135: Mike Guffey for Council - Clay Morgan & Jail Tax

135: Mike Guffey for Council - Clay Morgan & Jail Tax

Great episode of Boss Hog of Liberty!

Jeremiah Morrell and Dakota Davis host the city of New Castle Ward 1 candidate night.
https://bosshog.fireside.fm/150

We talk with Mike Guffey - Republican candidate for City Council. Mike is running for an open seat and is in a two way race with Glenn Ryan who was unable to join us for the night. We talked about the city budget, the future of downtown, and what his vision is for New Castle. Mike shared his memories of the town and weighed in on 1400 plaza and the possibilities of the city owning more buildings.

Councilman Clay Morgan joined us at the end of the show, following the county council meeting, and the vote to raise taxes to pay for a new jail/rehabilitation facility. In a 5-1 vote, the council voted to increase income taxes .2%; in addition to the .25% increase for public safety that was enacted four years ago.
