Thriving Thru Menopause

This week my guest is Rebekah Brown is founder and creator of MPowder.

She spent her career helping other companies to build brands and products as a researcher and creative consultant. Then the peri-menopause arrived.

Turned away by her GP because she was ‘too young’ to have symptoms, she found herself trawling the aisles of her local health food store, staring at a vast range of products and ingredients she knew nothing about. Three things struck her:

1.   Why did all the packs staring back at her feature women in cornfields, wearing dentures and comfortable shoes? (not that she doesn’t LOVE comfortable shoes)

2.   Why was the menopause presented as a single event, rather than a series of bio-chemical stages our bodies go through?

3.   And where were the natural, whole food solutions? As a generation increasingly realizing the benefits of plant food as medicine, where was the innovation?

1.5 years on and MPowder launches its first product in September and has a growing community of Makers women who share their experiences and needs in order to help other women and are part of the innovation process and ignite a movement to change ‘the change’ for midlife women everywhere.

We talk about key aspects that have come from her journey and those the community

Don’t let them tell you it’s nothing: The menopause is under-research and GPs are under-trained. If your doctor doesn’t recognize your symptoms, arm yourself with knowledge, and find a new one.

Don’t see this as an ‘end of life’ stage: The Chinese have a wonderful phrase for the menopause. They call it ‘the second spring’. We’re more likely to make successful entrepreneurs. We are more likely to be happier in our own skin. Rebekah will share the stats the prove that part 2 can be transformational if we nourish our bodies and minds.

Input differently to output differently: The tools that got you here may not serve you as you transition through menopause. Rebekah will share her tips on the tools her community has found most valuable.
