"LeBron James: An Uncertain Kingdom"

As the microphones waited post NBA All-Star game, media outlets sat
anticipating one particular player. Many wanted to have the honor and
privilege in speaking; while reading signals of hope and gratitude. LA
Lakers small forward LeBron James made his arrival to answer
questions per usual for media availability. All smiles after playing the
new format and praising fellow young players.
Could this possibly be James' last all-star appearance to go with many
other accolades? Entering season twenty-three and all the buzz if we're
witnessing a final curtain call. Fans alike have waited by the clock,
phone and purchasing his signature Nike basketball shoe; which
happens to be twenty-three. Anticipating the announcement of James'
"soon to be determined" next move after the conclusion of this season.
Being the face of basketball since age sixteen, James has been apart of
basketball royalty. From a high school prodigy to now age forty-one and
still playing like he's twenty-one. We've witnessed the highs, lows,
shortcomings and legendary career which he's dominated. Father Time
started ticking during season twenty and still defeating it. Longevity is a
milestone in part of sport science and technology.
With the lingering question of when he'll retire, even James doesn't
know when it'll happen. National sports media pundits are speculating
2027 to be his farewell season. Even with no subliminal dialogue, it
leaves all of them playing mind games. Just as he would want, not
speaking on it now and letting the remainder of this season play out. It's
a mystery and fans are preparing now versus later.
If you've followed James' career, you know he refuses to talk about the
upcoming future during pressers. It's been about the current moment
and right now versus looking into a crystal ball. Just like free agencies in
2010, 2014 and 2018; he stayed the course and finished out his
contract obligations. It became maddening to media outlets and
spinning narratives in finding something to create context. Even if it
meant reaching out to "sources," but that always backfired because they
wasn't plugged into the "Klutch Sports Circle."
Here we are going into the remaining twenty-five games or so and
James' focus is help lead the Lakers into the playoffs. A strong start and
reset; while making every game count. There's no shortcuts or easy
paths to win championships. Young teams like Oklahoma City, San
Antonio, and Houston can challenge Los Angeles. James has seen
every aspect of basketball known to the oldest of truths.
Once this season ends, all eyes will be on James' next move. His
contract expires and what the Lakers do afterwards determines what's
best for both parties. New ownership group who'll want to build around
Luka Doncic, the decisions will be neutral or end with feelings being
hurt. It's the business of any professional sport and comes with great
responsibility. Rather James' representation or Lakers brass feels about
it, mutual respect should be given.
Once July arrives here in a few months, all of us will be watching our
devices. Refreshing and scrolling for updates, could the final chapter be
written with Los Angeles on a veteran's minimum or head back home to
Cleveland and finish where it started? The story is still being written, but
for now let's enjoy James' remaining games as a member of the Los
Angeles Lakers.
