Prime Minister Mark Carney announces that the by-elections to fill the seats vacated by Chrystia Freeland, Bill Blair, and [checks notes] the Supreme Court of Canada, will take place on April 13, 2026.
The Liberals need three more seats in their column to officially hold the majority in the House of Commons.
And of course, as this is politics, there is strategy afoot.
