Women in their midlife years are the most likely to be “in and out of exercise,”  In other words, we want to exercise, but something is keeping us from sticking with it over the long term.

Sometimes the workouts are just too hard and too many exercise professionals who that healthy aging was dependent upon high-intensity workouts. 

So this week it was wonderful to have as a guest Nicole Simonin host of the  “Shape It Up Over 40” podcast, author of “The No Fuss, No Mess Shape It Up Cookbook” founder of Shape It Up Fitness.

Nicole shared 3 vital points

1. Mindset is critical and this is where all training starts if it is going to becoming a lasting habit

2. We are individuals and so a standard approach rarely works. Women over 40 need supporting exercise programs that address their unique needs.

3. Weight training is key to much needed muscle mass as we age. But we don't need to be pumping out at at the gym for hours with enormous weights. 30 minutes a day of moderate-intensity weight training along with being active through out the day is what works.

The most important thing? Start where you are, work on your mindset and enjoy.
