What does it take to be a successful working musician? Is it all about being the first one they call for major tours and shows? Performing on the biggest albums?

Or is it something else - something much more about mindset than music?

According to musician, speaker, author, producer and creative entrepreneur Jermaine Morgan, it takes more to be a successful musician and creative than technical skill and the right numbers in your phone. As a veteran of the music business, and having seen the pinnacle of music ministry, he knows that the key to success is more about character, work-ethic, and discipline than it is about fills and runs. He’s now written a book in which he outlines a framework for musicians who desire to build a career that will stand the test of time.

Having been raised in a home that valued hard-work and hustle in his native Mississippi, Jermaine decided to fully pursue music after years of studying. He then moved to Atlanta where he worked his way through the ranks of the local music scene. His tenacity paid off when he was hired as the bass player and later music director for one of Atlanta’s premier mega-churches, New Birth M.B. Church.

However, Jermaine was never content to remain simply a top-tier performer. Over the years he has developed a business around his music that includes bass playing courses, a huge YouTube library of videos, speaking engagements, entrepreneurial training, production services and much more.

In this inspiring and wisdom-packed interview, Jermaine unveils the key mindset shifts he made in order to overcome insecurity and self-doubt, and eventually become the confident and disciplined musician and creative leader he is today.
