The abundance journey is the only show that activates abundance for you. So you enjoy rapid results in your business. Here's your host, the abundance Ambassador Elaine Starling.

Elaine Starling:

Have you ever wondered what the fastest way is to grow your business? You're in luck, you are in luck, you're in the right place. This is Elaine Starling, the abundance ambassador and I'm so thrilled to have Danny Burnett with me today. Why? Because I want like to get this. I met Danny recently at an event and he blew me away. This guy just totally blew me away. He started his own marketing consultancy back in 2000. And since 2013, he's focused on building sales funnels, both for business to business companies, as well as business to consumer companies. And he's got a strong focus on the healthcare industry. Interesting background, because when I was chatting with Danny, I saw how he takes what he knows. And he can apply it to lots of different industries and lots of different situations. And I just found that so useful. His insights are just right on the money. He's helped clients both a top level by developing marketing strategies, and also at ground level by helping them implement their marketing. He's got a really strong focus on paid social and LinkedIn lead generation campaigns. The part of what I really admire and love and adore about Danny is his passion is all about people. He loves connecting with people he loves finding out about people he just delves into who you are and what you do, and how you do it what you need. And he loves to connect people he's known as the business matchmaker, because he's so good at understanding those relationships that can truly transform your business. That's why I'm so excited to welcome Danny Burba to the abundance journey. Danny, welcome.

Danny Bermant:

Hi, Elaine, thank you for having me.

Unknown:

You know, you really impressed me, because we were chatting briefly about what I'm up to with the abundance journey. And you immediately sent me like three emails with people that you thought I should connect with, that could really I could support them, and they could support me, and we're already in touch. And I can't thank you enough for that. I really appreciate it. But fantastic. Obviously, you're passionate about supporting business owners and helping them come together to support each other. What got you started? Why are you so enthusiastic about that?

Danny Bermant:

Business owners have a tendency to look for the most complicated way to get your business, right. What can we do that's really complicated, requires an awful lot of luck going around with lots of different apps and landing pages and websites and learning advertising and so on. And reality is that very often the solution is staring us in the face as as in people around us, right? It can be things like our friends, our family, our colleagues. And there's a whole network of people to tap into who can help you to grow your business. And the mistake we make is thinking that is a really complicated thing to do. And it's much easier to go down the route of okay, let's set up an advertising campaign. Or something else. Yeah,

Unknown:

very true. And I feel like you just called me out. Because like most entrepreneurs, I've been there, done that tried it all. And yeah, and with differing success, shall we say? And it can be very demoralizing. So I really appreciate what what your focus is because I think you're absolutely right, people get people and people value people. And it doesn't matter if your message isn't totally perfect. They get where you're coming from, they get your intention, and they want to support you. So obviously here we're talking about abundance with the abundance journey. So given what you do, and the way you support your customers, your clients, how would you define abundance?

Danny Bermant:

I would define it as an abundance of people. The average person knows something like a 1000s of people, it's hard to believe that but actually, if you really sit down, think about people you work with now you have worked with in the past, people who are suppliers of yours, relatives, friends, the community, your church, right, your temple, and so on, actually amounts to a huge number of people you can draw on. I was recently involved in a fundraising campaign for a charity that I you know, very close to my heart, and I spent the weekend just reaching out to lots of people because we're running basically a, you know, a matched funding appeal, where you know, every dollar you raise gets doubled. And they just surprise surprise me actually, when I was reaching out to people that I knew just how many people in the local community who I knew about who I could be reached out to and asked for help. And we need to do the very same thing. There's an abundance of people around you, people who know you, who like you, who trust you who believe in you. Why aren't you starting with those people? And that's really, you know, it's overlooked?

Unknown:

Yeah, it is. It is. And I know, for me anyway, I don't want to speak for everybody else. But there's always this feeling like, but I have to live up to it. Right? I don't want to talk to them until I'm already successful. But I would think that there's actually a need for the people around you, they want to be a part of your success. They want to contribute, they want to feel like they helped make it happen. And so by withholding, that you're actually not being very good relationship, are you?

