Jeff Eberhart | What all former athletes should know

Jeff Eberhart | What all former athletes should know

My guest this week is Jeff Eberhart. Jeff is the vice president of the northwest region of athletes to careers. He is very passionate about helping athletes transition to their careers after sport. After working and talking with student-athletes for 18 years at the University of Oregon and for the last three years with the Oregon Athlete Foundation, the biggest hurdle they face is the transition from being a student-athlete to a "former" athlete. He is dedicated to helping these athletes make that transition, listening to their goals, and helping them connect with employers who want to hire them because they have the skills business owners want in their employees.

What we discussed:

  • How to share your experiences in your sport and translate that onto a resume.
  • Your sport was your job (at college). Time management skills, leadership, overcoming adversity, team-oriented are a few important skills that you most likely mastered.
  • Attributes that managers want.
  • Steps to transfer the confidence you had as an athlete to the professional version of yourself.
  • The "walk-on" athletes super-power.
  • The two best industries that student-athletes thrive in.
