"Bill Belichick: Controversial Past Or Present Petty? How The Pro Football Hall Of Fame Snubbed A Great Legacy"

"Bill Belichick: Controversial Past Or Present Petty? How The Pro Football Hall Of Fame Snubbed A Great Legacy"

What you do in the dark, comes to light in a very karmic way. How we
overcome obstacles is what defines a bigger victory. But in this case,
Bill Belichick's legacy ruffled the feathers of Pro Football Hall Of Fame
voters. "The Good Ole Boys Club," who've kept great players out for
numerous off the field stuff, showed their true colors.

In what's been controversial for Belichick has NFL fans screaming:
"You've got to be kidding me!" Like all fans, the shock and
disappointment sounded loudly when Belichick didn't get first ballot Hall
Of Fame head coach. A man who worked his way up the ladder in
coaching and being very stern along the way. There's no way to... Let's
get to the meat and potatoes of this fiasco.

Belichick's NFL coaching career started with mentor Bill Parcells; as a
defensive coordinator with the New York Giants. Having THEE greatest
defensive player ever in Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor. Winning two
Super Bowls before venturing out in becoming a head coach. Bumps
and bruises along the way, Belichick had his most success in New
England. We all know the six Super Bowls won with Tom Brady and
great defenses. Even in lean years, the Patriots were still in the AFC title
game.
Second most wins behind legendary head coach Don Shula (333) and
could've had more in New England. His coaching career is second to
none if you research the stats and numbers. What happened to
Belichick middle of the week... Disgrace to the NFL and fans across the
region. A man who built a twenty year dynasty with Tom Brady and
became the NFL's villain for that time. Nobody could figure out New
England and even in average seasons, it was still a tough out.

Here's the bottom line: 2007 "Spygate" into recording teams signals and
plays became a big topic of discussion. Belichick having a chip on his
shoulders and wanting to do something to shake up the league, this was
bigger than football. Cheating to wins while flying under the radar with a
high powered offense. 2014 "Deflate Gate" was more of a personal
advantage.

It lead to fines and Brady being suspended four games in 2016. 2007
season was their 16-0 season upset by eventual Super Bowl champion
New York Giants. 2014 and 2016 seasons, New England won both
Super Bowls. When it was time to vote, all of this came into the mix if
Belichick was worthy of being a first year Hall of Fame ballot. Old
executives, players who held personal vendettas against New England's
dynasty.

Most notable name which came up: former Indianapolis Colts General
Manager Bill Polian. A man who has history against Belichick going
back to his days in Buffalo; who lost their first Super Bowl to the New
York Giants. A la Belichick as defensive coordinator and adversary once
Polian took over with Indianapolis. It was personal and vindictive as
possible for Polian. Indianapolis and New England met several times in
the postseason.

Polian made sure in his right to keep his archenemies Bill Belichick off
the first ballot. He pretty much said: "Wait a year, and we'll revisit this in
2027." Talk about a kick in the gut for a head coach whose past
controversies kept him off the ballot. Here's another aspect of this: the
last four seasons in New England post Tom Brady. From 2020-2023, (1)
winning season with a playoff appearance. Power struggles ensued
prior to Brady's departure in 2020.

It's the classic case of "Let's see what Belichick's coaching career looks
like once Brady is gone." Well, that was proven in 2020; as Brady led
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl. While the Patriots missed
the playoffs, it played a role in the voters eyes. What he did with Brady
became more about "The Tom Brady Way." Bad drafting and roster
construction led to his unceremonious exit from New England in 2023.

What fans witnessed was a man who failed to reinvent himself as a
head coach. Even when the hiring cycle was in full swing the following
season, nobody wanted to hire Belichick. Robert Kraft may have played
some role in telling teams not to hire his former head coach. A lot of
hearsay as to why but we all know social media and NFL insiders were
aware of this. From the mountain top of winning Super Bowls to
coaching college football at North Carolina, Belichick's legacy should be
celebrated.

Regardless of how NFL fans feel about the controversies from 2007 and
2014, none of this effected winning Super Bowls after the dust settled.
His greatness and legacy should be remembered as having a sixth
round draft pick quarterback in Tom Brady, who we consider the "GOAT"
and New England's twenty year run of winning AFC East titles and
playoff appearances. For this to occur is one of the main reasons Pro
Football Hall Of Fame has become murky.

Holding past transgressions and shortcoming against head coaches,
players; whoever else contributes to voting. It's a process which needs
to be changed and give legends their flowers so they can smell them.
Enjoy wearing the coveted "gold jacket" earned for their journey to
Canton, Ohio. Waiting all those years to join an elite revered room of
great men who made the NFL what it is. As the saying goes: "all the
busts have conversations about their careers."

Bill Belichick deserves to be a first ballot Hall Of Fame head coach and
shame on the voters who couldn't put their hatred and pettiness behind
them for a greater cause. This will raise more questions as to what more
a player or head coach needs to be in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. IF
Belichick isn't first ballot, Brady and any other great Patriots player from
either dynasty (2000s & 2010s) will suffer the same fate. The voters
were to leave Brady off first ballot... You better prepare for fans to
boycott the NFL that season. However it may end, one man's legacy
hinders on his former players Hall Of Fame enshrinement.
