Why I Stopped Thinking About Pricing by the Hour

d you become, the faster you may be able to recognize a problem and solve it.

Under a purely hourly model, that can create a strange result. You become better at your work, spend less time doing it, and potentially get paid less for the outcome.

That never made much sense to me.

The ROI Method came from wanting a different conversation around pricing, one that considers what the work is actually worth to the client. 💡

It's interesting watching this old interview now because the idea has continued to follow me through tax advisory, selling my CPA firm, and building software around the work.
