"Kansas City Chiefs: Panic In The Kingdom"

"Kansas City Chiefs: Panic In The Kingdom"

Who would've thought two games Kansas City starts 0-2 in the Patrick
Mahomes era? Well folks, this will be the longest portion of true tests
which need to be made. Losing to their division rival Los Angeles
Chargers in Brazil week one; having two weeks in preparation for the
Super Bowl 59 re-match versus defending champion Philadelphia
Eagles.

A nip and tuck ball game, sloppy offense from Kansas City which has
been ravaged by injuries and suspensions. Losing the game at home
20-17; while looking down and searching for answers. What should've
been 17-13 Chiefs turned into a careless drop by tight end Travis Kelce
and picked off by the Eagles secondary inside the goal line. Kansas City
never got a grip on this game after the crucial interception.

As the game ended, Chiefs All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones had a
couple choice words with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts calling out his
stats. It doesn't matter what Hurts accumulated and helped his team
win. All that matters is Philadelphia dominated Kansas City, just like the
previous seven months in New Orleans.
If truth be told, I've said this time and time again: "this is a team that's
mentally and physically tapped out." What used to be bread and butter
has been exposed. All those title runs led by Kansas City's defense.
Yes, head coach Andy Reid is one of the greatest offensive minds of the
2010s. Mahomes is itching very close to horizons no quarterback ever
eclipsed this early.

The biggest issue and obvious distraction: Travis Kelce's commitment
as he enters what could be his final season in the NFL. Engagement to
pop superstar Taylor Swift has been subject of public interest; going

back to 2022 when both linked up. Traveling and supporting his woman,
while others wondered if he's already checked out. There's stuff we
don't know about, but as fans speculate, Kelce's heart isn't nowhere
football.

A documentary "The Kingdom," detailed their quest for a three peat;
while battling to stay afloat and dominate for long as possible. In real
time, Kansas City's reign of terror could be ending with each loss.
They've hit their peak and nothing else to accomplish. Bodies are
getting worn down and banged up by the season. There has to be a

sense of making the most in 2025 and it starts with playing sixty-
minutes of football.

The media continues to overshadow Mahomes' greatness, while
eliminating the offensive woes Kelce displays. What used to be muscle
memory backyard football, teams have caught up and built their rosters
in the trenches. Philadelphia gave the blueprint in defeating the once
juggernaut of football. It's not rocket science and simple enough my
eight year old nephew can adjust on Madden.

If the Chiefs have any sense of urgency to turn 2025 around, there
needs to be soul searching and full commitment from everyone. No
matter if you're the superstar or rotational player, coaches and everyone
involved will need to scheme their very best. In a very tough and vastly
improved AFC West, Kansas City will have to spear and chop in order to
see the postseason come January.
