Life's a rollercoaster. And whether we micromanage every detail or not, things go up and down. That's just what life does.

So I want to ask y'all something I ask every room I speak to: are you a unicorn, a dragon, or a rising phoenix?

Nate Bargatze actually polled Americans on this in his new show. The country picked dragons. I am team unicorn and I have no plans to change that. But the rising phoenix is the one that tends to stop people in their tracks. Starting completely over from the ashes, from scratch, after something fell apart or got left behind.

At Wave Conference I had people come find me after the session to tell me their animal. Some of them were in tears. Because saying it out loud meant finally saying something true about where they actually are in life. I felt this immediate connection to every single one of them because I knew what each animal carried. I created them.

But here's what all three animals have in common.

They all poop.

None of it is perfect. The unicorn life isn't perfect. The dragon energy isn't perfect. The phoenix rebuild isn't perfect. Nobody gets a pass on the messy parts and honestly that's kind of the most freeing thing I can say in a room full of high achievers.

Drop your animal in the comments. I genuinely want to know.
