all this tie into the larger Star Wars universe?