Danny Bermant:

Correct, correct, that the whole point of having a collaboration and partnerships is actually, it's actually going to be polite, that time, maybe when you're more vulnerable, when things aren't perfect, when things aren't necessarily working the way it should be. And then asking for help. I spoke recently with some very successful called Angela Potter, who is an expert on networking. And he told me that, that he actually had a point in his business where things were not going so well. And, you know, what do we do when we meet up with with colleagues that you work with or network with? They'll ask us, what's the first thing they ask is? How's business? Right? And what do we always say? Right? He was honest enough to actually say, actually, things aren't great right now. You know, I mean, he's in difficult place. And basically, the person he met with went away, and introduced him to a few new clients that he wouldn't have otherwise been introduced to. Right. Hey, not actually said he, the situation he was in. And that that is that is really where partnerships matter so much, because it's actually asking for help. And it's realizing that the people you work with, actually want you to ask them for help. We have this idea in our heads that, oh, no, I can't ask for help. What are they gonna think of me, I come across as vulnerable. And actually, you are doing yourself and your partner's a disservice by not asking for help.

Unknown:

That's actually a huge gift. When you're willing to ask for help. You're showing the other person that you appreciate their expertise, you appreciate their insights, you value who they are, and you want to collaborate with them. You're inviting them along on a journey, and you're giving them an opportunity to shine to showcase how great they are and what they can contribute to the relationship. So yeah, it's a huge gift that you give, when you're willing to receive. And I think it's so interesting that most of us want to give want to give want to give, but we really kind of resist receiving as I go, but I'm weak, then they'll think there's something wrong with me, then they'll you know, no, that's not what it's about. Yeah. dialog has to change.

Danny Bermant:

Correct? Correct. I'm amazed, I have a lot of conversations with JV partners, where they're quite frank with me that they've done, you know, they've had launches, or they have promotions that have gone down like a lead balloon. And, you know, they'll they'll say, Yeah, you know, we had a launch, it wasn't that great. He didn't get the response he wanted, he needs to be able to tell people because if you say that to people, they might ask you questions like, oh, okay, why do you think it didn't work, you might get their insights on what might have gone wrong, and what might need to be fixed. If you constantly give off this air of Oh, everything's fine, everything's working perfectly. No one will ever be able to be in a position to help you out.

Unknown:

It's so true. It's so true. And you know, it's interesting, I find myself struggling with how do I explain what I do and the outcome that it creates for someone else? And I'm so close to it, I have difficulty seeing it. It's only through collaborating with my clients, and getting their words on what their experience was, and what pain I solved for them, that I suddenly start to see, oh, this is the breakthrough that I'm actually creating with the work that I do. And it wasn't, it wasn't intuitive for me. I guess we're so invested in what we're doing, that we can't step back to really observe what's happening and get that objective perspective.

Danny Bermant:

Yeah, yeah. I'm actually always amazed when I've had meetings with partners who I regard them as being the best in their field. And they really, really seem to know what they're doing. And then the last question, like, like, what do you think do you think I should do this. Do you think I should do that? Does this work? Does that work? Just shows we're not none of us are, you know, none of us are perfect. And we're constantly, you know, there are things that we can see that others can't see, or the other way around. And so you have perspective, you have another set of eyes looking at things. Yeah, that's

Unknown:

incredibly, incredibly important. So I wanted to ask another thing, because obviously, most of us would just like our business to magically miraculously, hey, presto, now I've got 1000s of people in my affiliate network and my joint venture network and everything's just humming along. But sadly, it doesn't happen. Nobody brought the magic wand. So there are some baby steps that we have to take to get to that vision, what would be the first or one or two little steps that we could take right now from where we are to start putting together that network?

