Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles screwed the rest of the league 255 million ways

The Philadelphia Eagles and Jalen Hurts have managed to screw over the entire NFL this week.  How you ask?  With both sides coming to terms to a five-year, $255 million, contract extension ($179 million guaranteed).

This now making Hurts the highest paid QB (and player) in NFL season.

This screwing the other 31 NFL owners, GMs and salary caps, as this will surely open up the flood gates of ridiculous contracts, extensions and expectations.

I never imagined that an average (at best) QB would ever receive this big of a contract.

Hurts, who wasn't anything but just the 53rd overall pick for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020, is now the highest paid player ever in NFL history in 2023.  But why, what has he accomplished to receive such a hefty payday?

After three seasons, he averages a jaw dropping 175.69 passing yards a game (well, not so jaw dropping)

After three seasons, he has managed to be untouchable with 77 sacks (well, seems everybody has touched him)

After three seasons, he averages less than 1 passing TD a game (sounds like someone should be thankful for their defense)

Then, to add insult to injury, it seems that Hurts' agent suckered the Eagles into their first ever no-trade clause. The no-trade clause means that the team is now stuck with the 24-year-old for the next 5 years and can NOT trade him without the written permission of both the player and his agent.

Guess who is smiling all the way to the bank?  You guessed it:

Joe Burrow

Justin Herbert

Lamar Jackson

And really any above average or good GB and better....

IT'S PAYDAY
