"Super Bowl LIX: We Meet Again"

"Super Bowl LIX: We Meet Again"

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to thee last game of our 2024 NFL
Season. We've consumed a lot of football since September and here we
are in the second week of February. It's time to crown a champion for
this season. A season of turmoil, unspecified officiating and riffs will be
put to bed Sunday evening. Let's meet the two teams who'll be hoisting
the sacred Lombardi Trophy in New Orleans, Louisiana. Your host city
of Super Bowl 59!

1 Kansas City Chiefs vs 2 Philadelphia Eagles

A rematch from Super Bowl 57 is set to decide your NFL World
Champion for 2024. We begin with the defending two time champs
Kansas City Chiefs.

In a season where quarterback Patrick Mahomes had what some would
call a down year, he didn't flinch to say the least. Snubbed in the Pro
Bowl voting should add fuel as Michael Jordan once said "I took it
personal," as he should if the media has ripped you for being mediocre.
Nothing is without warrant, but that's neither here or there.

This version of Kansas City had their best season since 2022 and
winning it all against Philadelphia. Head coach Andy Reid is simply the
best head coach of this era and you can't deny it. Future hall of famer
Travis Kelce is still a wrecking ball in midfield as Mahomes' security
blanket. You leave him uncovered, you'll pay. Check the tape and see
for yourself, no lies are being told.

We know about the offensive schemes and creativity of Reid; even with
an arsenal of speed, power and finesse. Everyone is healthy and

understands their roles, nobody is bigger than the logo that dons your
helmet. Adding veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is seeking his
first ring of his career; as the return of an old friend running back
Kareem Hunt who too was added midseason. This team is poised,
doesn't flinch under pressure.

Now, let's give this Chiefs defense their flowers (cue applause). A stifling
defense under the scheme of Steve Spagnola as he's not afraid to blitz
or make you pay for throwing an ill-fated interception. The number one
defense in football can play tight; while keeping exotic coverages in
rotation. It's been the story of Kansas City's season. Doesn't get talked
about enough, but hey I'll give them the respect that's earned. Spags
will bring the heat and force the quarterback to rethink his reads. Led by
defensive tackle Chris Jones, don't be surprised if he impacts the game
early and often.

Fly Eagles Fly, as it's been a season which called for action early on.
Player riff between quarterback Jalen Hurts and receiver AJ Brown was
bigger than what it appeared courtesy of Brandon Graham airing out
locker room struggles. Head coach Nick Sirianni has the hottest seat at
this point; while the "boy genius" offensive coordinator Kellen Moore can
use his "Mickey Mouse" play calling to prove he's ready to be a head
coach.

Here's where the real success has evolved: running back Saquon
Barkley has given Philadelphia a dynamic rushing attack in 2024.
Spurning the New York Giants to sign with Philly has looked unpleasant
for Giants fans; but hey, that's what happens when you invest $160
million dollars into former quarterback Daniel Jones. That was
intentional to type, back to our regularly scheduled article.
Barkley had one of his best seasons rushing for over 2,000 yards.
Nearly breaking Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson's record.

Even though this era of football fans didn't get to see it shattered,
resting Barkley was more important than a sacred record. Bigger picture
versus individual accolades in pursuing a championship. Wide receivers
AJ Brown and Devonta Smith will have to catch everything thrown their
way for the Eagles to play keep away. Tight end Dallas Goedert (only
Dallas playing in the big game) will have to find ways to impact the
game.

Good offensive line to protect Jalen Hurts; as this will be on his
shoulders in protecting the football and making smart plays. He can't
afford to make untimely mistakes against Kansas City's pass rush. He
will have to lead scoring drives in defeating the Chiefs. Running the
football is key to this game in hindsight.

The Eagles defense has flipped over a new leaf after Vic Fangio arrived.
A broken unit from 2023, he's corrected the mistakes and proven his old
school tactics prevail. A strong front four, stifling linebackers and two of
the young premiere corners who happened to be rookies. This Super
Bowl presents a much broader challenge for Philadelphia's defense.
Can they keep it close and fly higher in clutch moments? We're going to
find out Sunday evening.

As this game is hyping up for potential history, Kansas City is looking to
become the first team in NFL history to three-peat. No team in the
Super Bowl era has accomplished this feat. We've had back to back
champions, but a three-peat. The last sports team who achieved this:
2000-2002 Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA.

History is meant to be cemented and written into NFL galore. What
Kansas City is doing has raised the ears of football fans as to whose
dynasty was better between New England and Kansas City. The
comparisons are very close but my argument would be which

quarterback faced tougher defenses in route to championships? We can
talk about who done it better but we can have those discussions after
the game is concluded.

Kansas City is also looking to beat the same opponent twice: San
Francisco 49ers in 2019 & 2023. Will they be able to send Philadelphia
flying home to nest until September 2025? We shall see Sunday
evening in New Orleans, Louisiana.