Danny Bermant:

Sure. So the first step is to, there are local networking meetings, local networking groups. So start off by if there is a group that you're part of start talking to people in that group, and assign them to find people maybe whose businesses complement you. So for example, you could be a business coach who's helping female entrepreneurs, right, what other what other people are there in your network, your networking group, there could be a financial advisor, I've met financial advisors who work with female entrepreneurs, or who work with, you know, women who are, you know, recently divorced, for example. So it's just thinking about, right, who are those people who are who are going to be that that is a fifth view. And it doesn't have to be anything terribly complicated. You know, your your initial partnership, might be something as simple as look, we both serve very similar clients, let's just look at each other's networks, and see who we might be able to refer each other to. It doesn't have to be it can be as simple as that.

Unknown:

I've got another great example. In case nobody noticed, I have to point out the elephant in the room. So I have a new intro and outro for my podcasts and video show. And I was at a podcasting event. And that's where I met Danny. And I said, you know, I'd really like to hire somebody with a British accent, a guy who could read my intro and outro. And he's like, Hello. I'm happy to do it. I was like, Wow, that's so generous. Because we know how busy you are. I know all the things that you've got going on. And I so appreciated your willingness to do that. And I didn't even ask you, you volunteered. So yeah, just by being willing to voice what I needed help with, I got the answer of my dreams. So yeah, step out there and make that connection and share what's going on in your world, and where you'd like some support and help because makes a world of difference. And I gotta tell you that every single one of you, no matter when you're listening to this, or watching this, I'm going to make sure that Danny's LinkedIn account link is in the show notes. And I want you to go and follow Danny, because this is a guy who knows everybody, and you want to be connected with Danny, he will be able to help you. He's got some great resources about, like the differences between having an affiliate program versus having joint venture partners and what that looks like how to set that up. It's his area of expertise. So make sure you take some time to connect with Danny, because this guy is a keeper, for sure. Danny, do you have any final thoughts that you'd like to share with everyone?

Danny Bermant:

Yeah, I think my main my main thought to share is that what relationship what partnerships do is make business fun. You know, it's when you are building complicated campaigns where you're having to set up landing pages and an advertising and all of that it can be quite daunting and stressful. And but when you're actually the business of relationships, there's actually a lot of fun, this is great being in a situation where you're meeting people who compliment you, you have complementary businesses that have complementary audiences, you both have a shared appreciation of what your audiences are going through and the challenges they have. And the reality is you want to help each other. Right? It's very different to for example, when you're advertising, where it's very transactional, and there might be a proportion of that audience in the advertising who are interested in what you do, but sometimes, you know, when you're networking, you're meeting people who are have audiences which are mirroring yours. And, you know, it's so much more, it business does not have to be a grind. You know, it can actually be a pleasure when you're working with people who are, you know, in the same community as you serving the same people as you stop trying to solve the same problems as yourself.

Unknown:

You know, it's really interesting that you bring that up, because I think one of the things a lot of entrepreneurs struggle with, is they're very defensive. They feel like if I open the kimono, they're gonna take potshots at me, they're gonna try to tear me down, and I already feel like they might be doing a better job than me or they might be more valuable than Me, and I need to still get my piece of the pie. But the fastest way to get your piece of the pie is to connect with other people who maybe already have a little piece of the pie. Because, you know, it was pointed out to me at one of the events we were at recently, that when you make a sale, like an online sale, only about 2% of your list actually purchases 98% hasn't bought. And guess what they might not relate to you, but they might relate to your affiliate or your joint venture partner. So when you've got these relationships, you have more options that you can offer your clients. And it's an opportunity for everybody to win. So rather than look at it as an opportunity for loss, look at every relationship as an opportunity for gain and what can you contribute? And part of what you contribute is what you need. Isn't that an interesting perspective?

TAJ Intro/Outro:

Correct? Correct when someone else is endorsing you, and I've seen this with, with campaigns, where you have a joint venture partner, who will write a very personal testimonial, about the person they're promoting, they'll say, I've been on this person's program, this is how they helped me out. And that's, that's social proof is enormous ly powerful. And when someone else is endorsing you, it's it feels a lot more legitimate than when when the person is promoting themselves. Mm hmm.

