Major League Baseball announced that the statistics of Negro League players would be officially recorded in the MLB database. It is probably the biggest baseball story of the year. With this, many statistical leaderboards have been changed, especially in the offensive category. Josh Gibson has become the new all-time leader in batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS, among others without playing a single Major League game. Was it right for MLB to do this? Should Negro League stats be counted as MLB stats? What other impacts could this have on not only sports, but the world?
