"2026 NFL Draft: The Journey Begins"

All the hoopla, heavy media coverage with every team. Incoming
rookies waited to hear their names called for earning generational
wealth. Thirty-two teams spent three days in war rooms, making pick
swaps to gather more capital. Pittsburgh Steelers were the host city and
put on a great show. Fans gathered from every fan base, cheering as
their teams selected best players available.

When players walk across the stage after hearing what team they'll play
for, overwhelming emotions with family and loved ones. A moment
which lives forever. Putting on a team hat with a smile; meeting NFL
commissioner Roger Goodell and first comments with a reporter.
Anxiety is an understatement for these young men; being in a bigger
spotlight ready to conquer their dreams of playing professional football.

We've seen the highs of war rooms making these crucial phone calls to
their picks. A moment which comes with more prompt and circumstance
due to a gamble being made. Draft boards filled with guys who they feel
can be there or make moves to go up the ladder. Nothing is guaranteed
in part of having to give up future day two or three picks for a prized
player. It's a steep price to pay for investing resources for prospects.

The lows of players come not being drafted night one; roughly go day
two or three. Injuries come about prior to the draft; even if it means
teams have concerns with durability and playability. Some of the better
picks arrive in rounds three, four, and five. Those are depth chart picks
and still have a first round grade. It hurts their stock and contract in part
of the guaranteed money. These players are usually what I refer to as
"junkyard dogs" who'll outwork guys who went before them.

Teams spend a great deal of time with visits and meetings evaluating
potential players. Getting to know the player and man he can become is
crucial. It's a process knowing teams can trust this young man to be a
culture changer. All the hype builds up and players go into the final days
feeling good about that particular team. When a player knows it's meant
to be, timing worked out in their favor.

Once the hype is fanned out, reality sets in for rookies whose present
and future begins. Understanding expectations are very high and real
football isn't too far off. Arriving to the team headquarters for
introductory press conferences with new media personalities. All smiles
and being very cordial; making it easier for questions. Rookie
minicamps with position coaches and head coach watching nearby.
Helmets, jerseys and cleats but no full pads due to the collective
bargaining agreement.

The NFL draft is a great deal for fans, players and sports media in part
of many storylines. Plus, it gives content creators different avenues to
approach hot takes. We can breakdown picks which made sense and
why did teams take a player in a spot which doesn't have value. Which
tends to happen in every draft and becomes sketchy in the process. In
other words, if a team ranks a player with a first round grade and scouts
see him as a cautionary pick, the latter ends up winning.
