"Los Angeles Rams: Out Of Time"
Even in the world of chaos, a team must move diligently without leaving
trails. Being great comes with sacrificing and leaving it all on the field.
For the 2025 LA Rams, their hour glass ran out for the final time. In what
could've been quarterback Matthew Stafford's final game as a Ram, he
played his heart out. It's going to be a tough offseason but let's
breakdown their final stand.
Even in defeat, the Rams had a game which they could've very easily
won. Keeping it very close with Seattle, the intensity became more
heavier. Who was going to make the biggest mistake and rally their
team to the Super Bowl? Back and forth both teams went, one play
decided this crazy finish. With very little time left, Stafford rocketed a
pass to wide receiver Puka Nucca; but he didn't get out of bounds and
stop the clock.
Time expired as the Rams hurried to make a final push and upset their
divisional opponent. Confetti fell in Seattle as the Rams stood in
disbelief. Fighting until the whistle, it was over and nothing could be
done. Stafford played about as great and still wasn't enough to
overcome Seattle's defense. Head coach Sean McVay had probably
called his mid-tier postseason since 2020.
There was no Aaron Donald to save the Rams in securing one more
stop; as the future Hall of Fame defensive tackle retired after the 2023
season. A defense which had been good, but not great when it needed
crucial stops. Mainly in their secondary was part of the issue, but that's
on coaching. This offense was built around Stafford and a very good run
game. Stafford played arguably his best season and hopefully the
league MVP.
What's next for the Rams: will Stafford come back for one more season
and try for another Super Bowl? With his back injury the talking point of
2025, there were concerns and he managed to get right back to work.
Nucca in a contract year and looking to be among the highest paid wide
receivers in football. Devante Adams still looking to add a Super Bowl
ring to his Hall of Fame career. After five trips to the NFC title game,
Adams has yet to be on the winning side.
For a team who's battled tested and built for championships, I don't
believe the Rams are finished. It was a season of unknown, minor
distractions, playing in a very tough NFC West which sent three teams
to the playoffs. LA's breakthrough for another Super Bowl is far from
over and here's why. Head coach Sean McVay is among the best
offensive minds in football. Even on his average day, Stafford made up
for the shortcomings.
A stud wide receiver who'll command $45 million per season in Nucca is
a big check the front office will have to write. Revamping the secondary
is a priority; hitting on another cornerback or safety to give the front four
bull rush blitzes led by Jared Verse. The Rams are set for another
playoff run and very aggressive front office executives who'll give up
draft equity to win championships.
If Stafford returns and has another MVP caliber season, they could
easily be the NFC favorites in 2026. But... Stafford will have to make his
mind up by March. A reworked contract could lead to adding more
incentives in luring him back. Drafting the heir future franchise
quarterback or giving up a king's ransom for a young quarterback
whose shown his displeasure in Cincinnati... Joe Burrow could be an
option? With a win now team and aging quarterback in Stafford, is it
possible Burrow takes the number nine jersey and keep this window
open?
Just saying for future context because we all know crazier things occur
in sports. If Stafford walks away, don't say I didn't tell you ahead of time
Joe Burrow will be the next quarterback to walk in LA and take them to
the Super Bowl. IF and I mean IF this happens... Burrow will be out for
redemption and revenge with a new team. The team who beat him at
SoFi Stadium for a Super Bowl.
In the end, LA is going to show aggressiveness during free agency and
draft in April. Either way... A team who can outsmart any executive and
construct a championship caliber team for now. I wouldn't bet against
LA; not even a simple dollar. Take the points and let the chips fall where
they may.