Unknown:

Yeah, it's very interesting that people actually want you to succeed. And so often in business, we think that's not true. And it is, especially in the entrepreneurial world, we need each other to be successful. And so we help each other be successful. Danny, I cannot thank you enough for joining me today. Thank you so much. And thank you for sharing all our great insights. And I know lots of lots of people are going to be connecting with you on LinkedIn.

Danny Bermant:

Oh, thank you, Elaine, thank you for having me. It's been a pleasure. All

Unknown:

right, everybody, stay put, because we're going to activate abundance in just a minute. Isn't Danny amazing? You can see why it was so important for me to bring him in to the about his journey so that you could meet him. Because this guy really gets it. And I love his demeanor. I love how relaxed and how approachable he is, how comfortable he is in who he is. And he's just interested in people isn't fun when you meet people like that, that you want to lean in and get to know them more, because they're so easy for you to be around. Yeah, he's he's just a blessing. And I'm so glad you got a chance to meet him. Now it's time to activate abundance. And I'm going to part number one gratitude. I am so grateful that I met Danny to begin with I'm so grateful that he did my intro and outro for the show. I am so grateful that he was willing to make time and isn't randomly busy calendar to be on the abundance journey. How can it get even better than this? I mean, honestly, this guy's amazing. So grateful step to acknowledge something he said that could really make a difference in your life. And the thing that was the big aha, for me, people aren't out to get you. They aren't people are out to support you. And what a game changer when you have that kind of perspective. Step three is to, to appreciate the difference that can make in your life. And I gotta tell you, when I show up, instead of being defensive and trying to withhold and hide all the things that I'm worried about, instead, just being really open and vulnerable. And saying, here's where I'm coming from, and not from a needy perspective. But from a here's where I'm looking for collaboration and support. It's, it's there's a difference, okay, you can still show up with strength and being confident in who you are, and not needy and desperate, and Oh, help me and do everything for me. No, no, no, no, I got this. And here's where I'd like some extra support. When I show up with that perspective. And that presents, it makes it really easy for people to support me. I really appreciate that insight, that insight, that nuance that Danny shared with us, because I know it's going to make a massive difference in my life. Okay, so step four is where we activate a button and you've got two choices here. You either pick an anchor so that every time you're in a certain situation, you remember to do that action, or you get out your calendar, and you schedule time on your calendar. Now this is one where I'm actually going to do both. I know, I want a twofer because I want it all. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to have an anchor, that every time I'm in a conversation with someone who's a peer, I'm going to ask them what can I do to support them, and I'm going to make sure I have at least one thing that I want them to do to support me. And one of the things that's really easy for me to talk about is my TEDx talk. Abundance is a choice. I want everybody to watch it, like it, share it. comment on it because most people don't realize abundance is a choice. And it starts inside. And I really want to transform the world. And that's something easy that people can help me with, right? It's not going to break the bank, it's just going to take 1015 minutes, okay? So I can be out there and I can explain what I want help with. That's part one of my activate abundance. Okay, part two, I'm actually getting out my calendar. And every single week, I'm going to reach out to some of the contacts that I've made in the past, I'm going to have the same conversation, I'm going to check in and see what can I do to support you and have some ideas on things I could do to support them. And I'm also going to ask them to support me in return. So I'm getting both I'm doing both and when they activate abundance Park, and step five, celebrate, celebrate your progress. celebrate how far you've come just with this one conversation with Danny. Because this guy is so authentic. He's so heart centered. He's so gracious in how he shows up. And he's freaking brilliant. He didn't make a big deal out of it. But this guy is so connected. He really knows the people who know people. So you know, this is a guy you want to connect with, make sure you're following Danny on LinkedIn, and pay attention to what he says about affiliate programs and joint venture partnerships because he knows he knows and it will save you so much time and trouble just connecting with Danny. It'll make your business soar. This is Elaine Starling. Thank you so much for joining me for the abundance journey. I'll see you next time.
